I’m flattered to be in the same genius category as your niece samiam ! How old is she? My nieces and nephews range from 4-15 but unfortunately none of them play DV. Maybe I can convince them one day!
My niece is 8. She saw me playing DV a couple years ago, and that got her really interest. It’s something fun we can do together and talk about. Except now she is definitely better at DV than I am! 😄

This was an incredible way to launch The Origin Contest — every entry was thoroughly fantastic! It was an absolute delight reading all your posts and seeing how informed and imaginative DragonVale players are everywhere.
The contest has concluded, and the winners will be announced on Friday, June 3rd. They will be posted on this thread, so please check back. In the meantime, if you have a moment, we’d greatly appreciate your feedback on the new event dragons. All six (Jumpiplop, Ponkipong, Morphimagus, Scryer, Smigi, and Stage) have Rate a Dragon threads for you to provide your ratings and comments. On Friday, the Puffles thread will be released. When the event ends, your feedback will be passed on to Deca Games.

Gigantic thanks to the Forum staff and consultants for selecting Smigi as the first Origin dragon! They did the research and concluded that Smigi was the best, most curious dragon from the event. Every single Smigi guess was perfection. They all exactly explained the origin of Smigi. Even though only four could win the gem prizes, they were all worthy of winning. Many, many thanks to our participants — you are absolutely incredible!
The truth about this name is that the dragon was considered super duper cute by the entire team. When came the naming session, they had no direct idea and one of our team members suggested this name after ... his best friend's cat that looks just as cute.
I am laughing so much — absolute tears! No way anyone would’ve guessed that. Meow. 😹

I just want to give a proper gigantic thanks to Beejeans for creating the Tissu dragon that Smigi was based on. Sadly, I have neglected to say thanks throughout the contest. Without Beejeans, there would be no Tissu, no Smigi, and no cats today. All the cheers in the world to you, Beejeans!

Here I am searching the internet for days looking up every variation of Smigi convinced that DECA is being tricky, and Smigi ends up being someone’s adorable kitty cat! I don’t mind that I spent hours searching for the meaning behind Smigi since the answer is so funny and fuzzy. This contest could not have ended on a better note!

Smigi is a cat? 😺 Smigi the cat has very similar moves to Smigi the dragon - it is getting itself all tied up in knots. Who would have guessed that answer! I think everyone could have had unlimited guesses and still no-one would have come up with the correct answer. That is so funny. 😸 😸
Just saw the results today because I was on vacation, but I wouldn't have ever guessed that the name is from the team's favorite cat.
