The Dragonarium is the ancient center of study and records of all known dragons, residing below Mount Oly and constructed by Carolynn Aristelle as a place to- oh, you mean "what is the Dragonarium to the average player?" Why didn't you say so?!
The Dragonarium is the ultimate building in your dragon park that keeps track of all the dragons, pedestals, and decorations you've collected in your tenure as a dragon park owner. To access it, simply scroll over near the Cooperative Breeding Cave (or just tap the icon in the main game interface) and voila, behold the Dragonarium.

First off, there are six categories - four for dragons, one for egg pedestals, and one for decorations. Within those categories are subcategories usually corresponding with elements. Those numbers track your progress pertaining to each respective category.
The "All" category is just that - you can see every dragon in the game by accessing this category. The count on its interface tracks your progress in collecting every possible dragon.
The "Elemental" category covers all permanent, non-epic dragons, including primaries, hybrids, golden hybrids, and Rift dragons. Dragons here are sorted into subcategories based on - you guessed it - their elements.
The "Epic" category, of course, covers all epic dragons in the game. These are also sorted by their elements. Also note the Gemstone, Crystalline, Mythic, and Legendary dragons can be found here too.
The "Special" category covers every dragon not in either of the previous two categories, and also incorporates a few "duplicate" dragons that fit other categories but also have significance here, usually from being in events.
Then the "Pedestals" and "Decorations" categories are exactly as they sound, tracking your progress through collecting all the pedestals and decorations in the game.
How can I turn those categories into gold?
Well, it's subjectively easier than spinning straw into gold, so at least there's that. But in all seriousness, the categories will turn gold once you've collected every dragon/pedestal/decoration from them - so once you have all the elemental dragons, say, it should turn gold like mine pictured above.

Those borders represent a dragon's "rarity." Primary and hybrid dragons have no border, golden hybrid and rare dragons have blue borders, epic dragons have a purple border, galaxy dragons have light blue borders, gemstone/crystalline dragons have orange borders, legendary dragons have red borders, and mythic dragons have pink borders.
Why does my dragon have a gold border and a shiny blue background?
You have a twin version of that dragon! The top right button will be blue if you only have a twin and gold if you have both a regular and twin version of that dragon.

Yes! Once you've bred a dragon with a specific trait, you'll be able to see that trait on that dragon - even if you sell the dragon. There's even a rift trait icon on the dragon's icon that will turn fully gold once you have every trait.
You can also see a dragon's animations, lore, incubation time, elements, etc. once you've tapped on that dragon in the Dragonarium. See the pic below for a general idea of what you can see (minus the rift trait because a Giddle dragon made me upload the wrong picture )

Why does my friend's Dragonarium look different than mine?
The Dragonarium actually increases in size and appearance every set amount of stars you earn from completing subcategories - the more you collect, the cooler your Dragonarium will look!
The Dragonarium can also breathe fire - it'll be red if you have one of every dragon, blue if you have a twin version of every dragon, and purple if you have fulfilled blue fire and have every single trait unlocked for every single dragon that has a Rift version.
It will also breathe ghosts if you complete the Ghostly collection.
Are there any bonuses to completing the Dragonarium?
Nope! There is no in-game reward for achieving any type of fire or Dragonarium upgrade. But it's pretty rewarding to see a culmination of all your hard work in a puff of Dragonarium fire.

On October 3, 2023, Deca Games added a new feature called the Dragonarium Milestone Rewards. Players receive gems for collecting dragons. The more unique dragons they acquire, the more gems they are awarded.
After reaching a new milestone, players receive a pop-up message indicating their reward. The gems are delivered directly to the gem total (they do not go to Gifts).
In the Dragonarium, there is a gem progress bar indicating when you’ll receive the next award.
If the player has earned all the Milestone Rewards, they’ll have a completion notice.
When the Dragonarium Milestone Rewards was released, 585 gems was the maximum amount players could earn for collecting 700+ unique dragons, and the minimum amount was 2 gems for obtaining 5 different dragons.
Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
