You’ve analysed and examined every aspect of each event dragon. Now, let us know which Pirates in Paradise II dragons brought the swashbuckling to your summer.
If you’re new to the polls or the Forum, here are some helpful tips:
1. You must be a member to vote. This is a restriction by ProBoards and cannot be altered. An account is required to keep track of votes and to prevent multiple votes by anonymous guests.
2. When you vote, it is automatically recorded. There’s no Submit button. Backing out or clicking away from the thread will not undo your selection.
3. If you accidentally vote for a dragon or warm up to another dragon later, you have until July 27th to change it.
4. The poll will close on July 27th at 11.00 PM MDT.
Also, in addition to the dragon ratings, I will include player feedback for the event. If you have any comments, suggestions, complaints, or compliments regarding the event structure, mechanism, features, etc, please post it here, and I’ll pass it on.
Many thanks to you for all your time and consideration!

Feedback:
- (This has been said before elsewhere, but I'll say it again because it's important.) Decreasing the amount of event currency players obtain from minigames, breeding, etc. in this event by 20% is really unfriendly to newer players. The dragon donation board does not make up for the decreased doubloon rates. If newer players devote time to breeding for the donation board, it takes away time they could be breeding for the many event dragons to save on event currency. Plus, the donation board gets more difficult the more you complete it, to the point where it asks for ridiculous dragons that no newer player could possibly breed. It doesn't help that many event dragons had their doubloon prices increased from last year.
- From my personal perspective as a long-time player, I believe humanoid dragons like Corsair (and to a slightly lesser extent, Euryale and maybe Curse) are fundamentally dissonant with DragonVale's style. You can make them have human-like mannerisms, but if their bodies look too humanoid (upright, thin, human-shaped hands, human-like hair, etc.), it feels uncanny. Like the dragon is actually a human in a dragon-suit walking among all the other animalistic dragons like an imposter. I think an example of a human-like dragon done well is Yarr. Despite its pirate appearance, its hunched-over, dino-like posture and wild scraggly beard retain a sense of animalism. In comparison, Corsair stands with a straight posture and its hair/proportions look very human, making it look out of place walking around in a habitat. There's nothing inherently wrong with anthropomorphic dragons; I just don't think they fit DragonVale's stylistic conventions very well when taken to a physical level.
Not a fan of the donation boards & don’t think they’re fair on new or long term players. Especially when some dragons have only just become available to breed anywhere but the co-op & aren’t easy breeds. I’m looking at you Ikatako! I really appreciate being given the recommended pairings at the start of the event but then spend all my rift breeds (usually up to 10k daily) trying for grandparents, parents & then, if I’m lucky, the actual event dragon. No time for the boards so no extra currency 🤷♀️
Also not really a fan of the dragons this time round BUT with other events I’ve loved them all (just about) so I’m not complaining. For me it was missing a floaty Alure, Lightmare, Aperture type. Sea Shanty was my favourite by quite a way (although not at all floaty!).
Definitely a fan of the Surface theme, Greedy Spoils (if a bit small) & the Inconspicuous Barrel (all is forgiven Ikatako!) 👏👏
I liked the sea monster dragons in this event. They were my favourites with some great detail and colours.
Thank you for adding four extra double days to compensate for the reduction in the currency. Not so great that Crawler was added as a surprise, but it was a straightforward dragon to breed.
The reason given for the extra dragon that there was more currency earned this event compared to last event doesn’t make sense. Last event had no mechanism for earning extra currency – like the donation boards this event. And the dragon prices reflected that. In this event, dragons were more expensive to compensate for the extra currency that could be earned.
Treasure events always result in many long fails when trying to breed the new dragons. Would it be possible to increase some of the breeding odds of the older dragons like Djinni please? And somehow reduce the number of fails over 24 hours. It gets very frustrating with long fail after long fail when breeding.
It would be great to see a balance of new dragons that may result in long fails with dragons that don’t have such long fails and don’t have overly complicated breeding combos. Newer players also would like to breed the new dragons.
Would you please consider releasing the limited dragons for 10 days instead of 7? Still release a limited dragon every week, but allow it to be bred for 10 days.
Please remove dragons that have never been breedable before or those with extra low breeding odds (like Djinni) from the dartboard when setting a locked combo.
The dragons in this event were lacking on the most part and there were way to many long fails. If expensive dragons, long fails, lack of currency, etc. is frustrating to long time players how must new players feel and will they want to stay? Not a fan of the egg game at all and the donation boards takes up time as well as nursery space when you are trying to breed new dragons. The donation board would be better if you could give the egg and not have to spend time as well as nursery space actually hatching the dragon out. My votes go Valeodon and Crawler.

My favorites; Kann, Curse, and Valeodon in that order. Loved the event, loved the dragon designs❤️ & egg designs! Very hard to pick my fav dragons. Like that you vary the runic caves, and donation boards etc; keeps it fresher so we don’t get sick of any one mini game. Wish we could have longer breaks between events is my only quibble. DECA, i think you are doing a FABULOUS job with Dragonvale and (sorry, repeating myself here) i am ecstatic that you took us on & did not change/ruin the characteristics of the game. 👍🏻😃
I have enjoyed this event, although I was a little apprehensive in the beginning, afraid that I may not get enough EC. Being a long time player, I had a number of the needed dragons already, so not having to sweat a lot. But I can feel for the newer players and those who are unable to breed a traited tidal or a djinni. I was not able to breed a traited Manomano, but fortunately I have a twin, so was able to claim the rift version from the final gift, to breed a traited crawler.
Likes:
I think all the new dragons are beautiful, especially the eggs. I love all these sea “monsters”. However, some of the styles (cartoonish, humanoid) are just not my cup of tea.
Additional habitats
New decorations
Shorter event duration
Dislikes:
Not a big fan of the donation boards, especially when one needs the Rift to breed all the needed and limited dragons. Further, including epics in the boards makes it very difficult. If DECA doesn’t want to do away with the donation boards, can they please consider excluding the epics, and maybe increasing the amount of EC for the donations?
Reducing the amount of EC. Personally, I don’t think the donation boards can make up for it, as they announced in the beginning of the event. Nevertheless, am thankful that they increased the number of doubles days.
The human looking and cartoonish dragons. I also don’t like dragons wearing human clothes.
Last but not least, a BIG thank you to adlerist and her team for all the work you do. A special shout out to the Sandbox and the Compendium as well. Until the next event! 🦀🦀🏝🏝🐡🐡🙏🙏🙏🐨🐨🐨😍😍
My votes went to Valeodon and Kann. I'd vote for that Inconspicuous Barrel too, if I could.
While I'm not really sure what the motivation was in decreasing our event currency, thank you for listening and taking action to help players. I feel much the same way as others here - that donation boards directly conflict with breeding. For newer players, I don't believe it makes much sense to prioritize donation boards over breeding. For seasoned players with most dragons, I feel they either don't need the extra currency, and/or are still too busy breeding for the limiteds/rift versions to prioritize the boards.
I'll also reiterate here my disappointment in so many dragons following the humanoid body shape, clothing wearing and particular arm/hand designs. Uniformity within an event makes sense, but let dragons be dragons. Dragon-like traits are excellent. Repetitive human-like traits, not so much.
The eggs were really something else this event. Nice work! I was also very excited to see the new large and giant Paradise habitats! What a wonderful and much appreciated addition.
I want to thank everybody involved for another successful event. Thanks to Deca and the team here for their perseverance and comradery.

I voted for Crawler, Spinky and Valeodon. Although I think it's clear that Spinky is the absolute best dragon in this event. He's adorable and he has a really unique design that still manages to look like an actual dragon, even though he is a bit puffy. There's so much cuteness in Spinky. Hopefully he'll win first place. 💙💙💙
