I change pretty much all the names so I know most of them by name. When I'm doing Guess the Dragon, I sometimes remember the name before what type of dragon it is. When I get a dragon form the co-op, I sometimes name it after the person who put it up specially for me.
Ohhh, that would stretch my brain power too much. I just name my dragons by who they are; so Sprout is Sprout, but Brussel is a great name for a Sprout.
I went through a time of giving all my dragons names that somehow related to them, some of them actual words and some of them words that I've fused together or misspelled, so Reminiscence is named Noztaljah (Nostalgia) and Moon is named Luna. My four season dragons are named Vio, Minli, Pri and Stri because in one of my books those are the names for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and my Seasonal dragon is named Tiyuioneli (meaning Seasons).
But it took me forever to rename my dragons, with lots of reloads because renaming half an island full of dragons always caused my game to lag. Then I forgot to rename the most recent dragons and I've decided I don't want to do that to myself again.
Definitely going to call my Sprout dragon Brussels though.
BTW, rumor says there is an ERG* movement afoot in the Vale.

Where do I sign up? 😂 I wish we could have traited ghostlies. I know it's because we can't have traited normal primaries so why would we get traited ghostly primaries, but still.
Oh noooooo.... those ghostlies were so hard to get I never want to think about them again! Much less rifted! I have been SO GLAD that new ones haven't been discovered in recent times. Yes, the ghostly effect looks good, but as people used to point out, it's a "cheap trick" to just recycle pre-existing dragon designs... I'm all for equality, and my ghostlies have their own neighborhood in my park, and a few have even moved into other areas, but enough is enough I say.

I honestly feel like primary dragons (except dargon, it already can have a trait) should be able to have traits since you can still breed them in the Rift by using two opposite hybrids.
But then again, wouldn't rift primaries just be primary rifts? It also makes me want to make the primary rift dragons able to be evolved.
I have bred Greenge with a water trait. He looks a bit spotty, but I like that Deca keep the traits subtle rather than whole areas of the dragon being changed. 😊
I still need two Winter dragons to breed with a trait - Jamjam and Sleighbell. According to the Compendium, they shouldn't be difficult dragons to get but they've been pretty elusive so far. I have nearly a week to breed them. 🤞
All dragons are the best dragons, but some are required for breeding combos (locked breeding combos). Here’s a list of currently available limited dragons that are in locked combos. You may want to prioritise breeding or purchasing them from the event market.

Would the EC-to-DC ratio be the same as EC-to-XP ratio? I'm asking because in my other park I'm not in need of DC (because of the Pumpkin Pads from Garden Noms!) but leveling up a little would be useful.

No, because the XP you receive for pedestals is based on the incubation time for the dragon. It’s not related to the DC price. The best / fastest way to level up your park is to feed your dragons to high levels, especially your traited dragons.

PSA: PURCHASE THOSE RUNESTONES AND ACTIVATE THE RUNIC BREEDING CAVES
There’s one week left in the event, so if you’re planning on purchasing Runestones, now is the time. And if you have any Runestones left, use them now so the Runic Breeding Cave(s) will be available for the full seven days.

I have purchased the Ornamental island theme and it is extremely festive and Christmassy. Well worth the 5,000 iceberries - there is a lot of work gone into making it. It has a Christmas tree, lots of presents, mugs of cocoa, candy canes, lollipops and even a snow slide. But it may need to be put away at the end of the Winter event - it can't be Christmas every day. 😉
Best use of leftover Berries: evolving traited Gift and Coal in Rift to get traited dragons I didn’t have! 8 new Rift babies off the list! Yea! I don’t remember who suggested this, but THANKS!

It can be Christmas every day on that island if you're showcasing ornamental/winter dragons! Besides, isn't that what the ornamental theme is partly made for?

I found some twin Coal dragons in my gifts, so evolved them to get some twin Ornamental dragons. No Gift dragons but plenty of Regifts. 😊

Yes, of course it is. 😊 But because it is so Christmassy, it feels like it should be taken down after Christmas. 😊 I'll leave it there for a while and see how I feel about it in a few weeks time. 😊

No, because the XP you receive for pedestals is based on the incubation time for the dragon.
Is the XP given on the Wiki the XP you get for hatching the dragon, and is pedestalling the same? Because Snowpocalypse is apparently 1.5 million with only 20 hours of incubation time whereas Snowball is only 1 million despite having a longer incubation time. Also I've seen quite a few with 15 hours incubation time but they all have different XP rates.
I ask because I'm writing an EC-to-XP chart (I know there are better ways of consistently getting XP but I know I'll definitely have EC that I won't need to spend on anything else so it's best to use it to focus on getting XP, plus since I'm using my alt as backup I'm not developing it very much so other XP methods aren't as possible) but some of the XP notes don't match up with the formula I'd thought you were suggesting, which was longer incubation time = more XP.
Also, just a note, there are about 30-35 things from this event that don't have an XP note on the wiki. It's mostly the new dragons, ghostlies and evolutions, but there are a couple of decorations/buildings and a couple of pedestals.
Edit: an unrelated but possibly important note, unless there's a typo in the post, in terms of DC it's more profitable to wait for the EC-to-DC exchange at the end of the event than to purchase Reindeer pedestals (I just noticed that at the bottom of the post and it says that's 1 EC for 282 DC which is less than the 1:1000 ratio you get with the automatic exchange).
Edit 2: so using the wiki's information (assuming it's also for pedestals) I've worked out that in terms of EC-to-XP ratios, this is the best:
Snow Globe decoration (4000 XP per EC) Once you can't afford the Snow Globe, Snowpocalypse pedestal (3000 XP per EC) Then Krampus pedestal (2272 XP per EC) Then Blazing Gale etc. pedestal (1178 XP per EC) Then Reindeer pedestal (57 XP per EC, a long jump down but still something)
Though as I say there are currently 34 things I don't have the XP info for so it might not work out exactly like this.
15 minutes & my game hasn't loaded yet! Is anyone else having this issue?
[Just a note: This is probably better posted in the Bugs and Glitches thread.]
Sometimes that happens (especially if the loading screen is that of a former event). If it takes much longer than 15 minutes then close the game completely, restart your device (wait at least a minute before turning your device back on), then see if it loads. If it doesn't, check that you've updated DragonVale (there were two updates very recently). If you have already or it doesn't fix it, reconnect to strong WiFi or data (and check that your device isn't fluctuating between the two; I often find this causes issues).
Whenever you try to load it, give it some time. As I say it may take up to 15-20 minutes if it's having issues, but if it's taking any longer than that, you can probably assume it's not going to that time around.
If it still doesn't load after trying the things I've suggested, reinstall the game. (If you've logged in to Facebook or google then yo can do this yourself, but if not you'll need your current park/friend ID.)

I haven’t experienced any problem opening DV today, and there haven’t been any reports from players in other DV communities. If you still can’t open your game, please let me know. Cheers!

The XP can vary for dragons. Similarly, the amount of event currency you receive for hatching a dragon can vary. It’s not a formula; the amounts are assigned to the dragon. I was responding generally to your question, is the EC to DC ratio the same as the EC to XP ratio? The calculations are specifically for DC.
The XP for decorations are generally half the price, but not always. Therefore, the most expensive decos have a good chance of giving the most XP. The Snow Globe is one of the most expensive decorations in DV. In addition, the Boulder Pile, Volcano, and Window of Reverie all payout 5,000,000 XP and are permanent decorations.
Nice list! If you have a Double XP boost in your Gifts, activate it before making your event purchases.

I keep my winter/particular-season themes regardless of whether it's the correct time or not. Vernal is gorgeous, as is Harvest, and I love snow (or at least the idea of it... it's too cold in real life!) so the winter themes make me happy all year long!
Part of that, though, is that I don't decorate, I prefer practical use of space. I've recently reorganised all my islands, and a side-effect of that is that there is now somewhat of a theme on most of them, but they're nowhere near as pretty as they could be if I decorated, so the themes add the beauty that I'm missing, even if they don't match up with the habitat elements on the island.
Having a themeless island would look so bland! (I realise that wasn't what you were suggesting but it was just a thought I had.)

Thank you for explaining!
On a tenuously related note, is it still the case that, when Decorator's Week arrives, the decoration prices are halved (so effectively it's the same buy/sell price, so infinite XP)?
And also, would you (or someone else who happens to read this) happen to have access to the info on XP rewards if I were to ask about the 34-or-so that were missing from the wiki, or would that not be possible/would you rather not?

Decorator Week is a bonanza for XP, because the decos are half price, but the XP remains the same. I wouldn’t say it’s 'infinite XP' 😊, but you’ll receive the full XP for the decorations.
I don’t have the XP amounts, and I haven’t collected XP in my park for ages, because the two times Deca raised the park level, there was a bug, and I was insta-levelled to the new maximum. So I haven’t seen an XP amount in many, many years.

By infinite XP I just meant if you buy and sell decor at the same price, it's effectively free, so you can keep buying and selling decor until you've levelled up to whatever level you wanted. Like plant farming but with boulders, volcanoes and windows 😂

Yes, there was a typo. The correct ratio to sell the reindeer pedestal is 1:1282. 😊
Thanks for noticing! I have corrected the post. 😊
