For the Beauty and the Beast Community Design Contest, the wildly imaginative hotsaucechicken submitted the Ege Dragon complete with a poem. Naturally, Deca could not resist, and three months later they released Ege into the Vale as the Brutiful Dragon.

1. Animation 3 They're both good but not amazing; it doesn't do much.
2. Rate Brutiful’s size (you may want to check how Brutiful compares to other dragons in your park; if you don’t own Brutiful, please check a friend’s park) 1 I've just seen it in someone's park. They're both too big.
3. Rate Brutiful’s price (11,500 Roses) 1 There were too many unbreedables this event.
4. How well does Brutiful fit the theme of the event? 4 I'm a bit confused as to whether this event has been more Beauty and the Beast related or more love related. Some dragons have been associated with both (e.g. Pricklefluff, though that isn't love, and to some extent Lovonone), some with just love (e.g. Lovesick, Nomnoter), some with just Beauty and the Beast (e.g. Glassia, Divi, Brutiful), and Mesmerus and (to a large extent) Classical weren't related to either. While Brutiful is very clearly related to the Beast (hence the high score), the lack of a coherent theme to the event has confused me a little - it's been very all over the place.
5. Rate the attention to detail in Brutiful’s design 3 Looking at it more I realise they changed quite a few subtle things about Ege's design, most noticeably the wings. I much prefer Ege's wings, especially the day version's. And the weird thorn that the night version of Brutiful has is odd. Also, I was a bit wary of saying so straight away since this is something that wasn't changed about Ege's design and I didn't want to suggest I thought Ege's design was bad, but as other people have mentioned it - I also don't like the adult version of the day version.
6. How would you rate Brutiful’s breeding combo (THORN + MASQUE) 2 A point for Thorn, but Masque is hard to get and doesn't make sense. In my mind a mask is something you've chosen to use to hide your identity (like at a masked ball) but the story of Brutiful was about a dragon forced to change forms. I saw someone else mention Curse - while it definitely wouldn't have been fair to use it since it was released less than a year ago, it would have made much more sense nonetheless. Rose would also have been good.
7. How much do you like Brutiful (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3 It's a very cool concept but the animation, size, final design and half-random combo mean I'm not the biggest fan of it. Like Glassia I'm not 100% certain what it is that I don't like, but there's definitely something off-putting about it. Possibly it's something to do with the fact that the day version's adult form is bipedal and looks vaguely humanoid.
Comments: In future events, if you want dragons to be more obviously related to a theme, stick with one theme (or, if you have two themes, make them both obviously related to the overall event). 'Love' hasn't really been a theme of Lovely Doubly except through name; the event island and loading screen very clearly relate it more to its 'Beauty and the Beast' theme. This has meant that dragons like Lovesick, Nomnoter and (largely) Lovonone felt more related to the overall idea of Valentine's than the current specific event (and Classical/Mesmerus don't feel related at all).
Price: 2/5 Expensive since there's four starting dragons.
Theme: 5/5 No explanation needed.
Detail: 4/5 Overall it's not too bad, but the face of the day form is really odd..
Combo: 3/5 Masque is odd and hard to breed. I would prefer CURSE + THORN.
Preference: 2/5 It's face just takes away from me. I like the original design a LOT better.

1. 3/5 Not much going on & would’ve expected more from this particular dragon. 2. 4/5 Big but to be expected plus the size kind of suits it, especially the night version. 3. 2/5 Too expensive when there are four starters. 4. 5/5 By this stage of an event I’ve generally forgotten what the theme is but if it’s Beauty and the Beast then Brutiful is a perfect fit. 5. 4/5 The night version is brilliant & genuinely creepy. Great colouring too. The day one is also creepy but not sure if that’s intentional 🤔 6. 4/5 Makes sense to me but Masque isn’t an easy breed so a point off. 7. 4/5 Much prefer the nighttime Brutiful which is a shame as I prefer a daytime setting (will be saying the same about Lovonone). The day version is insane & I’ve yet to figure out if it’s in a good way or not!

1. Animation: 5/5 There’s not a lot of movement with the night version, but it totally fits the dragon. The day version has lots of great action.

Comments / feedback for Deca: Easily my fave dragon in the event! Love the night version. It’s just the perfect amount of spooky. And the day version is such an extreme difference. It’s like two completely different dragons, totally embodyies the Beauty and the Beast theme.
Congratulations to hotsaucechicken! I love all their designs from Igluit to Mesmerus, but this one I might like the most. I love that DECA is adding player’s dragons based on the dragon designs and not the person, so we get the perfect dragons for each event. So far all the player’s dragons have been well liked on Reddit and Discord and other DV groups, so the decision making process is right on the money. I look forward to seeing more dragons from hotsaucechicken and others.

I’m very happy that DECA didn’t change much. And thanks DECA for adding so many dragons from the contest. The fan dragons are usually my favorites and they’ve all been great, every single one. DECA should keep doing what they’re doing in picking the best dragons for the game. It’s worked perfectly so far. I have no problems with a player getting a lot of dragons in the game. They deserve it, and they should not be made to feel bad about their amazing accomplishments. Don’t listen to the haters. Haters gonna hate.
