1. Animation: 5/5 I love the weird beard waggle, the tail thumping, and the way he almost shakes the ground. Fits in well with his size too.
2. Size (if you don’t own Ancestor, please check a friend’s park): 3/5- I like large dragons but this one went to the fountain of youth. He’s covering up all the other dragons in the habitat.
3. Price (10,200 Eggs): 4/5
4. How well does Ancestor fit the theme of the event 4/5, not exactly a perfect fit, but well enough, plus who needs a trillion flower dragons anyway? I like the originality and departure.
5. Design details: 4/5, appreciate that the beard has vines throughout.
6. How would you rate Ancestor’s breeding combo (PANLONG + REDBEARD): 2/5 Weird combo, very difficult. Good thing his cloning odds were good.
7. How much do you like Ancestor (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3/5 Like him a lot, but isn’t one of my favorites.
I like how Ancestor shakes his lengthy age-old beard. There’s not a lot to the animation, but Ancestor lumbers along in his wisdom, so no-one is expecting youthful enthusiasm.
2. Size (if you don’t own Ancestor, please check a friend’s park): 5/5

4. How well does Ancestor fit the theme of the event: 3/5
Even though Ancestor’s beard is supposed to be like tree rings, the dragon doesn’t have anything to do with the many holidays that A Thawsome Spring covered: vernal equinox, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, April Fool’s Day, Earth Day. But I suppose Ancestor’s tree background does fit Arbor Day.
5. Design details: 5/5
Love the raggedy old wings of the adult, the twisted cornucopia-like horns, and the tangled plant-enmeshed beard. The red / green colours are interesting. They evoke Father Christmas.
6. How would you rate Ancestor’s breeding combo (PANLONG + REDBEARD): 1/5
It appears Panlong and Redbeard were selected as the breeding parents because they both have beards. But that’s hardly a good reason to use them. They don’t have anything to do with Ancestor’s longevity or its tree-ness — which is what the dragon is all about. Also, together, Panlong and Redbeard bring seven elements into the breeding combo — making this dragon difficult to breed with all those breeding fails.
Just think of how amazing it would have been to have TREE + EPOCH as the breeding combo! Ancestor would’ve been a more appropriate 5-element dragon, the tree and age characteristics would both be represented, and Epoch could’ve been added to the event!

Ancestor’s description is interesting and creative with the tree ring / beard comparison. He is a lovely dragon with all his winged, horned, and bearded details. Even the baby has a grey beard!

1. Animation: 5/5 Seems to do what he needs to do. Lumbers well. Wags the old beard well. Old man falls - check.
2. Size: 5/5 This is epically enormous in a great way!
3. Price (10,200 Eggs): 5/5
4. Theme: 5/5 All the random junk it's collecting definitely feels like it's wandered through my as-yet unraked spring garden.
5. Design details: 5/5 Perfect detail! I love so many things - his horns, his eyebrow fur, the tattered wings... his overall shape and his face! Really like this one. My only gripe is that the adolescent should have had a shorter beard than the adult, given the description.
6. Breeding combo (PANLONG + REDBEARD): 2/5 I don't understand this at all. Panlong looks nothing like a parent to this dragon and doesn't fit thematically. Redbeard is a hidden. Why? Why not Bearded or Century plus an element or two? I haven't thought it through, but there has to have been a more fitting combo than these two.

Comments: This guy feels like he could have been a Jim Henson character. He's got this friendly, wise vibe that I love. I'll also add that I absolutely LOVE the trait placement.

I love Ancestor, this dragon is so full of character, from the way Ancestor moves to the vibrant colouring. Ancestor brought childhood memories of Mr. Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street to mind. To me, this dragon radiates wisdom.
'... overwhelming goodwill, and witty humour, profound grace and compassion blended with the spice of relentless taunts.'
