You’ve analysed and examined every aspect of each event dragon. Now, let us know which Thawsome Spring dragons put the spring in your heart and the warmth in the Vale.
If you’re new to the polls or the Forum, here are some helpful tips:
1. You must be a member to vote. This is a restriction by ProBoards and cannot be altered. An account is required to keep track of votes and to prevent multiple votes by anonymous guests.
2. When you vote, it is automatically recorded. There’s no Submit button. Backing out or clicking away from the thread will not undo your selection.
3. If you accidentally vote for a dragon or warm up to another dragon later, you have until May 3rd to change your vote.
4. The poll will close on Wednesday, May 3rd at 11.00 PM MDT.
Also, in addition to the dragon ratings, I will include player feedback for the event. If you have any comments, suggestions, complaints, or compliments regarding the event structure, mechanisms, features, etc, please post it here, and I’ll pass it on.
Many thanks to everybody who participated — it is greatly appreciated by all!

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
This one was harder, since I like all the dragons about the same - I didn’t absolutely adore any of them design-wise but have something I like about all of them. In the end I went for Sentient Strawberry, the earth-bending Spring Zumi and the seemingly thornless Dapplethorn.
Event feedback Requests Please, in future, don't make two limited new releases available at the same time. Yes, Dapplethorn is permanent. But given I’ve seen quite a few players who know more about the game not knowing it will be permanent, there will absolutely be newer players who didn’t realise. Please make all limited required dragons available - please, please, please make Cotton available next spring event, even if not to buy with EC but only to breed. I know it’s an anniversary dragon so is special (hence why you might not put it in the event), but it is not fair at all that it’s required for Bilby (which is required for Wolper which is required for Arcrider which will doubtless be required for something at some point) and isn’t available, especially since Bilby has horrible single parent cloning odds in Co-Op (0.5% – I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get worse than that) and Cotton isn’t much better (2%). Please also make Celtic available throughout the event to breed or buy with EC, now that it’s required for Redbeard which is required for Ancestor which I’m guessing will be required next event or the one after. And add Clover to the event too for Luck... why are there so many required limited dragons that aren’t part of the event? Even though Celtic and Clover are available around the time of the event, some people might have started playing during the spring event but after they left the market. P.S. It would also be nice to have Prism to get a traited version for Pearlescent, but since Pealescent is permanent this isn't quite as important. While the high odds for dragons makes up for it somewhat, I don’t think the amount of returning dragons from this event that cost over 10k EC was fair. It was about seven years after I first downloaded DragonVale that I realised breeding hints were posted online; albeit most people will probably realise sooner than I did, but there will be a lot of newer players who want to get the expensive dragons, don’t know how to breed them, can’t afford the hints and don’t know to look it up. Please stop using unnecessarily difficult combos for the majority of limited new releases (some are fine but in my opinion no more than half of the breedable new releases should have horrible combos) - As much as I liked most of the returning dragon’s combos, I’d like to ask that DECA try to avoid using both evolution dragons and dragons that cost over 10k EC in limited combos. I don’t think it was fair this event that Stoneshell, Pixie (reminder those have to be bought whether directly or through evolution) and Fae (which is horrible to breed, expensive, and has low cloning odds) were all required, especially since Snooz added all primary elements to Somnig’s combo, and I don’t think Chikipea and Solary’s lovely combos make up for it, especially given how many new releases there were. If possible, I’d like it if DECA could restrain themselves to the absolute most of two dragons required that are evolution dragons/cost over 10k EC, but honestly even one is not particularly fair for newer players. As said in Ichigo’s thread, I think 10k EC for an unbreedable new release should be the top end. I know it was this event but it isn’t always (*cough cough Classical*). I think 16k EC should be the absolute max for an event that lasts as long as this one (this is more than most people will be earning in a week, even during an RBC event) but that 14k/15k is more reasonable for an event with less time. I know 14.4k was the max this time, but that was purely because of two limiteds being available at the same time – if Solary wasn’t added then the prices of the limiteds would definitely have been more expensive, and probably the unbreedables too. There was zero point in Dapplethorn being so expensive (especially with the last two limiteds); all it really does is punish people who want it and don’t know it’s permanent. There will be people who bought it not knowing it was going to be permanent; they wasted nearly 10k EC on a permanent dragon that they may have also bred accidentally within days of the event ending. That wasn’t fair. Please either change Somnig’s combo or make it a dream-element dragon. At least Bumi and Crackle were epics whose combos added relatively few elements into the mix and made a ton of sense for the dragon. Fae makes zero sense for Somnig and the overly difficult combo is used for a rare dragon. You really missed a trick by not making Somnig dream element – the literal point of the dragon is it sleeps all the time, and it requires two dream-element dragons to be bred. Preferably don’t add all ten primary elements as hidden elements if you give it a dream element, but if you do, please keep its 10% cloning odds.
Update - RBC feedback: Looking at the subreddit there are a lot of people who missed out on RBC claims because it was unclear to them whether RBCs would disappear on the day EC collection ended or the day the event completely finished. Although few (very few) people got in-game notifications, 99% of people who've commented didn't. I don't know if that was an intentional decision or if it was a result of the RBC bug, but I'd like to ask that DECA make sure there are definitely in-game notifications for the final few days to claim dragons in future RBC events. Thank you! Also, can the claiming system be made more coherent, for newer players/players who don't check the online communities? It is admittedly a little confusing that each cave says 'Claims left: 1' when you get more than one claim total. Also, if it isn't already, please make it incredibly obvious that you get one claim per cave activated, can claim even when you can't breed there, and that you don't get an extra claim if you re-activate the cave (even if you've already made a claim there). Even though it's online, not everyone checks the online communities, and making it extremely obvious in-game would also hopefully decrease the amount of RBC questions on the online communities - as well as the annoyance from people who misunderstood
Event feedback in general: It's been suggested that there is an in-game timer for the end of the event (not just the last limited since newer players might not realise that's the last days of the event). A bit like the 2 day countdown for EC spending, but a 2 day countdown for the last two days of EC collection. I know there's information on the end date in-game if you bother to look but it's not immediately obvious and if it's not immediately obvious there will be people who miss it. I think a one- or two-day countdown would be nice to show the end of EC collection.
Positives The event’s theme (a late change from winter to spring) - the theme was a little bit vague to begin with, especially with Ancestor and Ichigo, though it was nowhere near as bad as Lovely Doubly’s mishmash of themes and it got a lot better as the event went on. Chikipea, Somnig/Solary/Cherrie because of their descriptions, Bumi because of the Zumi parallel, and Dapplethorn to some extent were really well related to the specific theme; Crackle and to an extent Ichigo were more related to the general theme of spring/Easter, but I’m glad the general-theme ones were much less common than in Lovely Doubly. Though I do think, as I think someone mentioned in the Lovely Doubly thread (or at least somewhat implied), that it would have been nice to see it branch out a tiny bit more. The EC from this event could have been something like light particles (like the stars from Star Fall) to imply we were gathering up parts of spring to bring it to the Vale (and this would have culminated with Solary’s animation of holding a light particle). Obviously Magic Eggs are the typical currency of Spring/Easter events, but DECA's branched out from usual currencies before — such as using Magic for Garden Noms or stars instead of pinecones for Camping Under the Stars. It had its ups and downs but all in all I reeeeaaaally enjoyed this event because of how easy it was to breed dragons. I managed to get literally every dragon in my main park, having started with only 31 (including Monoliths and Chrysalis) – I think that’s 35 dragons total I managed to get this event alone, pretty much all (barring 2-7 depending on how many of the remaining 5 dragons I need I manage to breed) from breeding, so about one dragon from breeding for every two days of the event. Lots of returning dragons had relatively nice combos and good odds. I think this is especially a good idea during RBC events – it’s the best of both worlds; players can get lots of dragons they want from RBCs due to high odds, and DECA gets money from people buying RBC claims. (DECA might want to consider giving dragons better odds for future winter events – lookin’ at you, Snowball!) Elemental combos are the best - I said it on Chikipea’s thread but I’d like to reiterate that elemental combos are really nice and it would be great to see at least one combo for a limited dragon every event that requires either just elements, or a dragon and an element/some elements, rather than all the combos being two specific dragons (especially when those dragons are hard to breed, or when it’s two epics required to breed a rare *cough cough Somnig*). Dragons with 10% Co-Op single parent cloning odds are really nice to use as the unbreedables - I was really glad to see that the unbreedable new releases were two dragons with 10% clone odds and a permanent dragon. I know this won’t happen every event, but it would be nice to see that every once in a while. Thank you DECA for dealing with the RBC bug so quickly – I was definitely surprised to see no extra compensation given for people who paid for Runestones (or at least it wasn't posted about), given how great DECA usually is with things like this, but nonetheless, I’m grateful they got on top of it quickly, as usual 😊 This is obviously more subjective, but there wasn’t a single dragon I disliked in this event. I’m not Ancestor’s #1 fan but it’s more that I don’t have any particular feelings towards it than I actively don’t like it – and Ancestor was the “worst” one this event for me.
And, while it might not be my most favourite design ever, Sentient Strawberry all the way.
Event feedback Requests Please, in future, if you’re going to reveal combos for dragons in the first place, don’t add surprise limiteds, or at least don't make two available at the same time. There was nothing to indicate that there would be a sixth limited since you revealed Chikipea’s combo (albeit it was only posted on the spoiler thread). Yes, Dapplethorn is permanent. But given I’ve seen quite a few players who know more about the game not knowing it will be permanent, there will absolutely be newer players who didn’t realise. Just to be clear, Deca does not reveal the breeding combos for the limited event dragons. The DragonVale Community Forum releases that information. I asked Deca years ago if they were okay with us sharing the spoiled combos. They agreed with some conditions. We are very pleased that Deca approved.
By providing the limited breeding hints, players can be prepared and either buy or breed the parent dragons in advance. So the combos listed are either locked combos or have one required dragon. This is why all element combos are not included.
The decision to release Chikipea’s breeding hint was decided by Forum staff. We thought it would be something a little extra and interesting for the Spoiler Group members. Deca was not involved.
Deca will occasionally have surprise limited releases. This is not new, they have done this over the years. I know players don’t like it, but sometimes it’s necessary for them to add extra content. As long as the additional dragon has an easy breeding combo and high cloning and breeding percentages, it's not quite as bad. From a developer’s perspective, I don’t think Deca will eliminate surprise releases.
I did ask for Cotton, Celtic, and Clover to be added. At least Celtic and Clover were available for a limited run. Cotton has been requested in previous years by players. I’m not sure if it will ever be included in the event, but we’ll see what happens next year.

Thanks so much for explaining - I didn't know that it wasn't DECA. I've updated my ratings and feedback now that I know it's not DECA's decision to have surprise releases. (Though I still would prefer that they try and avoid having two limited new releases at the same time, purely because of how much EC that is.)
My favorites: Cherrie, Bumi, Chikapea.. but I like them all..
Feedback: I have enjoyed this game even though it is long. All the strategies, resources, and fun activities provided in this forum kept me occupied and relaxed. Love the RBC, albeit the glitch, and appreciated the 2 free runestones! All the dragons and their eggs are beautiful, and the breeding and cloning odds are not too bad (at least for me), except for Somnig. I was actually able to either breed or clone all the dragons in each of the 3 parks. This is a first! So now, I have tons of EC left.
While I like the splash of colors, I am not that keen on picking up the eggs, especially with such little EC payout. Not to beat a dead horse, some breeding combos are just awful. Also some missed opportunities on element placements : Somnig with Dream, Solary with Sun. The Cherrie petals are beautiful, but one has to zoom in quite a bit to find them.
Thank you to Deca for making tremendous strides to improve the events, by releasing interesting and gorgeous dragons and new decorations, and incorporating player feedback. 👏👏🙏🙏
And finally, thank you to adlerist, all the admins, mods, and staff for all the resources and fun activities! 🤩🤩🎉🎉
This was a good event with a nice balance between easier to bred dragons and more challenging dragons. But a challenging breeding combo doesn’t need to include an evolution dragon or a dragon that was only released last year or one that contributes all elements. Some of the events great dragons were ruined by the horrible breeding combos using these dragons as parents.
Solary’s appearance was a shock. There were already eight dragons released during the event. It didn’t need any more. Solary was only saved by having a great breeding combo and eleven days to breed it.
The egg designs are stunning and complement the dragons well. And I love the Cherrie Petals and Thawing Lake decorations.
Thank you again for the lovely tribute to Shane and Lesley in Bumi dragon’s description.
Thank you for sorting out the Runic Caves glitch and allowing us to keep the dragons that were gifted to us in error.

Ok so there were quite a few dragons that I really liked but I voted Crackle, Chikipea and Bumi, all three are great additions to the vale, I couldn't decide whether to vote Bumi, Solary or Dapplethorn but ended up going with Bumi
This event didn't feel like a slog. The dragons were all unique and stood out in their own ways. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to select dragons from the Runic Caves.
I'm not a fan of surprise limited additions. Thankfully the combo wasn't difficult and the co-op odds were high.
Thank you Deca for a wonderful, inventive and eclectic new group of dragons, all in different ways so apt for this time of year as we transition away from winter (Somnig), celebrate Easter (Solary, Crackle), and see nature blooming as we move through Spring toward Summer (Cherrie, Ichigo, Chickipea). Ancestor to me wisely marks the passage of time.
The beautiful Bumi tribute to Shane snd Lesley was perfect.
I am a big fan of the runic caves. I was glad you managed to fix the glitch promptly.
