I have been breeding for Nubis anyway, so I don't really mind too much. Especially with the low cloning odds, it might be a while...
At least I won't have to co-op for Oasian, despite the 10% chances; it gives me the whole event to breed for the epic releases.
Honestly, it's gonna feel really weird when I don't have to remember to change my Co-Op dragon to Grimoire all the time. (Even though I forget 50% of the time anyway 😂)
Unfortunately I don't have the earth trait unlocked for Grimoire, otherwise I'd change it to earth trait and see if that helps 🤣

What's ironic is that I received a Rigel Dragon for my daily login gift yesterday. I did not have the egg pedestal yet, so I saved 800 spice and made it a pedestal.

The help menus (inside the giant pyramid) say competing runs through August 6th, and then we have till August 10th to use our spice.
I calculated that should be 46 days with double-days, which is equivalent to 66 non-double days. So, if you have an estimate on what you can earn in EC for a single day, multiply by 66 to get an estimate for the event.

I am surprised that it was based off of mine, as usually players will first get a notification on Reddit.
No notifications this event. We were all three in the dark.
I just checked my Reddit for the first time in half a week, and I did actually see a notification which was sent by DECA Representative VibeLily last Friday. Unfortunately, we were still left in-the-dark before the event started, although at least I did get some type of notification.

If a player’s dragon is added to the game, Deca does not contact the player before the event starts. They did this in the beginning, but it’s been a long time since they’ve done this. Usually, the player contacts Deca when the event starts, or Deca contacts the player a day or more later.

The last day to earn Spice is August 7th at the daily reset. The event takedown occurs on August 9th at reset.
The dates in the game are incorrect. The FB rep flagged the error, but Deca has not updated it yet.

OUINNNNNNN WHERE ARE YOU DEAR KOALAS??? I want a Gawk, Peribee put hers in co-op... I get a twin daylily and then..... a 2 days and 12 hours .... a triple rainbow, another one!!!!!!!!! I have to win a lot of contests now, to get a lot of gems!!!!! Or I'm going to buy a lot of eucalyptus leaves......

PSA: DragonVale version 4.28.3 is now available It includes updates for tomorrow’s Maintenance Mode
Since DragonVale has never been in Maintenance Mode, a new version has been released. Deca has assured us that the previous version should be fine, but to be on the safe side, players should update.
The update is available in the App Store and Play Store.

Whenever they do it, there will be people who can't play. I'll be missing out on three hours when I'd normally be playing. But as you mentioned originally, it's really not that much EC we're going to be missing out on. If it was a longer time I'd understand the frustration, but it's only estimated to be three hours - even if it takes longer I don't imagine it'll take too much longer than three hours. I wouldn't even be getting 100 EC in that time, even on a double day.

Between trial of sands, coliseum, overnight breeds, and food it will easily be 100 for me, all things I cannot do beforehand. I just would’ve appreciated not on the double day. But I guess sometimes they are not in control of maintenance scheduling.
