Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utlilises to add player-designed dragons to the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and related to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on August 9th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Dunes of Magic dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Summer vacation is in full swing, and the hot attraction is the Eighth Wonder of the World — the Sandara Pyramids. Nobody knows how they were built, but it’s widely speculated that Dunes Magic was involved. So slather on the sunscreen, fly over several dimensions, and across an alternate timeline to witness the grand Pyramids, or simply rate all the Dunes of Magic dragons before the event concludes, and the Pyramids will be on your profile forevermore.
Since we have completed two full years of Rate a Dragon, there are now two previous summer awards to offer. Instead of the Sandara Pyramids, you can choose a Barrel of Ikatako from last year’s Pirates in Paradise II, or the Jolly Roger Dragon from Pirates in Paradise. When you’re done rating the Dunes of Magic dragons, message me, and Barrel of Ikatako or Jolly Roger Dragon will be added to your profile instead.
AWARD RULES
1. You must be a Forum member to receive an award because guest profiles are not retained.
2. Awards will display on your Profile page and mini profile. To see the awards, you’ll need to view the Forum in its desktop version since the mobile version does not support many features, including the full mini profile.
3. Awards will be permanent, but if you do not want them or would like them removed, just let me know.
4. If you prefer to not post publicly, you can message me your dragon ratings before the event concludes, and you will still receive the award.

1. Animation 2 The glittering is cool. It’s quite a bit more energetic than I expected for a regal dragon. I eventually saw that the spike was part of its wing but now I'm even more confused - why does it lose part of its wing? Why does it immediately grow back?
2. Rift trait 3 I’m glad they avoided going overboard but I think a little bit more could have been done. The one I saw first was water trait so I assumed the tips of the wings had been traited, but that’s its original colour. Ultimately though I’d rather traits are sparse if there’s a risk of ruining the design with a trait.
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park) 3 As DECA dragons go I’m glad that this dragon isn’t absolutely massive. However, I do agree with the comments on the main thread that it wouldn’t hurt for it to be a little bit bigger. At higher levels it's a decent size, but at level 11 it's pretty tiny.
4. Price (15,900 EC) 1 As you might have expected. In another event, a fifth limited being this price would have been understandable even though it’s still very high (since there were five limiteds this event I probably would have voted 2 or 2.5 - I would prefer a fifth limited being closer to 15k-15.3k EC). But the dragons this event were all far too expensive, so even despite the generally small increases in price (apart from the jump from the unbreedables to Saharus and from Efreet to Aurum), overall it’s just too much EC. I really hope this doesn’t happen in future events.
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event 5 This one’s description-related, which just taking this event as it was is a bit of a surprise since the rest of them (apart from Efreet and Nubis to an extent) were all related by their designs, but as I’ve said I don’t mind description relations.
6. Design details 4.5 When I saw the dragon I audibly said “Oh wow!”, something not even Ignaqtus got. The only thing I don’t really like about it is the scales on its tail/chest (the parts that look a bit like Margento’s tail scales). But they don’t massively take away from the overall design, which I really like. Like with Oasian (and others) I think it blends complexity with not being over-cluttered really well.
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (Gold + Gawk) 3 Gold is perfect. Gawk is only related by name, at which point something like Regal would have been kinder and better. Gold + light element would have been my personal choice, and would have avoided a lot of long fail times that Gold + Gawk gives.
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5 The moment I saw it I knew it was my favourite from this event. Thanks for adding this dragon!
Comments: The only thing that really bothers me about this dragon is its price. In future events, please don’t make the dragons as expensive as they were this event.
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park) 5/5
4. Price (15,900 Spice) 3/5 too expensive for the last dragon and on all my accounts : I can’t breed it - I was obliged to buy it !!! And at the end of the event .. my priority is on the habitats and decorations … !!!
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event : 4/5
6. Design details 4/5 : something doesn’t work but I can’t find what ! The baby is so cute but the adult is not enough “Royal” : maybe the colors of the wings could be more bright !
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK) : 2/5 … no breed possible with this combo on my accounts ! Only double co-operation !
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4
Animation: 5/5 His animation makes him look so regal. So regal that it would make the Regal dragons jealous.
Trait: 1/5 There is simply not enough. Outlining the scales and the eyes with the trait would have made it more complete.
Size: 4/5 Considering the detail put into this dragon, I wish it could have been a bit bigger.
Price: 3/5 The dragons this event have been expensive. At least it is not ridiculous, although I would enjoy it being cheaper as well.
Theme: 5/5 Treasure is always found in pyramids. Aurum's description puts the dragon together with the event.
Design: 5/5 I enjoy the details very well. It certainly looks like an offspring between GOLD + GAWK.
Combo: 5/5 It fits and is rather straightforward to obtain. GAWK does not have very hard to breed parent dragons, as Regal takes elements and Gold is already required to breed Aurum.
Preference: 5/5 By far, this is my favorite limited-tier dragon this event. DECA has been doing very well recently to wait to release the best limited dragon for last.

1. Animation: 5 I love the fact that it sparkles occasionally, showing how it's made of metal, and then the shooting feather is a cool aspect. It makes it really interesting that it's essentially made of metallic feathers and metal plates.
2. Rift trait: 4
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park): 3 I put this one in my giant treasure habitat, but he's so tiny compared to the other treasure dragons. For such a beautiful dragon, I wish I could see him a little better.
4. Price (15,900 Spice): 2 Oof, this was a hard one to deal with. I'm just lucky I was able to breed him because there's no way I could have afforded him and still been able to use my spice in a way that would make me feel good.
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event: 4
6. Design details: 5 I like how the dragon's colors are subtly changed throughout like a titanium coated blade with the rainbow colors.
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK): 5 It was pretty good, two treasure dragons makes sense, gold plus feathers makes sense.
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 5 Absolutely adore.

1. Animation 4/5
2. Rift trait 2/5, it's pretty lacking honestly
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park) 1/5, AHAHAHAHA HOW ARE YOU THAT SMALL (ok all seriousness this dragon's size, like saharus, really impacts how I feel about it)
4. Price (15,900 Spice) 2/5
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event 4/5
6. Design details 4/5
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK) 4/5
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4/5
Comments / feedback for Deca Am I the only one who thinks this looks just like margento but gold
1. Animation: 2 2. Rift trait: 2 3. Size: 1 4. Price (15,900 Spice): 3 5. Theme: 3 6. Design details: 3 7. Breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK): 3 8. How much do you like Aurum: 2
Comments: I'm not in love with the animations for Aurum. He doesn't do much and his neck moves oddly. He's stiff and it's not solely because he's made of gold plating. The feather falling out and being so heavy it lodges into the floor is very creative and cute. I wish it grew back into place like an actual bird feather instead of just teleporting back. I like the glinting. The traiting is a little too minimal. Some colour at the wing tips would have looked really good. I thought Nubis was too small. This guy is utterly and completely far too small. It doesn't help that there are absolute giants in this event. In my opinion, Aurum's size is only an issue because of the level of detail and that tiny head. Mine is in a habitat with Misfortune and they're basically the same size. But I can see Misfortune's details better because he's simpler and his head is bigger. I would love to know how sizing is determined in the planning stages of an event. Does anybody test out the new dragons on a mobile device?
The price is a little more than expected given the slow increase all event. Theme-wise, this dragon has nothing to do with the desert and feels like a generic treasure addition with a bit of text to make it work. It's plated in Shiny, sure, but there could have been a bigger story than just another manifestation of a central event construct. I do appreciate that the text related to the event. There sure are a lot of dragons protecting the Beacon...
Details: Aurum reminds me of those Metal Earth kits. It would get higher points from me if its head was bigger. It's bad enough that it's tiny, but the eye is probably one pixel big on my iphone. To the point I thought "this thing has eyes, right?" and scrolled back up to the high rez image on its Rate a Dragon page. Except for the wings, I find this style and shape kind of boring. It reminds me a lot of Margento. The wings make this dragon. The colour is also spot on. Combo: I was hoping Gawk would at least give us a Horus dragon for Nubis to hang out with...but Aurum only matches Gawk because feathers. Gawk's cartoony design makes it an odd parent for Aurum. I don't know what I would have used, but Gawk wasn't it.
For me this dragon is forgettable. It seems I'm in the minority and that's fine. Happy we have variety. The egg is really beautiful though, especially with the traited sheen.
1. Animation: 4, I am not quite sure of the meaning of the feather dropping. Maybe to say it is so heavy that it cracks the ground (compared to as light as a feather)? But I do like that animation.
2. Rift trait: 5
3. Size: 5, I like the size, but have to say it is a bit small compared to the others. I did rate less than 5 for the bigger ones. 😃
4. Price (15,900 Spice): 3
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Design details: 5
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK): 3, I don’t get Gawk as the parent, except for the feathers. Aurum’s back story is that it is “the beacon of the sun, and it is shiny”, so maybe a metal element, or a Sun Dragon or some other treasure dragons such as Regal or Opulent? Just saying.
8. How much do you like Aurum: 5
Comments / feedback for Deca: there are a lot of fails, some very long ones, from this breeding combo. Still trying for a traited one in one of my parks, after one non-traited. At least I have till tomorrow.

AURUM DRAGON
1. Animation - 5
2. Rift trait - 4
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park) - 3 Such a beautiful dragon - This may be the first time I thought a dragon was too small
4. Price (15,900 Spice) - 2
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event - 5
6. Design details - 5
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK) - 3
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 5
AURUM DRAGON {{{Honesty is the best policy. Honesty. If you read this, please remember that. The questions have been asked.}}}
1. Animation 1/5 Robots don't generally work very well at all or for very long in a sandy desert. I would really liked to have seen the leaping, wing waving, and metal feather throwing followed by a Tutan-style collapse on a small puff of sand.
2. Rift trait 3/5
3. Size 3/5
4. Price (15,900 Spice) 1/5 For a ROBOT in the desert?!??!
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event 1/5 A robot in the middle of sandy dunes? Really am against putting a dragon in an event by way of force-fitting with words.
6. Design details 1/5 When the wings move a big hole shows right through the robot.
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK) 3/5
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 1/5
There isn’t much animation. For the final dragon, it's underwhelming, especially coming off the heels of the lengthy and extraordinary animation of Efreet. But I love it when the gigantic gold feather falls loose, stabs the ground, and cracks it. Gold is very heavy, indeed!
2. Rift trait: 5
Less is more works well here.
3. Size (if you don’t own Aurum, please check a friend’s park): 5
4. Price (15,900 Spice): 3
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Design details: 5
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK): 3
Gawk is out of place. Aurum is a metallic dragon and doesn’t have anything to do with parrots or birds. Gold + Sun or Gold + Oracle are a better fit.
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 4.5
Comments / feedback for Deca
I like the mechanical flatness of Aurum. Unlike previous dragons in this style, it works perfectly with Aurum, because it looks like it’s made of gold. The three sparkles are very nice. I would've loved to have seen the eyes glimmer since they’re so small; a bright gleam to show a spark of life among the metal.

1. Rate Aurum’s animation quality- 3 I like the sparkles in the animation, but the way the wings attach feels a bit wonky.
2. Trait placement- 3 just a bit more would've looked nice on this dragon, maybe the wingtips get rift colored too?
3. Size- 3 It's very small compared to the other treasure element dragons...
4. Rate Aurum’s price (15,900 Spice) 2
5. How well does Aurum fit the theme of the event 4 Shiny and pretty but for this specific event I would've liked more like Nubis due to the pyramids in the loading screen!
6. Rate the attention to detail in Aurum’s design 4 Lots of good detail
7. How would you rate Aurum’s breeding combo (GOLD + GAWK) 4
8. How much do you like Aurum (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)3 More detailed serious-looking dragons aren't my style, but I still enjoy the shiny details and the way this dragon's built.
