In the middle of the night, when everyone had been fast asleep for hours, SHADOWFLASH crept into the Vale. By the time everyone awoke, he had disappeared in a flash, and no-one was none the wiser.
Shadowflash is in the co-op flipping the lights on and off like a disco. Koala shadow puppets to all!
Breeding hint: dark + light + lightning
Incubation time: 21 hours
Status: Limited tier, expires on 7 September
Habitats: dark, light, lightning
Contributing elements: dark, light, lightning
Breeding percentages: breeding hint 4%; co-op clone 3%
Cloning dragons:
Elders • dark, light, lightning
Hybrids • Wisp, Flash
I bred a traited Shadowflash on the third attempt in the Rift using Zipzap + Shining (both at level 20). Sending much luck your way!
Everybody, Shadowflash was a complete surprise to the Game Reps as well. We just found out about it. If more info becomes available regarding the cloning percentage, I’ll let you know. I looked up the cloning percentages, 3% at the co-op (Shadowflash + Shadowflash = 15%).

The Star Generator doesn’t have a timer on it, but Deca confirmed that it will expire on 18 September (last day to collect Star Dust).

I need to work on getting Zipzap in the rift. I got a Shadowflash using Shining and Dark in the Rift after only 10 tries. I got a second Shadowflash in the Rift using Dark and Shadowflash after 4 more tries (both are traited). My twin weekend was not so good so it was nice to get this one so quickly. Thanks to all who got a twin for my park! I have blue hearted my Shadowflash. 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 to all!!

Aww, it's sad that you can only get one (I didn't notice originally in my excitement) but I get that it could become overpowered if you could get more.
At least that means I'll probably be able to afford one in each of my parks. If you could get more than one, I would absolutely want to get one for every island, but there's no way I can get 90k EC plus what I need anyway. This way I'm not missing out on something I could have had otherwise.

Definitely love the elemental combo, though I do wonder whether someone at DECA did have that combo in their minds. It's too coincidental that it meets the elements and doesn't add extra ones 😂

I may have got a twin Capricornian with my main park, but because Crystal (and Subterranean too apparently) is a possible fail, I won't know for some hours (I have some gems but I think I'd have to be up till the early hours to skip it). I wish dragons didn't have incubation times that were the same as permanent hybrids that can be a result of using them 😂😭
Edit: I did just get Leonian, which is great! It is a shame I can't put him in the same habitat as Kotun though 🐈
It was indeed a Capricornian, so I now have all three unbreedables from this event in my main park! *Happy dance, Zodiac style* ✨🎉✨
I feel like DECA had missed a huge opportunity with Shadowflash.
Considering that Shadowflash's two main elements are dark and light, it would have made the perfect candidate for the dark/light golden hybrid. Dark/Light is one of the few golden hybrids which do not yet exist, and Shadowflash would be the perfect dragon for it.
Unfortunately, DECA decided to add the lightning element onto the dragon as well. Although it is still possible to make it a golden hybrid, it will more than likely never happen since DECA usually does not add/remove elements unless it is nessecary.
However, I agree with @metaphoricalrobin about the breeding combo - the name just speaks the combo SHADOW + FLASH. And on top of that, breeding the two dragons together ironically also only gives the Lightning, Light and Dark elements, which would have been an added bonus. As much as I love the elemental combo, I would have 1000% preferred shadow + flash.
The Original One is in all things. The Original One is nowhere at all. From all creations, over all creations, does Arceus watch over all.
Has anybody else had weird cloning issues in co-op? I know rng is a fickle beast, but I feel like my accounts have been jinxed for certain dragons and I’m not very happy.
Case in point: We were trying to double parent clone an Aisa yesterday. Aisa has about 20% odds. I did at least 40 breeds and eventually gave up. It was unbelievable. A friend tried with the account I was breeding with and got Aisa first try.
We dp co-oped Brood. Another 20%. I must have done over 40 breeds for it as well. I did eventually get it. We were slow, the other account was checked regularly to accept twins and we made sure all twins were gathered and the game was off before I sped up the Brood. It never appeared. After I did over 40 breeds to get it.
Now, with a separate account, I just gave up on Starshine. I wish I’d been counting. I spent over 500 gems. Easily 40+ breeds. Probably 50. Starshine has 10% odds with two of them. I gave up and tried it with my main account (which does not need a twin Starshine) and got it first try.
I’m flabbergasted and really very annoyed. I easily spent 1000 gems on my alt between Aisa and Brood. Yes, I could have stopped any time, but what kind of rng is that? It doesn’t seem possible. I also restarted a few times because I thought it might somehow reset… something.
We also tried for Dawn for a while and I gave up after a very large number of Storm and Hail fails (and a few rainbows), but it’s only 5% oddsish.
Did anybody else have this issue? I just can’t believe it. We have a ticket out for the three twins that account lost this weekend, but I can honestly say I’m pretty turned off. I don’t know if there’s any point in emailing Deca. They’ll probably just tell me it’s luck. But this seems like a bug. adlerist any thoughts?
Since no apologies are needed for opinions i will make none for mine. i have been playing since September 2011 and i definitely realize that doubling the number of dragons available accounts for many of today's problems, but i also realize that by refusing to make any adjustments because of that, a much easier path towards Pay-to-Play is made painfully clear. Like others, i am happy and thankful when small player-positive changes are made but they are not enough and utterly fail to address the main problem.
i recently decided that i am no longer a gotta-have-em-all player but will pick and choose which dragons i will attempt to breed. Even so, just breeding for 3 or 4 dragons per event has become almost impossible without spending lots of gems. The Rift is broken, the constant events make playing a chore, there is no time anymore for anything but fruitless breeding.
Now, i am in a corner. What to do so i can recapture the joy of playing DragonVale? My only recourse is to once again, change the way i play. Upon reflection, i can actually see a positive path! The Original Creators made a game that can literally be played in a wide variety of ways. i have 4 parks, 3 at Max level all fully decorated, and the 4th is a small one i use to sign in. It's growing though! When i paused and thought about what i wanted to do with my parks, i realized that there are so many things that i want to do that there is enough for years of play.
Upon planning to just erase this, i have decided to leave it here. Perhaps there are others like me who love DragonVale and need to see that we do have options.

I love the colouring on Shadowflash and pleased that he has a nice simple breeding combo. Deca have been very sneaky releasing Shadowflash straight after twin weekend when everyone has a full nursery and probably long fails happening in co-op.
