comicsans, congratulations on becoming our 5000th member!
And congratulations to all our members who have been with the Forum since the start or joined over the years. This place only exists and thrives because of you!
I’ve had the goal of 5,000 members lodged in my head for the last year but did not think we’d reach it so soon. It is remarkable that a 12-year-old mobile game about breeding dragons is still growing to this day — a testament to our beloved DragonVale! Over the last year, the DV Compendium, the DV Sandbox, and outreach through Rate a Dragon, contests, and posting event and game updates in our partner DV communities on Reddit, Discord, and Facebook have been instrumental in helping us reach 5,000 members so quickly. In the last two months, we have had the privilege of welcoming 117 new members. A huge thanks filled with much gratitude to our fellow DV communities and their players!
Many cheers to all the Fourm's staff over the years for their work and dedication in building and overseeing the DragonVale Community Forum. Thank you to our current staff, who have been actively participating in outreach and ensuring DV resources, events, and contests are launched and running without a hiccup. Thank you to Deca's DV Community Managers, who brought light to our corner of the internet so other players can find us. And a very special and heartfelt thank you to all our lovely members for joining the DragonVale Community Forum, participating in conversations, contests, and activities, and sharing your DV experience and knowledge with all of us. We would not have 5,000 members without every single one of you!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FORUM FOR REACHING 5000 MEMBERS!
That’s incredible! The forum admins, mods, and members work so hard to keep the forum running and to let others know about it. This is a really deserving celebration!
I’ve been on a lot of other DV social media sites like Reddit, Facebook, and Discord. None of them ever post something congratulatory about reaching a significant number of members or thank their members. That’s really amazing that you guys do this! The forum is like an independently owned shop with personalized service and quality content, surrounded by all the big-box stores, drugstore chains, and supermarkets.
The amount of players joining the Forum has especially amplified due to the introduction of the Spoiler Contest a year ago.
Combined with the changes to the posting rules a few months back - which makes users have to have an account to post their guesses - there's been a lot of players who become a forum user to participate in the comp.

Thank you for taking care of us! <3
P.S. You’re already at 5003 members!
This is such a perfect analogy! The forum is like a mom-and-pop store that has all these great people and valuable resources. FB, Reddit, and Discord are the big box, drugstore chains, and supermarkets. They’re huge social media sites so they have lots of members but there’s something really special about the forum and knowing you’ll see people you’ll recognize, get all the DV info you need, read funny posts, and have a good time.
Congratulations DV Community Forum! This is so wonderful. I seriously don’t know what I’d do without this place. I would be lost in the Vale! 💞

The Spoiler Contest may help the membership numbers but a lot of people become members and don’t join the spoiler group because they’re here for the event information. I’ve noticed the number of members jumps during the first couple days of an event and continues throughout. The event thread is packed with info and is available right after the event starts. It’s also linked on Reddit (adlerist posts it there), FB and Discord. The first time I saw the event thread I joined the forum and that was way before The Spoiler Contest started. There isn’t anywhere else that has all this information about the dragons in the market, breeding hints, unreleased limiteds, and all the details of the event, right when the event starts.
The Spoiler Contest was probably created to give something fun to members and to increase membership. It’s a genius idea! Adlerist came up with an amazing and creative way to get more people to join. There is also the Origin Contest and Rate a Dragon which are both posted in other DV communities. Being able to come up with ways to bring people to your website is not easy, believe me, I’ve tried lol. All these things took a lot of time, and they worked, so that adds to the celebration of the 5000th member.

The great thing about social sites like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc is you don't have to do a lot of work to gain members if you're providing good content. Players will find you because they're on the site. The Forum is out there somewhere, floating in the sea of the internet. It's not easy to locate, and most people prefer the convenience of social media apps. So we're at a huge disadvantage from the start and need to work five times harder than other DV communities to increase membership and stay relevant.
There are a lot of reasons why our numbers have grown over the last couple of years. It was definitely by design. Remodelling the Forum’s look (theme, images, etc.) and the layout with the addition of the Help Desk and its content was the first step. Then a ton of outreach to other DV communities and working in partnership with Deca Games. The Spoiler Contest helped and continues to help, but it’s not the main source of new members. It’s extremely difficult to get players to enter a contest, not just DV players, but players in general. Outreach and affiliation with other communities drives the most traffic to the Forum, resulting in the greatest number of new members.

Here's a few things that drew me in, how I found the forum and why I created an account - I restarted playing DV around this time last year after a 7-ish year hiatus and a combination of things happened - my game kept crashing and things didn't load right and special event currency earning things were very new and confusing to me. I figured that somewhere out there in the interwebs had the same problem and maybe an answer for me. I found the reddit and saw the crashing was a Thing and was solved, I just needed to update my app. I also found the event mega thread that reddit hosts that linked back to here, and the discord. I find it important to note, I do not have a reddit account and don't like navigating reddit, but do have discord and joined that server. From the mega thread I also found the DV Sandbox, what an incredible resource!
I then proceeded to quietly watch each platform. The discord proved too chattery for me and I quickly muted it, and continue to lurk there mostly for the server pings with DECA information. The sub reddit could be viewed without an account and, as I had no desire to ask questions or post, I did not create one. The sub reddit also contained all the information I was finding here in the event thread. The Forum I watched for quite a while, then as can be seen now, joined just a few months ago. The event thread had all the information the reddit did and often more information in many cases. I figured I had watched and benefited quietly long enough and it might be time to join in and say a thing or two when relevant. I have found that the community on the Forum is most aligned with how I like to play the game and joining and adding friend parks has made playing more enjoyable and fun overall. I have now participated in the Spoiler Contest, the Rate a Dragons and the Milestone. it's a fun thing to do and another way to think about how the game comes together.

Thank you for sharing this valuable insight! We do have access to the game’s data, and we pass that information on to the other DV communities, so it is possible to receive the info in other DV groups and sites. It originates from here, but within minutes we’ve shared the content with our partner communities. I usually post the breeding hints and event thread on Reddit 15-20 minutes after the event starts, and new combos on Discord. Worms posts the spoiler tagged limited combos. This way, no-one is forced to join the Forum to receive information quickly.
I’m so pleased you’ve been rating the dragons and joining the contests! We deeply appreciate your participation and contributions to the Forum. Active members keep this place afloat. The Forum only exists because of members and for the members. Thank you so very much! ✨❤️✨

I loved the fireworks! I took pictures of them. Since they were interactive, which is so cool, I tried to guide them around the globe!
