❔❓Guess the Dragon❓❔
Our friends at the DragonVale Discord server have a game called DragonVale Guessing Game. Tayzers, the owner of the server, has agreed to let us run it on the Forum as a contest during the winter event!
The game has been modified slightly, but it’s still easy to play, and best of all members can post their own dragon images using the newly revived Attachment feature! No need to mess with a third-party image host. You can upload an image directly from your device/PC. Please see this post for details on how to use Attachments.
HOW TO PLAY
There are two ways to play Guess the Dragon
1. BE A GUESSER: Cropped, close-up images of a DragonVale dragon will be posted on this thread. Identify the dragon in the picture and quote the post with your guess.
2. BE A HOST: In the Dragonarium, choose a dragon and take a screenshot, or use DragonVale Wiki and save the dragon’s image to your device/PC. Select the crop tool in your photos and crop a portion of the dragon with two or more different colours. Post the image on this thread.
All members are strongly encouraged to be both Guessers and Hosts. If there are no dragons on the thread to guess, please consider hosting.
Each dragon image is worth one point. The first person to guess the name of the dragon receives the point.
Double Days: When it’s a Double Day in the Vale, dragon images are worth two points. One point will go to the Host who posted the image, and a second point to the Guesser, who identified the dragon correctly. If nobody can name the dragon, the Host will still receive the point.
HOW TO WIN
At the end of the winter event, three winners will be declared:
• Two Guessers with the most points
• Host who posted the most dragon images
(If a player wins in both categories, they will win the Guesser category, and the next Host with the most images will win.)
PRIZES
Winners will receive 30 gems from the Forum’s staff and an animated background for their mini-profile with the title 'DragonVale Expert' since they clearly know their DV dragons!
Forum staff will message the winners and provide them with their Friend IDs so the gem prize can be delivered.
RULES
1. Guess the Dragon images should have at least two different dragon colours. The background and outline colours do not count.
For example, this image is acceptable because it includes the colours gold, blue, and dark blue from the dragon (the purple colour is from the twin background)
But this image is not acceptable because it only has one dragon colour, blue. The twin blue background and dark blue line colour do not count. (Fun fact: both images are from the same dragon and are right next to each other on the dragon’s tail).
Please try to select a portion of the dragon that is somewhat recognisable. The second image doesn’t provide many hints, but the first one does.
2. The cropped image can be any size. You can select any DV dragon but not a traited version, unless it’s a Rift exclusive. A dragon can be used more than once, just crop a different area. (If you have questions about how to crop an image, please see the post below.)
3. To guess the dragon in the image, quote the post. You do not need to spoiler tag your answer. Do not edit your post (edited posts will be disqualified). If there are no dragons to guess, please consider posting a dragon image for others to guess.
4. The person who posted the dragon image is called the 'Host'. The Host will confirm if the dragon was correctly identified by quoting the correct guess and informing the participant that they received a point.
5. The first person who correctly names the dragon wins a point. If more than one person guesses correctly, the person who posted first wins.
6. After one hour from the last guess, if no-one has guessed the dragon, the Host can provide a clue by either posting another cropped image of the same dragon or a written clue like a riddle or a hint about the dragon.
7. Players do not need to wait for a dragon to be correctly identified. They can post their dragon image at any time. There can be multiple dragon images available, and there can be several active Hosts.
8. Players can post up to 10 images in 24 hours. Please posts them throughout the day (don't post 10 pics all at once). Be sure to use a different post for each image.
9. Forum staff members will track the points players have earned on the Guess the Dragon Scoreboard at the bottom of this post. Please allow 1-2 days for the points to be recorded.
10. Contestants must be Forum members because we will need to message the winners to deliver the gem prizes.
The Forum’s staff will post dragon images at various times of the day so one timezone does not have an advantage. In the meantime, Forum members are urged to post their own dragon images whenever they want. These images will be wonderful wildcards to keep everyone on their toes!
