Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons to the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and related to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on March 13th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Flower Festival dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Please rate the Rubrum dragon on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = worst, 5 = best). If a rating below 1 or above 5 is given, or if more than one number is provided, the rating will not count.

1. Animation 3 it'd have been cooler with something like some petals falling off imo
2. Rift trait 3 the rest of the white bits could have gotten traited as well, atm it's quite subtle
3. Size (if you don’t own Rubrum, please check a friend’s park) 4 its length doesn't help it out in this respect, though the only way they could have fixed that is by shortening the tail and I'm not sure how well that would have worked
4. Price (14,500 Roses) 3 honestly not horrible for a fourth release especially given the fairly decent prices so far, but it's a big jump from Helianthus and with Loveydovey being an extra release and Blossom being really expensive it's not great. About 13k-13.5k would have been more reasonable, 14k max
5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event 5
6. Rate Rubrum’s design 5 the only thing I don't really like about it is the end of the tail, given how graceful the rest of it is, it seems out of place. I guess it also wouldn't have hurt to have a bit more of the slightly lighter colours. But it's still gorgeous
7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA) 3 I get what they were going for and on their own both parents are very kind to use, but the elements mean its combo odds decrease a lot. Petunia could have instead been Rose. It's the same idea but doesn't add extra elements on top of Orlena's
8. How much do you like Rubrum (1 = hate it, 5 = love it) 4
Comments/feedback for Deca I think that when dragons have low combo odds, unless they're really special (like Rigel or something) they should get good single parent Co-Op odds. At least 2%+ but preferably 4%+. Deca generally doesn't seem to like giving epics good Co-Op odds, at least recently, with a few anomalies like the Zodiacs (though originally those were planned to be 1.5% I think), but there's no hard and fast rule that says epics must have low Co-Op odds (and even if that had been a thing under BF Deca could just change it, it's their game now, and they have given epics good Co-Op odds in the past - Prestige is the first example that springs to mind). Rubrum's best odds if you don't have one is 1.18% (1.14% due to the LYs). That's really low. The Compendium says that's 61 tries just to get above a 50/50 chance (I know it's worse now the LYs are available), which is a tough ask for just a week to try and get it the first time it's released. Obviously some dragons are going to be harder to get but there isn't really a reason for Rubrum to be one of them. Certainly, I think required dragons should have good single parent Co-Op and/or combo odds. Low odds are somewhat understandable for dragons where the "breeding tree" stops with them, because there isn't as much of a need to get them in time to also get something else. But required dragons should definitely have at least one easier way to get them. Even 2%-3% odds can take a while.
I ended up saying a lot about this dragon. 😅 But my main thoughts about it are pretty much just "cool flower dragon with cool name is cool"

Animation: 5/5 I especially enjoy when Rubrum sticks its tongue out like a hummingbird.
Trait: 2/5 There simply is not enough, and it is slightly underwhelming.
Size: 4/5 Rubrum is a bit large in terms of length, but it has to be for being such an overdetailed dragon.
Price: 4/5 Rubrum's price is acceptable.
Theme: 5/5 No further explanation is nessecary.
Design: 4/5 Rubrum is an elegant dragon, but is slightly overdesigned.
Combo: 3.5/5 Overall, the combo fits well, however there are a total of seven elements present. This makes it much more difficult to breed and has a larger potential for long fail times.
Preference: 4.5/5 Rubrum makes a great addition to the Vale.
The Original One is in all things. The Original One is nowhere at all. From all creations, over all creations, does Arceus watch over all.
1. Animation: 3 2. Rift trait: 3 3. Size: 3 4. Price (14,500 Roses): 5 5. Theme: 5 6. Design: 5 7. Breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA): 2 8. How much do you like Rubrum (1 = hate it, 5 = love it): 5
Comments:
Sigh. Baby Rubrum is a treasure. Whoever designed those eyes and that face... Thank you. I needed him in my life. I know that sounds weird, but without disclosing irl details, it is what it is.
I love Rubrum's colour scheme. I love the antennae. I love the body type. I'm not sure what's going on with that tongue, but I'm willing to overlook it. I wish adult Rubrum had some more unique animations and I really wish it was bigger so I could see its face! It isn't small, it's just got a small head on a normal sized body... On the face of it, Rubrum's parents work well (see below though). The traiting is underwhelming, not that I actually ever made one. I bought my Rubrum and continue to double parent breed it for a twin. No luck yet. In the meantime, I've kept all the babies and they're bouncing around an Aura habitat together. <3 Theme-wise, Rubrum gets a 5. The egg is absolutely STUNNING. It's one of my favourite eggs of all time!
Back to breeding Rubrum... I just want to express my disappointment in not only this dragon's horrible breeding odds and overwhelming number of elements, but in the circumstances surrounding its arrival. I bred through two 20ks in the Rift every day, all week. That's 140 attempts. I didn't even get an untraited one. At just above 1% odds, we needed more time. But with Dragon Week just beforehand which contributed to Lovey/Loveydovey's breeding difficulties and subsequent breeding extension, and the return of leap year dragons, we definitely needed more time. I'm not even sure more time would have helped, to be honest. 1% breeding odds is ludicrous. Thankfully, I have a short list for Twin Weekend and the next Runic Caves, so I'll just collect my traited Rubrum then.
Overall, one of my favourite dragons this event (baby is #1). It's really too bad the breeding odds left such a sour taste in my mouth.
5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event : 5
6. Rate Rubrum’s design : 5
7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA) : 2
8. How much do you like Rubrum : 5
Comments/feedback for Deca : Baby Rubrum has a nice tumbling action. Adult Rubrum doesn’t have a lot of animation, but it’s not needed. The tongue darting in and out of its mouth gives the impression of a nectar eater. Subtle rift trait, could have slightly more but wouldn’t want to lose the beautiful rich red colouring. Another awful breeding combo, this one contributes 7 elements. Again it resulted in many long fails and too many possibly fails. Thank you for only giving Rubrum 3 contributing elements and not all seven from the breeding combo.
PS Rubrum’s egg is gorgeous. Awesome colour and design.

RUBRUM DRAGON
1. Animation 4: a little bit " common"
2. Rift trait 4,5: too much discreet
3. Size (if you don’t own Rubrum, please check a friend’s park) 5
4. Price (14,500 Roses) 3,5 : it's starting to hurt. It's not the last dragon for this event.
5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event 5!
6. Rate Rubrum’s design 5
7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA) 3,5: very difficult to get the parents in the rift ( like for all the others dragons in this event) I never got them. ( in the rift)
8. How much do you like Rubrum (1 = hate it, 5 = love it) 5. And I like this baby so much!
Comments/feedback for Deca: its tongue shaped like a mirliton , its antennas, its beautiful petal collar, its global appearance as an adult, all these details remind me of a Chinese dragon at the Chinese new year fest! And these antennas hidden in the theme picture, what a good idea! Just a comment about the twins :for me, it's very complicate to get just one "lambda twin" . And since the last event, never got one new twin dragon. Can the odds be just a little bit better for the next one please? Or will you plan a new "twin week"?

Rubrum is absolutely gorgeous. Excellently created. 👏👏🥰
1. 3/5 Not much happening, deserves more 2. 2/5 Even less happening, deserves more 3. 4/5 A little long 4. 3/5 A lot expensive 5. 5/5 A perfect fit 6. 5/5 Gorgeous colour & fittingly flowery 7. 3/5 This combination look the part but don’t make it an easy breed 8. 5/5 Despite some average scores, I really like this one
1. Animation: 5, I think that tongue darting in and out is quite cute
2. Rift trait: 5
3. Size: 5
4. Price (14,500 Roses): 3.5
5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Rubrum’s design: 5
7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA): 2.5
8. How much do you like Rubrum: 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: although the breeding combo makes sense, it is very difficult to breed. The 7 element combo reduces the actual breeding odds to 1.1%! Nevertheless I love this dragon. It is my favorite of this event. Funny thing: I have these fringe flowers in my garden but they do not seem that special to me. The dragon, and the egg, definitely look a lot more spectacular. 😂
1. Animation 5/5 2. Rift trait 4/5 personally prefer all white spots to be traited 3. Size 5/5 4. Price (14,500 Roses) 2/5 5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event 5/5 6. Rate Rubrum’s design 5/5 7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA) 5/5 some of my parks were missing one or the other but were able to breed them quickly 8. How much do you like Rubrum (1 = hate it, 5 = love it) 5/5 looks like it actually belongs in my DragonVale Park
Comments/feedback for Deca i am always thankful for DECA dragons that fit nicely in DragonVale!!!
The animation is pretty fluid, the only issues I really have with it are that the tongue sticking out animation is a bit stiff and the lack of movement among the stamen or whatever those yellow things are make the dragon feel more like a moving png than an actual living thing. But other than that, the animation is fine.
2. Rift trait - 2
Another case of a dragon being highly detailed causing the rift trait to look out of place. It's only in very small areas and none of the traits really go with the dragon's design.
3. Size (if you don’t own Rubrum, please check a friend’s park) - 5
The size is fine for an epic dragon, a bit long, but fine.
4. Price (14,500 Roses) - 4
The dragon was a bit too pricey, 14.5k is too much for a dragon that's not the last of the event, even if it is an epic.
5. How well does Rubrum fit the theme of the event - 4
It's another flower dragon for the heavily flower-obsessed Valentine's event, fits well. However, it's name, "Rubrum," to me evokes "redrum" from The Shining, which is meant to be "murder" spelled backwards. "Murbur" is not a flower to my knowledge, so I'm curious as to what that name has to do with the dragon?
6. Rate Rubrum’s design - 3
It looks good but doesn't fit with other Aura dragons or even with the Aura habitat.
7. How would you rate Rubrum’s breeding combo (ORLENA + PETUNIA) - 5
Both dragons have been available for a while and nothing involved has a crazy low breeding chance.
8. How much do you like Rubrum (1 = hate it, 5 = love it) - 2
I will never be a fan of these highly textured overly detailed dragons, but Rubrum is one of the better looking ones.
Comments/feedback for Deca
Is there a mission statement for how names are chosen for these dragons? It's definitely possible I'm missing something but I'd like for there to be some kind of refining of the process.
