Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons into the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and relevant to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on June 26th. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Upheaval of the Medieval dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

Comments/feedback for Deca: This dragon is thematically and design-wise a great addition. However, the breeding combo and the dragon's elements don't seem fitting, plus they look like they should be a lot bigger than they are compared to other dragons.

1. Animation - 5 - for me, this is the only thing about this dragon that stands out as particularly individual to it, thanks to its very "generic dragon" design. So thanks for this animation, and, presuming I haven't missed something, thanks for not making it a reskin
2. Rift trait - 3 - meh, it couldn't really have been placed elsewhere; its generic design is not doing it any favours in this regard
3. Size (if you don’t own Darkarm, please check a friend’s park) - 5
4. Price (11,500 Magic) - 5 - it's a shame that Deca won't completely stop with the horrible prices, because I can't appreciate the actually good prices as much as I should do, knowing full well they'll revert to awful prices soon enough. I've been wondering for a while if they genuinely take the price and combos scores into consideration... They must do, otherwise they wouldn't ask, but it really doesn't feel like it sometimes...
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event - 4 - judging by main thread comments, there's something this dragon references that makes it theme-related, so I won't rate as low as I would have otherwise. As mentioned, its design is generic, so simply change its colours, animation (and I'm guessing description too) and it could be put in literally any event, so it doesn't really feel like it uniquely fits this one to someone who doesn't know what it's referencing outside of a few memes they've seen
6. Rate Darkarm’s design - 3 - it's just an okay design. I think a good word to describe it is 'safe'. It's not bad or anything, but that's because, as I've said, it's just a generic, what-you'd-imagine-if-you-thought-of-dragons-in-general design. It doesn't try anything new outside of the animation. It's just... a dragon.
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL) - 4 - I don't really see the relation, and Darcowl has low odds, so I won't rate 5, but I did guess that this dragon would have this combo out of the upcoming combos, so it is at least the best-related combo of the event
8. How much do you like Darkarm (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 4 - the design is nothing special, but the animation is nice, the combo is somewhat okay, and it's good enough in general. Like I said: safe.
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Darkarm’s design: 5
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL): 2.5
8. How much do you like Darkarm: 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: I love this dragon with its backstory referencing Monty Python. The loss of the arms and leg is spot on! But the breeding combo is befitting to its parent - a nightmare! Why nightmare? The 5 element combo, with metal in the mix, leads to a lot of long fails. 😕
3. Size (if you don’t own Darkarm, please check a friend’s park) 5/5 ok ... based on a "human".
4. Price (11,500 Magic) 4/5
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event 5/5
6. Rate Darkarm’s design 5/5 Do wish he had beefier back legs though.
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL) 4/5 There are better choices based on elements but perhaps "DARKowl" & "KNIGHTmare" just couldn't be resisted!
8. How much do you like Darkarm (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5/5
3 - Funny, but I hate Monty Python so the only points it's getting from me are separate from that reference.
2. Rift trait
2 - Underwhelming, I think it might be funny if the limbs that fall off were what was traited instead. But aside from that, I suppose this is the best possible outcome.
3. Size (if you don’t own Darkarm, please check a friend’s park)
5 - Good size.
4. Price (11,500 Magic)
4 - A bit too high for the second limited of an event, but it seems like all the new dragons in this event will be around this price so I'll just have to suck it up.
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event
4 - A traditional European-style dragon based on a movie about the medieval times makes sense. My only issue with it is its slightly more velociraptor-like body type, rather than a Smaug-ish one, though I suppose for its reference to work, it needed a bipedal bordering-on-anthropomorphic body type.
6. Rate Darkarm’s design
4 - See above.
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL)
2 - With a lack of knight-based dragons in the game I get why it's this, but I can't help but feel like something's not quite right about it. Iron, Steel, Forge, Palladium, Vanguard, Armament, Loot, even Nether would've worked better than Darcowl and Barbarous, Misfortune, Zombie, Ouroboros, Victory, Valor, Fortified, Curse, or Decay would've worked better than Nightmare in my opinion.
8. How much do you like Darkarm (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)
3 - It's alright, would be better if it wasn't based on Monty Python, but that's just my own bias.
Comments/feedback for Deca
If a dragon from another event fits the current one, don't be afraid to bring it back in its off-season for a new dragon's combo.
1. 5/5 Funny & silly animation 2. 4/5 Could always add a little more for my taste but nice enough 3. 5/5 Expected it to be huge & glad it isn’t 4. 5/5 A surprisingly good price 5. 5/5 Obviously you need to read its description but that’s fair enough. Love the Monty Python reference 6. 4/5 Really like the colouring although it doesn’t stand out so good in the Apocalypse habitat 7. 3/5 Not sure about Darcowl & so many long fails 8. 4/5 I like it, I don’t love it
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Darkarm’s design: 5
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL): 2
8. How much do you like Darkarm: 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: Love that Darkarm’s arms and leg fall off, such a great reference to Monty Python’s Dark Knight. He should be a bit bigger, as a Dark Knight guarding bridges he needs to be a more imposing figure. The traiting is subtle, but there wasn’t anything left to put a trait on and any more would have been too much. Darcowl is OK as a parent, but Nightmare is a dream dragon. The only fitting thing about Nightmare as a parent is that Darkarm was a nightmare to breed. It gives the impression that Nightmare was chosen to make the dragon difficult to impossible to breed. There were so many long fails as it was a five element combo. Overall a great addition to the Vale spoiled by the breeding combo.

1. Animation: 5/5, The standout feature of this dragon, it very much reminds me of Barkskin's horn-falling animation. The two have completely different characters though, with Barkskin's shock being replaced with a sort of funny little frustrated hobble from the Darkarm dragon, which makes it even funnier in contrast to how evil it looks. All of this ties in super neatly to the Monty Python character, with both vigor and frustration at its frailty coming across perfectly, and hilariously
2. Rift trait: 4/5, Subtle
3. Size: 4/5, Small enough to guard a bridge but large enough to appreciate its animation.
4. Price (11,500 Magic): 3/5, Cheaper than usual but still expensive.
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event: 3/5, The reference this dragon embodies is medieval, but I think it isn't obvious just from the design or even description when judged for itself.
6. Rate Darkarm’s design: 4/5, A classic dragon archetype makes complete sense for this dragon, given the stereotypical knight it's referencing, and I don't have any issues with having more classic dragons in the game, they're solidly designed. That being said, it's kind of odd to connect it back to the Monty Python character without any sort of knight imagery, like maybe his helmet being implemented somewhere?
7. Breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL): 2/5, I'm confused on this one. It's easier to see connections to plenty of other dragons even with very little thematic relation, like the barkskin dragon, and I'm completely lost on what any of this has to do with the apocalypse element.
8. How much do you like Darkarm: 4/5, I thoroughly enjoy a classic dragon design, and the comedy of its animation and personality do a great deal to make this dragon stand out in a park. I really love its description as well, despite being a reference to a real life film, I think it does a good job at integrating the character into the world in a comedic way. My only main complaint is that it should have some sort of extra "knight" aspect to it.
3. Size (if you don’t own Darkarm, please check a friend’s park) 4
4. Price (11,500 Magic) 4
5. How well does Darkarm fit the theme of the event 5
6. Rate Darkarm’s design 5
7. How would you rate Darkarm’s breeding combo (NIGHTMARE + DARCOWL) 3
8. How much do you like Darkarm (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: Absolutely love the Monty Python references and Black Knight animation. Totally made me laugh. I could show Darkarm to my family and they fully got the charm too.
