I looked into GOT after seeing Peter Dinklage win an Emmy for his role on the show and hearing some hype about it. I quickly caught up On Demand. Love it! Season two is even better! I think I might buy the books today.
It's funny that he got an Emmy (absolutely deserved) cos where else would he have gotten such a complex character as Tyrion to play except in GOT!
I love him think he's brill lol and I love his name x

That's great news. I just did the same too. I love the show and can't wait to start the books. Still trying to finish up a series that I am reading but will get to it soon.
Ok, you guy/gals have my attention, this sounds like a very interesting book series. I looked online and could find 4, but then saw that a 5th has been released and it is part 1 of the 5th book? Is This right? I vowed with Stephen King that I would never again start a series until it is completed. Am I at risk for getting hooked now?

I normally don't read series books, but I am hooked. I was able to get all 4 books on amazon for $20. The fifth book on amazon will not be released until August, but you can pre-order.

I love series, I just don't like series that don't end. Always leery something will happen to keep the author from completing the series. Maybe I should just wait, lol.

Not sure why you're sorry ...
I'm sorry for those people who may be thinking 7 books may be too much - personally, I love it, the more there is the richer the story becomes!

No, not afraid of long series, just series that never get finished, for whatever reason. Stephen King's Gunslinger series was a good example. He kept putting off finishing the series and was hit by a car, nearly putting an end to his life. Just like to have long series completely written before getting hooked on them.
Some authors write their series so that each one is a book of their own where you could stop at any point without a cliff-hanger. Are these books stand-alone, or to-be-continued type?

I am with you Shirley...I don't like to read them before they are finished either but I can't help it. I have to. Then I will go out of my mind until the others come out. lol

The Winds of Winter is book 6 and A Dream of Spring is book 7. I would think he could still do more if he wants to and they keep selling...

Then there is the problem of so much time between books that I forget and have to re-read to refresh the plot, lol.

I do that with series quite often. Just got the newest jean Auel and feel I should retread them all but there are so many others I need to read......
