Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of players’ assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
Since Deca asked players to rate their dragons and provided questions for the categories they would like to receive feedback on, please keep all comments related to the dragon. Opinions and suggestions about the selection process Deca utilises to add player-designed dragons into the game, requests to include or exclude a player’s dragons from the game, and other off-topic comments will not be passed on to Deca. In addition, excessively rude, graphic, or offensive remarks will not be relayed and could result in a ban. Criticism is certainly welcomed, but try to keep it constructive and relevant to the dragon.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on August 21st. At the end of the event, your ratings and comments will be passed on to the Deca DragonVale Team.
Please take a minute to rate the Deepest Depths dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each dragon.

1. Animation 3
2. Rift trait 3 other parts could've been traited but it's decent enough
3. Size (if you don’t own Grin, please check a friend’s park) 4
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons) 4 it would be half a point higher if it were rare, but since this dragon has low cloning odds, I don't feel I can rate it higher than 4 as it's only a third limited.
5. How well does Grin fit the theme of the event 5
6. Rate Grin’s design 5 this dragon fits this event so well, but it would also work well as a Halloween dragon. I like the spooky-but-not-gross vibe.
7. How would you rate Grin’s breeding combo (CHIMMIT + ABYSS) 5
8. How much do you like Grin (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5
Comments/feedback for Deca Thanks for changing the Misfortune parent to Abyss. It's a lot more reasonable and also makes more sense, especially since Abyss is literally grinning all of the time. (Honestly it feels like an initial missed opportunity. I can see where people got Misfortune from, but Abyss is so much better related, so much so that as soon as I decided I wanted to suggest different combos I gravitated straight towards Abyss. It does feel like forced difficulty may have at least been a small factor in initially choosing Misfortune.)
Aura doesn't fit this dragon at all, and now that Misfortune is no longer required, Apocalypse doesn't a large amount either. This dragon should really have been changed to rare.
1. 5/5 Okay so it’s not particularly animated but I could look at this one all day 2. 5/5 Perfectly placed, not too distracting but effective 3. 4/5 A rare complaint for me but could be bigger 4. 4/5 I always want to pay less 5. 5/5 A perfect fit (& looks great in the new habitat) 6. 5/5 When I saw the initial picture I didn’t think the actual dragon would live up to it, it does 7. 5/5 A combination that’s both simple & makes sense 8. 5/5 Love it

GRIN DRAGON
1. Animation 3Meh I’m not a big fan
2. Rift trait 5
3. Size (if you don’t own Grin, please check a friend’s park) 5
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons) 2…..as usual
5. How well does Grin fit the theme of the event 5!
6. Rate Grin’s design 5
7. How would you rate Grin’s breeding combo (CHIMMIT + ABYSS) 1: why is it so HARD to get the parents in the rift?? (Chimmit, Valeodon, Kaiju, Zilla and so on)
8. How much do you like Grin (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 5
5 - Good, makes sense, utilizes unique components of the dragon.
2. Rift trait
4 - Best possible placement for it, but I maybe would have traited the eye as well.
3. Size (if you don’t own Grin, please check a friend’s park)
1 - Wayyyy too small.
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons)
2 - Should be maybe 2,000 Doubloons cheaper.
5. How well does Grin fit the theme of the event
5 - Perfect.
6. Rate Grin’s design
2 - Cool design bogged down by an incredibly unappealing texture.
7. How would you rate Grin’s breeding combo (CHIMMIT + ABYSS)
4 - Makes more sense than the original. In both the original's case and the new combo's case, the Aura element doesn't really make any sense, though.
8. How much do you like Grin (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)
3 - Wish it looked more cohesive with the rest of the game, but is a pretty dope dragon. It should definitely have the Aura element removed though.

I appreciate that y'all like to give your artists creative freedom, but cohesion is important for the game to look attractive to new players and not be off-putting for old players.
5. How well does Grin fit the theme of the event: 5
6. Rate Grin’s design: 5
7. How would you rate Grin’s breeding combo (CHIMMIT + ABYSS): 5
8. How much do you like Grin: 5
Comments/feedback for Deca: Nice design, but Grin could be a bit bigger, he is a bit underwhelming – not longer but a bigger body. Really fits the theme of Deepest Depths, some of the other dragons are more ‘beachy’. Great colours and perfect trait placement. Like this dragon a lot except for its aura element. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the aura dragons. It is too menacing and looks like it would eat them all for breakfast. Thank you for losing Misfortune from the breeding combo.
Animation: 2/5 Grin's mouth is layered poorly, so when it moves it appears to have two bottom jaws.
Size: 2.5/5 Grin is too small. WAYY too small.
Trait: 5/5 Grin's trait on the lures is perfect.
Price: 4.5/5 Overall it's not a bad price for so far into the event.
Theme: 5/5 Now THIS is a dragon from the abyss.
Design: 5/5 A fierce dragon from the underseas, Grin is here to bring the depths to the Vale!
Combo: 5/5 Far better than its previous combo.
Preference: 4/5 Grin's design is stunning but too small to see. On top of that, it's yet another apocalypse dragon which makes the need for a giant apocalypse habitat bigger than it already had been.
The Original One is in all things. The Original One is nowhere at all. From all creations, over all creations, does Arceus watch over all.

Comments/feedback for Deca I fail to see how this should be apocalypse, I've been noticing that the apocalypse element nowadays is reserved for scary/edgy dragons Aura/apocalypse is a weird element combo choice, I really don't know how to feel about it

Grin’s body is a little stiff in the animation, but the tail, tentacles, and fishing rod/modified dorsal fin are nicely animated.
I love that the esca is traited! With the fire or light trait, it will lead the way into the deep sea. And the fantastic detail of the pharyngeal double lower jaw and huge overbite gives Grin the fright from the darkest waters.
The all-anglerfish breeding combo works. But why, oh why, does Grin have the Apocalypse and Aura elements?? It looks like Deca is throwing random epic elements on dragons just to make them epics. Why?
Grin fits the event, as anglerfish embody the deep ocean, but DV already has two anglerfish-inspired dragons. Even though Grin looks different, with so many terrifying and enormously fascinating deep-sea creatures, it would’ve been nice to take a different route and explore the deepest depths.

Comments:
Finally a true deep depths dragon from Deca. This is Deep Sea Chimmit. I can get behind an anglerfish dragon, but couldn't Deca have made it a stand alone, interesting design? I'm so underwhelmed by Grin. Probably the most interesting part is the extra jaw. But I can barely even see it (almost looks like a mistake). The animations aren't particularly interesting either. The evil laugh is the best part. There were so many things to do with an anglerfish and it's not even a requirement for this dragon. If the bobble wasn't there, it would be the same dragon, named for its toothy grin. What a waste of an angler design. On the bright side, it actually looks like Chimmit's baby, so there's that.
I do like the colours and the price and the baby. The new breeding combo is much better. I think the two epic elements should have been stripped from it when Misfortune was replaced though. What about this dragon says either apocalypse or aura? Aura especially.

1. Animation: 3/5, I like a lot of the follow through on the antenna-thingies, it gives a great impression of underwater inertia! But the stiff unmoving tail seems like it doesn't fit the intention with the design. The stiffness runs through all the animations which really impacts that floaty underwater feel. I also feel like more could have been done with the "angler" aspect?
2. Rift trait: 5/5, perfect! Reminds me of the bioluminescence!
3. Size: 1/5, too small! Especially for a deep sea dragon.
4. Price (14,000 Doubloons): 3/5
5. How well does Grin fit the theme of the event: 5/5, a classic deep sea creature!
6. Rate Grin’s design: 4/5, not my cup of tea, but a great angler fish design! I love the wide open disk-eyes and huge mouth, plus the dark blue colour scheme makes perfect sense.
7. How would you rate Grin’s breeding combo (CHIMMIT + ABYSS): 5/5, both angler dragons, it makes perfect sense and isn't too difficult.
8. How much do you like Grin: 4/5, a fun dragon with a great concept that was well executed design-wise, but let down a bit with stiff animation.
