The following are terms that are frequently used when discussing various ways to find your way around the Forum.
Navigation Bar
The navigation bar is located at the top of the Forum, just beneath the banner image

Home Page
The Home page is the first page you see when you open dragonvale-tips.proboards.com. Click Home on the navigation bar to display the Home page.
Categories
The Home page will show all the Forum’s categories: DV Help Desk, DV Discussions - All Active Threads, and Reference Desk. If you joined the Spoiler Group to have access to spoilers, there will also be a category called Spoiler Lounge.
DV Help Desk: A resource centre that contains information, tips, and strategies about DragonVale and the DragonVale Community Forum. All the threads are locked to ensure the information remains intact and doesn't become lost in discussion posts.
DV Discussions - All Active Threads: All the current active threads on the Forum. View this category to find the latest information about the game, the current event, Deca announcements, DV features, rate the dragons, players’ art and creativity, co-op requests, find new DV friends, and to play games and enter contests. Please post questions, comments, and replies on the threads, and we will assist you.
Reference Desk: Inactive, expired, and locked threads.
Spoiler Lounge: Home of The Spoiler Contest and a place to chat about DV spoilers. Members must join the Spoiler Group to see this category and its content. How to join the Spoiler Group instructions.

Boards
Under each category, there are boards listed. For example, the second category in the below image is called DV Discussions - All Active Threads. It includes the boards: All Things DragonVale, Rate a Dragon, Friends Centre, The Colosseum, DragonVale Gallery & Member Creativity, Game Room, and DragINN. Each board has a brief description of its contents.

Threads
If you click on a board, all the threads housed on the board will show. The All Things DragonVale board is the largest on the Forum because it covers a wide variety of DV topics.

If you click on a thread, it will open and you can read the posts and reply (please see How to Post/Reply). The first post on the thread provides an introduction to the thread and describes its purpose and the content players can post on it. The most recent post will be the last one on the thread. When a thread is locked/expired, it is moved to the Reference Desk category.
Announcements
At the top of some boards, you’ll see pinned threads. These threads are called Announcements (sometimes boards will have sub-boards above the announcement threads). Due to their important information, Announcements remain at the top of most boards so they do not get lost. They have a different icon than the other threads and are separate from the board threads with a thick borderline.

On the navigation bar, if you click New Posts, it will display all the threads on the Forum (there are thousands) and list them in chronological order with the most recent posts.
The New Posts navigation method can be ideal for members who login frequently and don’t mind seeing a very large number of threads. But if you haven’t visited the Forum in a while, only interested in certain topics, or you’re looking for a specific thread, it’s highly advisable to click on the boards on the Home page so you don’t have to scroll through pages of threads. Please see the How to Navigate the Forum post above.
Participated
If you’re a Forum member and logged in, you will see a Participated button on the right side of the Forum by the navigation bar.
Participated lists all the threads you recently interacted with or posted on. This is a quick way find a thread that you recently visited. However it is not recommended to navigate the Forum, since you will miss all new threads and any new updates on threads that you have not engaged with recently.

(#1) If you click on the thread title (see image below), the first post on the first page of the thread will open.
(#2) If you click on New (see image below) the last post you have not seen will open. This post and all the ones below it are new. If you use New Posts (on the navigate bar), this shortcut is only active on the first page of threads. New Posts lists every thread on the Forum, including expired, locked threads that have not been active in 12 years. You must be a member and logged in to see the 'New' feature.
(#3) If you click on the space in front of the timestamp by the latest poster (see image below), the last post on the thread will open. This tip is only active on the first page of threads under New Posts. The second page on does not recognise the shortcut.
If you’re not a member, or not logged in, you can still use tips #1 and #3.

On 27 January 2022, some dragon friends joined the Forum. The Forum can sometimes have lengthy pages with long posts and lots of images. To help you navigate a little faster, Davinese and Fissure are here to give you a hand.
On the right side of the screen, you’ll see either endearing Davinese jumping UP in an effort to fly, or delightful Fissure cracking DOWN on the surface. If you click on Davinese, you’ll be sent soaring to the top of the page.
If you click on Fissure, you’ll be directed down to the bottom of the page. This means Fissure is only visible at the top of the page.
You can also return to the top of the page by using the Home button on your computer keyboard, and on an iPad or iPhone, tap the top of the screen. There’s also the slightly cumbersome gear icon on each Forum post, click it and in the drop-down menu select Back to Top.
But none of these options include dragons. So clearly it was very necessary to add the upward Davinese and the downward Fissure.
