DragonVale is almost perpetually in an event. Events run back to back with few breaks in between. Each event lasts around 5-7 weeks, and they always introduce new dragons and decorations. Having some event tips handy can help players earn more event currency and complete their collections.

The Double Day schedule has remained the same since Deca Games acquired DragonVale in 2020. On rare occasions, Deca will move a Double Day, other times it’s accidentally missed, or a bug may result in Double Day not running. When this occurs, Double Day is usually rescheduled.
Double Day occurs every weekend on Saturday and Sunday and one day during the week.
Double Day (weekdays)
Day 6 - Tuesday Day 14 - Wednesday Day 22 - Thursday Day 28 - Wednesday Day 34 - Tuesday Day 42 - Wednesday

Triple Day
There have been several Triple Days since events were introduced in 2012. Ever since Deca Game took over DragonVale in 2020, the only scheduled Triple Day occurs during the winter event on 25 December.

Occasionally, Deca will hold a Triple Day to compensate for a bug that resulted in players losing event currency

Double Day Trick
When Double Day concludes at the daily reset (14:00 UTC), the mini-games and Tolzar’s Optical Oracle ads will reset. But Double Day will still be active for approximately 30 seconds. Therefore, if you’re in the game at 14:00 UTC, you can watch an ad for double the event currency (100 EC), or play the mini-games for double rewards. Name That Egg is a great option if you know your eggs and can complete all five plays. Please be aware that sometimes the 30-second lag doesn’t occur, so the Double Day trick can’t be applied.

On the event island, there is usually an amphitheatre/arena where players can select one of their dragons and a friend’s dragon to compete and win event currency. The name of the amphitheatre changes with each event. From 2023-2024, it has been called Fair Grounds (Upheaval of the Medieval), Budding Hunt (Bountiful Picnic), Produce of Love (Flower Festival), Garland Land (Snowy Winter Ball), Mausoleum Colosseum (Into the Screamhouse), Proving Grounds (Camping Under the Stars II), and Refreshing Waters (Dunes of Magic).

How to play the event island challenge
1. Click on the amphitheatre, and a challenge will show. There are four elements associated with the challenge in the Challenges header. In the image below, light, metal, plant, and lightning are the elements. Your dragon and your friend’s dragon combined must contain all four elements to receive the maximum amount of EC.
2. Select your dragon and your friend’s dragon. Your friends’ dragons are those they are currently sharing at the Cooperative Breeding Cave. It doesn’t matter which dragons are covering the elements. One dragon can cover three of the required elements, and the other can cover one element. You can also cover more elements that aren’t associated with the challenge.
The epic dragons’ hidden primary elements DO count. So, using a dragon that contains all 10 elements like Rainbow is very helpful.
3. Press the Start button to begin. The challenge will take six hours to complete. Kairos’ powers can speed up the process.
Players can win 30, 20, or 10 EC on regular days and 60, 40, or 20 EC on Double Days.
To be sure you receive the maximum amount:
• Use level 20 dragons (both yours and your friend’s), an elder dragon works too. The higher the dragon level, the greater the chance you’ll receive the maximum reward. Level 20 dragons and elders provide the same chance.
• Be sure all four elements associated with the challenge are covered between your dragon and your friend’s dragon
• Please be aware that even if you match the elements and use level 20 dragons, there is still a small chance you could receive less than the maximum amount. There’s no guarantee you’ll always win, much like the competition at the Colosseum.
• There is a limit of five challenges per day, but players won’t reach this cap unless they’ve been able to use Kairos twice in a day (this is only possible while levelling up Kairos).
PRO TIP
Be sure to add the Rainbow park — RAINBOW#9358. This park has the Rainbow dragon permanently available at the Cooperative Breeding Cave so you can use any level 20 dragon or elder with it and obtain the maximum amount of event currency from the challenge. Post on the Cooperative Requests thread indicating that you added the Rainbow park, provide your Friend ID, and I will add you back.

Do you need to earn event currency and have some free time? Plant farming (also called Plant grinding) may be your answer.
Plant farming is the somewhat tedious task of breeding two Plant dragons over and over in the Vale to obtain event currency. Since the Plant dragon only has a 5-second breeding/incubation time, it’s the ideal dragon to farm for EC.
1. Breed Plant + Plant at a breeding location in the Vale = earn 1 EC 2. Tap on the breeding cave when the breed is done (❤️ icon shows), and tap the Place in Nursery button = earn 1 EC 3. When the egg is done incubating, select the egg (hatch) and the Sell button = earn 1 EC 4. At the breeding cave, tap the Retry button to breed Plant + Plant again
• A total of 3 EC is earned in the above cycle (steps 1-3) on regular days, 6 EC on Double Days, and 9 EC on a Triple Day.
• Instead of selling, you can pedestal the egg by tapping the Display button and earning 2 EC. Although it’s more EC, many players prefer to sell because it’s faster.
• There is a cap on the amount of EC that can be earned from breeding/incubating per day, but it is extremely high, so it’s unlikely players will reach the limit.
• Plant farming can be performed at the Runic Breeding Caves, but it is less advantageous because there is no EC earned for placing the egg in the nursery or hatching/selling the egg since RBC eggs are not incubated, they’re added to the RBC Egg History.
PRO TIPS
• Plant farm on Double Days or a Triple Day to maximise the EC earning amount and make Plant farming more worthwhile. Watch a movie or television series so the chore is less painful.
• Be sure to add the Plant park — PLANT#8761. The park has the Plant dragon permanently available at the Cooperative Breeding Cave, so you can plant farm at the co-op. The Plant dragon is also beneficial if you collect twins. After breeding a twin, the next 4 breeds at the co-op only have a 1% chance of being a twin. Breeds 5-15 are 15%, and 16+ are 25%. Once you breed a twin, it resets back to 1%. So after receiving a twin, use the Plant park to breed Plant + Plant in the co-op four times in a row to eliminate the measly 1% chance. Please post on the Cooperative Requests thread indicating that you added the Plant park, provide your Friend ID, and I will add you back.

Daily Rewards calendar from Upheaval of the Medieval
The event daily rewards calendar can be accessed on the event island. The name of the calendar changes with each event. From 2023-2024, it has been called Grafted Giftstone (Upheaval of the Medieval), Picnic Supplies (Bountiful Picnic), Love Potion Refinery (Flower Festival), Tower of Gifts (Snowy Winter Ball), Butterfly Boutique (Into the Greenhouse), Portal of Portends (Whitbee’s Candy Bash X), Participation Station (Camping Under the Stars II), and Refreshing Waters (Dunes of Magic).
Each day, a new prize unlocks at the game’s daily reset. For the final day, you can select an event dragon. Most of the dragons from the event market are in the selection, except the new dragons in the last tier of the market and the new limited dragons.
Should I Spend Gems to Catch Up?
If you miss a day, the prize will remain locked. But do not fret, the rewards calendar is always four or more days shorter than the event. Continue to log in every day, and you’ll be able to catch up. If you’ve missed too many days, you can use gems to unlock the remaining prizes, but wait until the final days of the event to see how much it will cost.
Players only have to log in to DragonVale at least once a day for the reward to unlock. And they have until the event concludes (the last day to earn event currency) to collect the rewards.
CHOOSE THE TRAIT FROM THE EVENT DAILY REWARDS FINAL PRIZE & RUNIC CAVES
If you own the twin version of a dragon, you will be offered the traited-twin version for the last daily reward. Follow the below steps to see what the traits look like on the dragon, and pick the trait you want!
How to select a trait from the final reward dragon
1. Tap the final reward on the event calendar and the Choose a Dragon list will show.
2. Tap the '?' next to the dragon you want to claim (if you already own the twin version, you will be offered the traited-twin). The dragon’s profile card will show with its image and trait.
3. If you don’t like the trait on the dragon, close the Choose a Dragon menu and the event calendar.
4. Reopen the calendar and Choose a Dragon, scroll to the dragon to see another random trait.
5. Repeat the process until the desired trait appears.
NOTE: The traits you are offered will only be traits you do not own for the selected dragon. If you own all ten traits, you’ll be given a random trait.
Runic Breeding Caves
When claiming a traited-twin dragon at the Runic Breeding Caves, click the Claims Left button at a Runic Breeding Cave. The Choose a Dragon list will display, find the dragon you need, and tap the '?'. The dragon’s info card will show and you can see what the trait looks like on the dragon. If you don’t like the trait, close Choose a Dragon, click the Claims Left button again, and you’ll be offered a different trait. Repeat until the correct trait appears.
PRO TIP
If you need a traited version of a dragon from the final reward but don’t have the twin, wish for the twin at the Wishing Well first, and then you’ll be able to select the traited-twin version of the dragon from the final reward.
