I am a new player looking for advice. The last two colosseum events have only produced silver medals. Even though I used a level 10 dragon of the same element as the competition. Could this have to do with the fact that I made them younger in the fountain of youth? Just thought they looked cuter that way. But if it's going to cost me, I'll change them back...

(1) Colesseum gold metals. Far and away #1. The XP you earn is said to be connected to the value of all the dragons you have in your park. If you have a lot of Baby dragons you won't earn as many XP as if you have a lot of Level 10-15 dragons (unless they are "Turbo Babies - high level dragons that have been made younger in the Fountain of Youth). As an aside, of course you also earn gold coins. When you win a Gold Medal you are credited with a days worth of earnings for the dragon that you entered into the competition (unboosted): 24 hours x 60 minutes for 1440 minutes by their earn rate. A Silver Medal earns half their daily earnings and a Bronze earns a third.
It's not uncommon to not win gold with level 10 dragons. The higher the level the better chance you have. It will get better once you can level them beyond 10, but still no guarantee of a gold.
This question is for those that don't have their Plant Shrine to Silver yet. What dragon are you using for the Plant competition? Everything I use gets Silver, never a Gold, and it's starting to annoy me. Even my Plant's are getting Silver. *whimpers*
All my Dragons are level 10, and hopefully I'll get the Silver Shrine soon and can level 1 of my Plants to 15 to see if that helps, but I've received Gold on all the other types, just not the Plant one and I find that odd.

I had mixed luck with Willow, Cactus and Swamp. Was a fairly even split between Gold/Silver. koala, know it is frustrating.
Thanks Shirley. I think I'll try a Cactus next time, since they're out attempting Peridot's anyways.
justjennifer, that is just so wrong..............LOL I used my 10/Plant yesterday and still got Silver. Maybe I should try my other Plant, as Glenn just isn't getting it done.

Hi Tina,
I've read that the Coliseum calculation is quite complex, and a combination of several factors.
In short, the Coliseum considers the value of your entire park, balanced against the level of the dragon you are putting in to compete, and adds a dash of random, to determine the ultimate result.
So, if you are level 15, with a park value of 1M$ and you put a level 2 dragon in the Coliseum, you are likely to get Bronze (for example).
It sounds like you are saying that all your dragons get gold regularly, except for in plant competitions. I would chalk that up to the "dash of random" I mentioned above.
That being said, there's a 90% chance I don't know what I'm talking about.

This doesn't help you, but...I accidentally put a lvl 15 Panlong in the plant comp, got a siver medal. I had really expected bronze, since even my high level basics seem to get only silver & once in a while, bronze. So surely a dragon with none of the elements would get only bronze. But no. I do know that after I leveled up as many of my shrines as possible to silver, I started to get many more gold medals.

My 5 yr old gson was so excited when he could buy the coliseum. Then he didn't have the correct dragon, so decided to use whatever, was thrilled that he got a bronze medal. He had been watching some of the Olympics with us, so he knew getting any medal was to be celebrated! He was as proud as if he had competed himself!

I don't know whether the lev. of the drake you use is important or not, I suppose Yes. I didn't know the value price of the 3 medals, related to the earning rate of the dragon you put in, this is fantastic! Looking at my medals history, I can understand that pure element beasts are not always the best choice since some of the best medals are linked to Sonic, Moss, Firefly And, what about metal competitions? I've always used until now the metal drake, I've got only that one, and it's a straight silver every freaking time, so... Now in a earth comp. I'm using a Mud, see how he goes!

Magnetic seems to be the only dragon that gets me a gold. koala!
I've been getting a variety of Golds and Silvers in here. Some are hybrid dragons some aren't. Some are lvl 10 some aren't. I put in the dragon that works with the element that isn't in my breeding line up...otherwise I get annoyed.

Well, i make my life easy, before putting a dragon in the arena, i look at the trophees received, ie of course the list of gold trophees and I just put exactly the same dragon which already won gold for that element, it works 99.9 % of times and i get a gold reward.

I pretty much do the same. Keeping a list of winners helps a lot.
