Just got another Ghost with Mountain and Air while trying for Lunar Eclipse.
Does the "retry" button affect breeding odds? That is, do consecutive tries with the same breeding pair give you a better chance of eventually getting a desired dragon?

It hasn't been tested, that I know of, but doubt the retry button has any effect on the outcome. It's just for convenience.

If there is 7% chance (to pick a number at random) of breeding a dragon, then it doesn't matter which dragon types, how old they are, or if they are seasoned breeders or "pure of spirit".
Very new to the game and I'm posting for the first time to note that I was able to get a Ghost egg from breeding Plant + Glacier.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this because I've only seen combinations of earth + cold listed for Ghost so I wasn't expecting this result at all.
Is this kind of anomaly normal when breeding dragons?
Hello nyx, welcome to the forum.
Yes, it's quite normal for DV. Glacier contains both - earth and cold. When two dragons in DV are breeding all elements they have get in a pool. The elements for the new dragon are chosen a bit randomly out of this pool. There are some restrictions. For more details you can check here But the heredity in DV is not like Mendelson, it is possible (and really normal) that the new dragon gets his elements only from one parent, it doesn't have to get an element from each parental side.

Yes, it doesn't quite work that way. Although the new breeding rules get closer to what is a logical outcome in breeding.
any suggestions for Novembers gemstone since its less than 48 hrs away ? thanks!
Topaz requires CACTUS + FIREFLY. It's the only possible combo. The next Quarterly gemstone dragon should also be showing up some time in November, but as it's a new dragon we don't know what the combo will be for that one yet.
Piece of info: i tried DR + DR and got two ghosts and a new DR! so odds are not so bad. This was a good pick as I let it for one day on the island, then actionned Kairo and used gems to finish the hatching etc. gave me a nice bunch of MP, ie 82. I needed them to reach the top of the 14000 hurdle.
So, after keeping my evergreen and quake dragons imprisoned in the sanctuary for over a week now (poor things), I've had no luck getting Amber but I've got plenty of luck when it comes to double Rainbow, incubating my second right now....yay, I guess?
And to my surprise, I found myself only mildly happy when I got 48 hours in cave with Air and Lava, which will hopefully be a solar eclipse but with my current luck, it'll end up being another rainbow. Never thought I'd be ho hum about getting rainbow dragons. But more than that, I think I was a bit bummed that both of my breeding areas were going to be completely out of bounds for the next couple days, I didn't expect that.

You'd have to be really unlucky for that! Hehe, I've been there before, so many 48 hr fakeouts.
Haha, and that's exactly why I'm still half expecting to get a rainbow because my luck tends to be abysmally unlucky. Still, it's nice to know there is such a thing as 48hr fakeouts so perhaps my typical kind of luck might change down the road as far as DV is concerned.
Edit: Turns out the double rainbow I thought I was getting was actually Moon. Yay! The epic breeding times always trip me up. It was straight 48 hours which is the correct time for double rainbow in the epic breeding sanctuary...so anyway, glad I was wrong. ;D

anyone else wish we had a third breeding option? or am i just in the midst of mid- level blues? sigh!
