I have been trying to maximise my breeding chances under the new rules since Dark arrived. With Jet needing the rare Frostfire, I have been breeding Dark with Frostfire in the expectation of possibly lucking out to get a second Frostfire.
Just checked the combo in the sandbox, and it does not seem to be possible. But surely, with all the elements needed there, it should be a possibility? Frostfire x Frostfire gives Cold, Fire and Frostfire...
Why does Dark x Frostfire only result in Watch and Dungeon?

Frostfire requires a Cold + any Fire Hybrid.
Or you can do Frostfire + Frostfire to use the Cloning rules.
Why does Dark x Frostfire only result in Watch and Dungeon?
Because there are no possible Dark + Cold hybrids yet.
Fire and Cold are Oppostes, so they don't normally interact.
I've trying to get Jet since it was released and I got nada for days, then two rainbows nearly back to back, not even a Sun which is supposedly a tiny bit easier to get, right? Is Rainbow really a %1 chance because I seem to get it extremely easy (anecdotal yes, but grrr, so annoying! ).
Then finally just now I got a 1:05:59 time, so I'm pretty sure I got it since that is 30hrs. Phew! Really relieved it wasn't another rainbow, I really don't want to start hating on rainbow but I think I'm starting to head in that direction.
It says "Scoria can't be bred with Iron and Metal/Earth" and " Forge can't be bred with Brass and Metal/Fire" Uncommon rules are no longer in effect. Please update.

I read it over, it still says it for Rain, 'save water/fog, air/fog, and fog/rain.'

It is only 1% if you really want it. There needs to be an option added to the sandbox for "want it / don't want it" odds.
Speaking of my Rainbow, I got it 1st try wit a juv. Quake and an adult Pollen (both below ten; don't remember exact levels) on the breeding cave. My friend tried that combo and got GOly 1st try (Did not know the levels, she did it on cave.)
In the combo finder, there is an avoid option select Rainbow in there and it will take away all combos that result in Rainbow ( Unless the dragon you're shooting for naturally has Rainbow fails).

Haha, for sure! As much as I liked the idea of a Rainbow dragon, since I've started playing, I've never tried to get one because I was primarily trying to hurriedly breed limited gem dragons before their time ran out, or I'd try for sun/moon but as of right now I have four rainbows and two double rainbows (double arc en ciel ), and only one moon, without trying to get either and I've only been playing for little over a month.
So it's really hard for me to not feel cynical about this and assume that the Rainbows are the unofficial booby prize of Dragonvale.

Maybe this is a stupid question...looking for a simple list of each dragon and what this group recommends as the best como (s) to breed... On iohine there was agreat app for this--not available on android...

I suggest hecking out the Monthly Forecast as it has all the Limited dragons, along with suggested combos.

Looking for ANY suggestions...been trying to breed a garnet for three weeks constantly and only two days left ; ( plenty of smoke and shorter breedtimes but no luck.started with level 12 and havelbleveled up to 15.5 in breeding cave sanctuary...afraid to move to ebs--dont want to reset that tries counter...sigh. any thoughts (same with jet btw...its in the ebs but only level 14 dragons there) Correct typos

All I can suggest is maybe concentrate on garnet. Jet should be with us for a couple more weeks yet. And to the best of my knowledge, BFS don't keep a tries counter. And keep trying until it vanishes from the market. Near as I could tell, I got topaz (147 tries) about 10 MINUTES before it left the market. I will admit to spending quite a few gems towards the end.

I'd see no reason not to breedfor Garnet in both locations for the time being, assuming you have 2 Smoke and 2 Obsidian.
There is no "tries counter". You have the exact same percentage chance of producing a dragon on the first attempt as you do on the 300th.
There IS a greater % chance of getting a Garnet on the Island than there is in the Cave. And this is one of the dragons that is flagged to recieve a boost for using high level parent dragons too, though how high that boost is and how it stacks with the boost form the Island is debatable...

It says on one of the tip screens that using higher level parents helps with breeding gemstones and some others. Prior to that, testing did not reflect an increased chance for gemstones when using level15 and above parents. However, no significant testing has been done since this tip screen appeared. That is why we have no idea what kind of increase can be expected.
