Hand raised, I have a question....pick me pick me.
Missing my morning hot tea, chamomile to be exact, my memory is . How do you know which dragon is flagged to receive a boost from using higher parents? Think this is the first time that I read this (dragon is flagged), per BFS?
Me and my question...got to ask. . Thanks.
It says on one of the tip screens that using higher level parents helps with breeding gemstones and some others. Prior to that, testing did not reflect an increased chance for gemstones when using level15 and above parents. However, no significant testing has been done since this tip screen appeared. That is why we have no idea what kind of increase can be expected.
Got it now! It's coming back slowly, and honestly I have not seen that specific tip screen for quite some time. Thanks wapatango.

Okay I realize that A) I am a bit bitter after three weeks and no garnet and B) that I am still below level 30 in my park BUT is it just my imaginatiin or is it WAYYYYY harder to breed dragons than before the 2.0 version upgrade?! I agree it was a bit too predictable before the upgrade but NOW its virtually impossible! During the bring em back I only got 8 rare/epic dragons and I bred constantly...seriously I am not certain I am even going to try if it is this difficult!!!! Whine whine pout

My imagination will join you in your observation. I also have no evidence that things have changed - just a feeling. I breed just about round the clock. If I didn't get the dragon early on, I could count on it showing up at the last possible moment. I try to tell myself that this just makes the game last longer. (But I will still whine.)
I'm curious - the guide says that earth and metal are required to breed a bronze dragon, but the recommended combinations are air and iron or air and scoria (if I read the guide coreectly). Why is air involved?

Well, that's a really good question that I don't have a good answer for you. Air is not required, as you suspected.
Cleaning up the original post of this thread is on our list of to-do's. That includes checking the combos are still correct.
Thank you for pointing out the error, it will kick start us to move this chore up our list.

Air is involved because it greatly reduces the average fail time. By using air you have a chance of getting a 2 hour sandstorm. You can also get a 5 hour chrome. Since using air does not add any epic fails, it is the best way to go. I am currently using this combo myself in an attempt to get bronze.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

Ah! Makes sense. I've been through several painful periods of a few days at a time trying to get a bronze. No luck, but plenty of iron and scoria. It makes sense to add shorter time fails - as long as it also works! Eventually... thanks!!

Have faith, it will happen eventually, they all do.

I got my bronze - woo hoo!!
but I also had something really odd happen. I have two sun dragons and no moon dragon. So I decided to breed my su. Dragons at night (11pm on my device). When got a super long breeding time, I was really excited - until it got to the hatchery and it turned out to be a sun dragon! What? Does that always happen?

It used to always happen. Now it happens some of the time. If you breed two of the same dragon you always have a shot at getting the clone, which is a really great feature of the game. However, you can also get other results. If you keep breeding sun & sun you can get a moon eventually, I'm just not sure it is the most efficient way to get one. After all, you are losing the income from those two suns, plus you have a shot at getting more sun. However, if you use just cold & lightning elements, you can breed for moon at night without the risk of getting more of an unwanted dragon.

As Wapatango says, the clone rule means that you will ALWAYS have a chance at sun if you breed two together. Time of day does not affect the clone rule. In fact you have a 10 - 20% chance of sun! but only a 2 - 4% chance at moon with that combo. So you are better off with the basic breed. Firefly and hail minimizes fail times and breeding at night will eliminate sun as a fail.

Thanks GregDarcy and Wapatango! I'll steer clear of breeding things with themselves - it doesn't sound like a reliable way to breed. (c:

Heya folks! I'd like to get a dream, but I missed the window to get a love dragon (way back in February). Odd that it only asks for two other resources, but with love you actually add three. Does that help with fail times? Would a motley be a good substitute in that way of thinking? Is there another alternative that might be better? Thanks!! Bonnie P.S. I have a daydream in the hatchery - SO excited!

Hi Bonnie. A great resource to check out is the DV Breeding Sandbox. You can check the various breeding combos for Dream which will give you the average fail times as well as the min and max fails (this is personally important to me). Motley is a pretty good substitute if you don't have Love. Just keep in mind that you run the risk of getting a Rainbow or DR with either of those combos. If you need any help using the sandbox feel free to ask.

Welcome Bonnie, We are a friendly bunch here. Make sure to stay a while and look around.
Dream needs Light and dark and at least two other elements. As such, you will ALWAYS risk a rainbow fail. (Please note @kyoji21 ) By adding an extra element, the average fail time comes down to 8.8 hours from 10 or more. But that is only part of the story. Real fail times depend on when you can get back to check your park. Take the time to check out the second tab of the Sandbox. Click on "Combo Finder" to get to it.

As GregDarcy said, Dream needs Light and Dark and at least two other elements. I happened to use Radiant/Nightshade combo and got several Dreams. You can use any other combinations as long as the combo has light, dark and two other elements. I have not had a Daydream yet. I envy you.

Ugh too many Prisms and Leafs have gotten my head all fuzzy. Thanks for the correction.
