Hey Fletch, can I bug you one more time? I need 19 cold, 15 lichen, 30 lightning, and 33 metal left to complete the gold shrines. I have 19 lichen and 33 magnetic in the cave ready to be leveled up. Just looking to make sure that this is the best option before I dump all that food on them. BTW, I have a breeding pair of all dragons (except the platinum, that little bigger eludes me!)

Hi LB.
First, you're "location" (under your avatar) makes me angry and jealous.
Second, you posted that you need 19 Cold, 15 LICHEN?, 30 Lightning, and 33 Metal. Did you mean Plant instead of Lichen? And, excellent use of the "Oxford/Serial Comma" - which is my preference. +5 cool points.
I just did some math. 19 Lichen and 33 Magnetic = 52 dragons. If you were to do 30 Mag, 15 Lichen, 3 Storm, and 1 Cold/Storm/Lichen/Mine/Steel, you would need 49 dragons.
By feeding 3 fewer dragons to level 15, you save ~1M food.

Myke, yes on the plant/lichen typo, sorry. But thank you for the help, guidance very much appreciated. And thanks for the cool points, they are certainly needed!

While that math is correct, it doesn't work with the numbers LB supplied because you grabbed 3 more lightnings instead of 3 more Metals to combine with the cold. If you have 3 Mine/Steel to use instead of those Storm you're good to go.
Fletch, do you also offer services for Silver Shrines?
Well not really, because the Silver Shrines will take care of themselves on the way to Gold. If you don't have any Level 15 dragons yet, then working on the plan in the OP will get you there.
But if you want to post some numbers, I'll take a look at them because it's you.

I feel special
All I know from memory is that I have 3 Bronze shrines...so umm what is that 4 silvers? I'll hafta take a look at my stats...

Plant Shrine: I think has 5...memory is failing here Earth: 3 lvl15s Air: 2 lvl15s I dunno if Lightning has any...but I know my bronze Metal shrine is 27/50 ;D and my B.Cold shrine is 18/50 ;D
I'd be able to provide more than this if I had my laptop (grr) but I can edit this if I find new stuff out.

Hi Fletch, I just started my shrine strategy although I'm playing the game for a few months now. Just 3 shrines turned to silver so, if I understand it correctly, what I've done till now doesn't really matter. Just need some epic's, gems & opposites but have at least 2 dragons each of the others.
I've adopted the numbers on the first page. Very busy breeding blooms and panlongs now. Although this will offer me the least nr. of dragons to feed to lvl 20, it does not offer me the best cash strategy.
I liked the idea of a "Panlong Cash Island" so started to fill an Island with 13 Large Earths. I also want to show all my Epic's and Limiteds, at this moment that's 10 Epic habitats + a few standard habitats.
What's the best strategy for earning all the cash I need for feeding my "never have enough to eat" thunderbirds :-)

Hi there.
First up the shrines only count dragons fed to Level 15. This is good because it takes 320k food to feed a dragon to Level 15 and over 10 million food to get it to Level 20.
Secondly, it depends on how often you can check your game to clear your habitats. If you can log in every 60 minutes, then a Large earth habitat with 3 Level 15 Panlongs, and Fire and Water boosts (but not Earth or Air) is your best bet. If you can check in every 80 minutes or longer, than a Large Sun/Moon habitat with 3 LEvel 10 Blue Moon, Solstice, Solar or Lunar Eclipse (or any combination of these) is your best bet, as they earn 316 DC per minute and earn the 75 000 DC slightly slower than the double boosted Panlong, but are in a habitat with a far greater Cap.

30 Mag 15 Lichen 3 Mine 1 Storm
Thanks Fletch
Sorry for the confusion, LB. And thanks for the correction, Fletch.

Thanks, Totally forgot about the shrines only count to 15. So it IS interesting which dragons I already have. Means that I don't have to breed so many new ones. And there's nothing like platinum shrines?! Why feed dragons to level 20?
Oh, and it happened to be so that I allready have 9 LED, SED, Solstice and Blue Moon. Equinox and 2 Sun make 4 Sun/moon habitats. That's a good start anyway.
This is intended to be helpful, since I don't want to step on anyone's toes. There are probably other ways of keeping track of the shrine grind, but I made a spreadsheet. It's not completely intuitive, but essentially, you can put in however many dragons of any given type you have at level 15 in the far left column, and it will tell you how close you are to finishing any given elemental shrine. You can play with the distributions like Fletch provides. He probably uses his own proprietary spreadsheet that is far more sophisticated...
In the top "option" box, you can put in "1" or "2", and that would show you my own calculations for what would be required in addition to having one/two of each dragon at level 15 in order to make all shrines gold. If you put in "self", that activates the personalized column.
I made a couple of modifications, and now you can use it as a tool for "what do I still need?" Just enter in the number from the shrines on the "pre-existing" line, and you're on your way.

^^ That is very cool.
I must tell you I've been doing it manually up till now. But our new forum member Rynoster and I have been working on a spreadsheet to automate the process. We hope to have a beta test out for people to use pretty shortly ...
Feel free to use/modify the ideas I put out there. I made it so that people can only edit the blue boxes, and that way, the meat of the calculations can't be messed up by accident. I was trying to think of a way to completely automate the optimization process, but it would require a fair amount of recursive scripts, which I didn't feel like trying to work out. Granted, there are plenty of shortcuts you could use, but it's almost faster to do it by hand than have a computer do it for you...there are a lot of variables... - you would need to know what dragons are unavailable for breeding - you would want to take into account what dragons are already bred, but unfed - you could take into account varying levels of dragons, and how much food would still be needed for each dragon - you might want to take into account what sort of distribution of habitats there is on the islands - you might want to account for how much the hibernation chamber is upgraded - you could account for the time it takes to breed the dragons - you would need a way to subtract progress towards the shrines
Anyhow, my sheet is definitely not an automated tool, but it might help some people. I want to take a crack at automation, too...sounds challenging.
