I have been meaning to share this link but will give you a little background first. This woman does amazing art, especially dragons. I met her at a Renaissance fair a few years ago and actually bought five different dragon pieces from her. If I remember correctly she is from Ohio but travels the country to do the art fairs and such. Hope you enjoy her work. redrooart.com/

ElektronX I think we might be secretly twins (well in an art sense!) because I feel the same way as you. I love starting projects that are new and exciting but I can easily get in over my head. I'd like to give 3D a chance, but I don't know how much patience I have for it.
dragonmagic1 I just about had a heart attack when I saw the banner alone! A big old silver dragon. Just gorgeous!

Her art is outstanding and she is an extremely nice person. I almost couldn't get out of her booth even after the five dragons I purchased as there were about four more that I really wanted.

Wow, their time constraints are short! I haven't seen a single DV model posted yet.
You're welcome!
Yeah! Sadly there isn't one yet.
Ellie! I still don't get one thing after reading the details and thought of asking you. So do we have to submit 3-D drawing or images of 3-D items? For example, you did the 3D blazing dragon art with clay. Would they accept it (if) you submit an image of that? I'm planning to make something with clay but kind of puzzled at the moment. Not sure if I'll have the time also but was just thinking about it. Did some research on 3D drawings also. Which software did you use to make the Plant Dragon's head?

From what I can tell, it needs to be a 3D digital model. You can have pictures of your product for sale, but they actually need the model blueprint to work off of.
I use Blender. It is a free animation and modeling software that is great for beginning users. It renders objects quite nicely

Now I get it! It makes sense. They would need the blueprint (drawing).
Thank you so very much! I'll try installing it soon.

The first dragonvale art on superfanart appeared
I think that some of our community members can do much better, if it were not digital.... I tried "123D catch". It's a free app that generates a 3d model from a lot of pictures taken of your 3D model, but the result was demoralizing.

Awesome! Love the Bluefire Dragon. I really wanted to try something but but... Never mind! I'm really happy to see DragonVale 3D art by others.
Hey everyone! I know this isn't a dragon piece, but I'm so excited I had to share! One of my designs was accepted in an online T-shirt contest!! Winning relies on audience voting over the next week. I would love if people are willing to go score my entry - 5 is considered best. I'll understand if you don't want to create an account, which is required to vote/score, but if you are willing I'd be grateful!
Also, to give you a dragon to look at, here's the first in my seasonal dragon series. The dragon in this was inspired by the butterfly dragon. I wasn't fond of the colors BFS used, and I figured there is probably more than one breed of butterfly dragon. The wizards just haven't discovered them all!
I created an account and voted score 5. It is very colorful and well designed. Your design will show well on a T-shirt.
Thanks! Sadly, it didn't score well overall, but happily I found a different site where I can make my art available on Ts, pillows, totes, and a ton of other stuff. I can't wait to get my dragons scans from the printer. I think they'll look awesome as pillows and totes! If anyone is interested, my page on that site is society6.com/Tangitude.
Electronic, maybe you could do the same with some of your art, although it may have to be original stuff vs Dragonvale pieces..

Hello! Just thought of sharing this. Remember there was this site about Hasbro + Shapeshift? There is a new 3D art of Smoke Dragon. He/She also mentioned that there would be more to come including adult version of Smoke Dragon.
I am going to be starting on my own digital model relatively soon or at least within the next few weeks. I am probably going to start with two Plant dragons and work my way from there. I believe crumble608 had asked this question eariler in the Tips n Tricks thread, but I was wondering what kind of dragons would you like to see as one of these 3D printed models?
Looking at the prinitng sizes, the finished figurines come out really small at around 1-2 inches in dimensions, maybe even less.

You can make the figurines up to 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm. That's the limit for coloured plastic. Other materials may have larger caps. But I think the reducing factor is the price. If you intend to sell them, there won't be many buyers if it's too expensive. For coloured plastic the producing price is 3 $ + 2 $ for every cubic cm. And you will be astonished how much cubic cm even a small figurine has. More information can be found here : link

The 3D Smoke Dragon is looking really good! Sometimes we get bored of the existing animations of the dragons ingame, so it's refreshing to see them in 3D form. I'd be worried though. Worried I'd want to buy them all!
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
