This was my idea for the contest entry. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten good reception so far.
A lot of people wanted to ask why it is a fire/water, and here's the two big reasons:
It lives in a desert habitat, typically in really, really hot areas. As a result its sandscales can radiate heat like a fire dragon
We don't have a Fire/Water golden hybrid yet
I really like your Oasis dragon - I love how he has a grainy/sandy look which is perfect for the desert. He also looks very friendly. I think he is too good to be a rare hybrid, I can see him in the Paradise events as a limited rare. 😊

If the competition is associated with an event (like the Beauty and the Beast one was associated with this one), I reckon it'll be a pirates in paradise one. Like pirates searching for treasure on a desert island.

If the competition is associated with an event (like the Beauty and the Beast one was associated with this one), I reckon it'll be a pirates in paradise one. Like pirates searching for treasure on a desert island.
That's part of the reason why I used palm trees on it's back. Even though the dragon won't get along well with the Salamander Dragons

I use art pens to make my drawings pop out more. Too bad the only ones I had in those colors were sparkly pens, which make it harder to see the color (but does give a shiny appearance to the dragon).

I love the Oasis dragon, Demuncher! The use of the missing golden hybrids is on point, and I like his Apatosaurus look! Don’t worry about upvotes (I upvoted your post!). There are so many ways to win the contest that don’t have anything to do with upvotes.

I can see the colour just fine, and I love how the sparkles make it look like sand and glistening water! It really looks like an oasis in the middle of a hot desert.

I do agree, sometimes the upvotes don't have anything to do with it.
For the overall body style, I took some inspiration off of the Oasis Dragon from DragonVale World (pictured below), and from sauropods (like brachiosaurus, diplodocus or apatosaurus). The details I came up myself, as I thought it would fit the dragon best.

Honkwer is some kind of wonderful!
My dream event would be Egyptian themed, and it must have this dragon. Stunning colours and animation, Worms!
Honkwer is so adorable, from its name, to its goosey-chinned beak, to its clawed little feet!

A new dragon has entered the Vale within the dead of night💤
Halvus dragons are quite curious and friendly in nature, however, the conditions in which you meet one are...less than pleasant. It's attracted to dreaming wizards and witches, so a window left open may result in one flying in and sitting right down on their chest, eating up those dreams. The poor wizard or witch may wake up, unable to move or speak and are faced with a horrifying dragon looking back- but it's only the magically scary tail of a Halvus dragon.

Halvus’ home is clearly in the Vale! Halvus, as in halves? Are the upper dots eyes? 👁👁👁👁👁👁👁 They look like the dragon’s eye.
I love the oppositeness of the two. One half, Hal, resembles a cute little buck tooth piggy bank, while the other half, Vus, is a skull-headed demon. Something for everyone to love and fear all at once! 🐷💀

Infrared totally slipped my mind 😆 Halvus is a good mix of the 2 with a touch of dream element
