It means ppl are pledging extra gems. I the case of 2+1, it means 2 to the winner, and 1 for the runner up.

I am seeing people signing up that have not yet paid up for Opal. I'm not writing to deny participation to anyone. But, considering how late we are in October, and that Anuj 9 is still trying for his Opal Dragon, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send Anuj 9 your owing gems for the OPAL competition.
