I sent my gems this morning before looking at this. Will try to rember for tomorrow. Do you accept poutine or just gems?
I accept poutine, please. I'll even give you a gem back!
Oh no! I cannot find any poutine. Instead, please accept this tin of surströmming.
Surströmming (pronounced [sʉ̌ːʂtrœmːɪŋ], Swedish "soured (Baltic) herring") is a northern Swedish dish consisting of fermented Baltic herring. Surströmming is sold in cans, which may bulge after prolonged storage, due to the continued fermentation. When opened, the contents release a strong and sometimes overwhelming odour; the dish is often eaten outdoors. According to a Japanese study, a newly opened can of surströmming has one of the most putrid food smells in the world, even more so than similarly fermented fish dishes such as the Korean Hongeohoe or Japanese Kusaya.[1]
Fletch, just a suggestion (and not because I won). But we should take the comp a little further. After the winner is found, you should add the winning caption to the photo and we should keep it somewhere, maybe in a locked thread. Plus, it's fodder for the Forum Embers eZine.
Sir, the same thought occurred to me. Will make it up all pretty like, when I get a moment.
