I play on a 6th generation iPad in low resolution. The last couple of days, since the DV update, I find my game crashes more often. I can’t get through my park without crashing. Anyone else having more crashing problems?

Yesterday I crashed twice that is the first time since I got the new iPad in May.

I have an ipad air 2 and have been crashing regularly for some time and really can't tell any difference since the new sragonvale update. I can't collect all my dc before I crash. I have put some of my ram draining decorations in storage, but from looking at the list in the encyclopaedia dracontine there is a lot more I can try putting away. Problem here is I like having them in my park.
I need to add that I too have been unable to lure the Woven dragon to my park. I have now stocked up on various types of wine and cheeses and some great little crackers. I also got a new welcome mat for the door - all in hopes of assuring Woven that my park will be a good home.
How long will we be camping, not more than a week or so, right??
As soon as camping ends, Halloween should start. Maybe back to back. 🐨🐨
Is it possible that this is just a new mini event? I can't see it lasting longer than the second week of October. I'm guessing maybe two weeks at most for the duration of the event. And if that's the case, it'll be a good thing because hopefully it'll mean the return of mini events instead of back to back regular events that run together with little to no break in between.
I don’t understand all the talk about this having to be a mini event so that we don’t lose the Halloween event. Why couldn’t this be the Halloween event this year? Isn’t a favorite pastime on many camping trips to sit around the campfire at night and tell spooky ghost stories? It’s not something I enjoy, but lots of others do. BFS has created a lot of spooky dragons. Maybe DECA decided they needed to expand the event so that they had more options for new dragons while still bringing in the old spooky dragons. That is what I am expecting, and personally, I like the idea. I’m not a huge fan of the normal Halloween event and many of its dragons.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

That's quite brilliant. I guess it gives some of us more of a boy-scout vibe? I'd love to see some creativity too, but not at the cost of spooky habitats and island themes.

If this is their Halloween event then I will be very unhappy with their decision to change spooky Halloween into a camping trip. Yes, spooky stories are a part of camping trips sometimes. But there's a difference between camping and actual Halloween with trick-or-treat, dressing up in costume and candy. Or at least that's the way I see it.
The Halloween event and the dragons released during that event are my absolute favorite. That's why I dedicated my entire gargantuan island to nothing but Halloween dragons and decorations. It's the one holiday I actually enjoy and look forward to.
It says in the description that this is to get us ready for fall. So it probably isn't a Halloween event. But still it makes me uneasy. I really don't want to lose the Halloween event or have it changed into something like this. That's just not Halloween to me. 😟

Not to set off a fire storm but the game is now owned by a company in Germany and they have only recognized Halloween in the last 25 years in Germany. Halloween is a big thing here in the USA not in most countries else where. The origins for Halloween come from Ireland. The trick part of Halloween angers many of the Germans so it says. If you look at the holidays in Germany for October they celebrate Oktoberfest. I Googled it to see if they celebrate Halloween.
With that being put out there it will be up to DECA to decide if they hold with Halloween 🎃 event which was put in by the USA Dragonvale game founders or not.
Not saying if it’s right or wrong just food for thought.
Those players who are in Germany what are your thoughts on this?

I live in Germany. Halloween used to be not so important in the past but in the last say 10 years it became more and more celebrated. Not all Germans like the commercialization of this holiday though. Especially some religious ones like to point out that it is not Halloween but Reformation Day. I don't think that Deca will skip it. They bought a game played by lots of American, they know that. I don't believe they want to disappoint their gamers.
And just a note to Oktoberfest. It's an often pulled cliché. Yes we celebrate the Oktoberfest but mostly in the southern part of Germany. This year it is cancelled due to covid.

I must say, when I heard it was a camping event, my first thought was of Camp Crystal Lake and the Friday the 13th movie.

Thank you Crumble much appreciated.🦋 COVID sure has messed a lot of things up world wide.

I've had trick or treater's at my doorstep for some years now, though of course it has nothing on Austria's or Germany's own holiday, Fasching/Karneval.
DECA has to be aware that Halloween is a major holiday since it's a big thing for any game using events.

This is actually turning into a learning experience. Maybe I should do some research about the history of Halloween in Germany, because I find this fascinating and I want to learn more.

Halloween has been imported in Europe and thus in Switzerland where I live. Had big success for some years but now it seems to be less popular. Your can see it in department stores, they used to have a large choice of costumes and related stuff but since a few years the choice is shrinking and you have to search to find the halloween stuff. And the day of the deaths and All Saints are competing with Halloween. Kids didn’t come to my place since years and I think I still have a bag of old candy somewhere!

That’s my job to get you interested and get people talking. 🤣 Old habits are hard to break.🤣 As a paraprofessional ( before retirement) I use to help the teachers get the students interested in finding things out.

What I find much more interesting is the history of Halloween in Ireland (the source of all Halloween) But there are some parts of it that are not so kind

I just noticed the green tent, on the left, has a moon and star on top. Also there’s a telescope next to the tent.
What do you all think, this camping trip will be more about star gazing and Galaxy Dragons than about hiking and s’mores?
Might I ask a silly question? I know this is supposed to be a mini event, and the notes on the update say there is a new pretty event island and play Eggy Hatchy, but I don't see either of those. I have updated to iOS 14 and I have the latest version of DV 4.20.1 on both my iPad and iPhone. The only thing that I see for the event on both devices is the camp splash screen...
Am I missing something, is there a glitch with the app, or have I just completely lost my mind??
