I'm officially without Moonstruck. I had managed to avoid all the long fails, but didn't say anything - didn't want to jinx myself. Last night did an isle breed before bed - 48 hr fail. This morning did a cave breed - another 48 hours. Not enough gems to speed those babies up, especially with an already full hatchery of 7 - 9 hour fails. I guess it's back to saving gems - spent a bit over 100 on speed-ups.
So sorry you had back-to-back long fails at the worst time. Perhaps that means you will have really koala with the next dragon release.

That is quite awesome, but would be so much more awesome if one of them had been a Moonstruck.
The Moonstruck is still available, which probably means that BFS is stretching its availability out. It's safe to say that BFS is testing out a reasonable time period for a holiday dragon which requires limited dragons for parents. As we've seen, 4 days is certainly not enough, especially factoring in the possibility of DR fails.

Well out of gems and so far I've gotten two double rainbows, one rainbow and a seasonal, finally got a moonstruck but now hatchery is full, guess I just have to wait it out to try for one more for my egg display. Then I'm back trying for gold snowy Olympic dragon - no luck there.
You really got hit hard with the bad luck stick! Congrats for having a Moonstruck in that mess.

That is a pretty close representation of my hatchery. Still trying for my second, keep catching of moonstruck has left the market.
My Strategy: Thought I'd get opinions on my general long term strategy:
With the new breeding rules there's no benefit to keeping 2 of every dragon. so I'm trying to get 1 of every dragon, plus extra dragons for earning cash. Im currently level 36, and have most of the standard hybrids except the dark and light hybrids. I don't yet have many of the opposite dragons.
Looking at the earning rates and habitat fill-times combined with the fact that I have a life I'm ignoring the idea of breeding armies of Panlongs or similar as you need to cash-in very frequently to benefit, and they are now impossible to breed large numbers of with any confidence.
In the early part of the game I bred lots of plant and cactus dragons to get a quick return, they are now ear-marked for sale as they are replaced with epics.
For now I'll take any epic I can get my hands on but am 1st aiming to finish the goal of 1 of hybrid dragon at Lv 15 or higher and one of every epic.In total I have about 23 hybrid dragons which I don't yet have (excluding limiteds), and 7 Epics. I do have 3 Solar eclipse and 2 silvers. The SE is a great earner and in general my sun & moon habitats are great earners. I'm netting about 19M per day at the moment, but I know that that will change dramatically as I breed more epics.
On a significant note: when breeding for DC and / or XP there is a very clear winner: Plant hybrids with Light for best cash and with dark for best XP (2nd best for cash). this is based on the average earnings per hour assuming a 50/50% chance of either of the possible outcomes from a plant-dark or plant light breed pair. if you're about to be off-line for more than 9 hours the dark pair is guaranteed to give a 13 or 13.5 hour breed time (10.4 - 10.8 hour enhanced) while the light can give a 13 or a 9 hour (10.4 or 7.2 enhanced). Breeding back to back you can therefore earn an average of 237k or 240k DC per hour and 49k - 35k XP per hour (Dark & light hybrids respectively).
It will be a while before I'm breeding for cash though. Once I have 1 of every dragon, when not breeding for limiteds I'll be trying to breed for the best epics: As of Feb. 2014 that's the Eclipse / Blue Moon / Solstice dragons in a Large Sun or Large Moon habitat (as discussed above the D.R. dragons are so much harder to get they aren't as good to strive for).
Aiming for 1 of each epic will of course result in some habitats needing filled up - I have 4 rainbow habitats with Rainbows / Leaps - they are not worth replacing - just keep.so: Apocalypse x2 Snowy Gold x 3 Seasonal x2 Platinum x2

Still no Moonstruck and Backflip has cheated me out of 4.99 then 9.99. My game crashed after ordering and the mdse never showed up! It takes so long for Backflip to get back to you, I have no chance to get the gems in time to possibly help for Moonstruck. With all the recent problems, this game is getting more frustrating than fun. Anyone got some cheese.

Sounds like a good plan If the "best epics" for you are those that earn most, you should try and check my earning rates sheet ( it's in my signature, see below ⬇️) Which is the best earner depends on how often you sweep your park. If you check and sweep every hour, then the 4 times boosted Cotton is best. But if you check only every 4 hours or less then it's the DR. I have made columns for a lot of sweep times and for dragons at level 10, 15 or 20. you can download the sheet and sort it as you like. but if you plan to built an army of that "super epic" be warned : There have been several "best earners" in the past that now are only good average. BFS changed the max dragons cap for some habitats or a new better earner got in the market, and, puff, your super epic army isn't so super anymore. I never bred for earning reasons (only to sell the dragon for cash when nothing else is to be done) , I want diversity. But I keep every long bred epic ( just in case )

I consider this a flawed premise right out the gate for two reasons.
First off, while Like + Like is no longer a guaranteed clone, the percentage chance of producing a clone is greater.
Secondly, you have two breeding locations and locked combos are fairly common. If I did not have 2 Love and 2 Rose, I would not have been able to breed for Moonstruck in both locations. If I did not have 2 Sonic and 2 Hail I would not be able to breed for Amethyst in both locations. If I did not have 2 Ash and 2 Frostfire, I would not be able to breed for Jet in both locations... and so on.

Panlong armies aren't really a valid strategy in a post DV 2.0 world anyhow. They nerfed thier earning rates too much. I belive double boosted Paper or Quad boosted Cotton are still theoretically viable, but haven't actually bothered to run the numbers recently.
Regardless, you still have to check hourly for it to be worth it

DR, but they are hard to come by. Two of them in a Large Rainbow Habitat wil produce 998 DC/min at lvl 10.
Solstice, Blue Moon and the two Eclipses, in that order. All have the same earing rates, but Solstice and Blue Moon are prefered becuase of their shorter breeding times. Any three of them in a Large Sun/Moon habitat will produce 921 DC/min at lvl 10.

Have you contacted them? BFS has normally gotten back to me rather quickly on any issues related to money.
In game notificatins notwithstanding, all the Valentine's dragons are still in the market. Including Moonstruck.
I agree with BS dragoncrone, BFS does respond faster than any other game I play. And I think they would be more responsive to the money situation. Also if you've received your itune receipt you can contest the purchase with iTunes. I have also done that in the past. koala to you.
No more love and moonstruck in the market, jet is still there though... no more hearts and flowers decos on the caves either. But I've been eagerly awaiting the new quarterly gemstone, hope its coming soon!
