I have enough gems saved up that if I do not get the apocalypse dragon by the beginning of next year I will be giving in and actually purchasing it. I am a bit worried with trying to get this, plus whatever limited(s) they bring back before the year is out. I really really want a leap year.
I wouldn't worry too much. If LYD makes a come back, and the breeding rules are the same, breeding for Apoc will also give you a chance at LYD. I believe LYD's combo was the same as Rainbow—any four element combination. ;D

I bought one and bred one. I know I am terrible but they are by far the cheapest Epic dragons. I had a 39 hour going breeding Magnetic and Lichen as well.

I don't think there's any problem with buying one. Afterall, you had the gems. A lot of people use their gems to speed up fails. You could have chosen to speed up the dragons, but since that can easily surpass the price of the dragon, why not?
I have so many gems piled up...I bought an Apocalypse. I hope that doesn't take away my street cred.
I don't see much difference between blowing 130 gems to speed fails versus just buying the blasted dragon. So you are still cool
Absolutely! Buy gems to "buy" the egg, or buy the egg? I did it, too. Twice. They're breeding the display egg as I type. I'm not letting myself feel guilty.
I didn't buy the gems, though. I already had them saved, the result of a new austerity plan I instituted. I stopped spending gems for speeding up breeding and hatching.
I feel so virtuous. ;-)

My dragons love sharing the party wealth with new friends, but all the gems are spoken for. New friends are welcome, but no gems are left to shar

Plus you also bred one

I agree completely.
No criticism or argument intended. I was typing my post as you were posting yours.
I had to restrain myself from impulsively buying gems when faced with a breeding challenge. I used to do it a lot...waaaaay too much, if you ask my husband, who just has no sense of humor. It's a personal decision to stop the only in-game purchases I had been making. At least for a while.

They never tire of making liars of us. Not crazy about the short time to breed with so many very long fails. Makes those 2 48hr fails I got this morning all the more painful.
I knew Apoc was a temporary dragon, because you said he was permanent
Lol, I actually thought this when I wrote that it would probably be permanent. I just knew they wouldn't let me be right....even once. ***sigh***

Haha, I tend to post at the same time as other people, it happens a lot!
I understand the impulse to buy gems. Back in October I spent quite a pretty sum on the gems. It took all my will power not to buy yet another pack so that I could have "a few more tries." Gem buying is so dangerous! If I buy more I will have to use extreme caution.
OMG! Everyone's back! Let the breeding frenzy begin, especially those of us who came late to the game and missed so many limited dragons. Thank you BFS!
So the limited are back! Do we know how long for and how can I breed a bloom & a leap year please? The others are cheap enough to buy as a Christmas treat. Thanks!

LYD should be any combo of 4 elements. As I recall, Bloom was Storm + Any Plant element.
This is assuming the breeding rules haven't changed.
I'm thrilled to see all the past dragons back in the market for those who either joined too late or missed out on them.
But the thing that thrills me MOST of all is the new upgraded rainbow habitat - with a real PROPER rainbow. I'm going to have to do some serious thinking about selling off my egg grid to make way for the larger habitats, but I won't be too hasty about it in case Backflip is kind enough to give us a new island (or two!?)
I'm crossing my fingers for another island or two as well. My current ones are just a mess while I try and fit everything in!
