I think it's a horrible idea to put an unobtainable object into a game that essentially focuses on the collection and display of said objects.
I would very likely quite the game entirely if they made platform specific dragons.
That said, I don't mind the idea of one platform or the other getting something before it becomes available to everyone else.
I can be patient.
I cannot be happy about being denied of something completely.
So what do you think of limited dragons, that might not come back, or not for a long time. LYD or Paper Dragon for example, if we didn't have a Bring Em Back event?

Personally, I suspect Paper will return during the anniversary. Quite possibly along with a new Cotton Dragon. After all, many of the Holidays have multiple dragons now (Reindeer/Gift, Bone/Ghost, Love/Rose), so it's not as if they are unwilling to bring back limited dragons from previous years, even when releasing a new one.
Leap Year, Panlong (and it's limited decorations), Apocalypse and Century are the only dragons that have expired that have no likely immediate return date.
However, I can't imagine them not doing a Bring 'Em Back event again at some point. It seemed like it was a successful money making strategy for BFS and would be a great boon, especially for new players.
So I'm not particularly worried.
Heck, I might not be lucky enough to get Leap Year during the Bring Em Back event, but I would simply shrug and try harder next year. As I said, I can be very patient.
But I would be sad and more than a little annoyed if I was never given any opportunity to even try for them.
After all, I'm told "It is possible to breed every dragon with the right combination and enough patience.[/u]"
I don't mind there being limited dragons that don't come around again, and based on when I started playing I believe there are 3 for me: Apocalypse, Panlong, and Leap Year. I'm hoping for a Bring Em Back event to happen again this year, because those are the three I'd like to try and obtain during it. But if they don't have one, or if they choose to exclude some dragons from it, I'd get over it. Limited dragons are different from platform exclusives. I wasn't playing Dragonvale and giving them money at the time those dragons were around. I am now, and feel (perhaps wrongly) that I am entitled to a shot at breeding any dragon that is released at this point since that's how I've understood this game operates.
So, to sum that up: I donated to the party fund, so when we're partying, don't let the guy next to me eat cake in front of me if I can't have cake too. But if you had cake before I got here and there's none left, that's cool because now you have pretzels and cupcakes. Does that analogy make sense? Did I just imply I eat my dragons? I swear I don't. Honest. >.>
Dragons to breed: Clover, Sakura, Diamond, Peridot, SOly, GOly, Bronze and Silver SnOlys, DR, Malachite, and four light and dark hybrids.
Bad, bAd, baD, BAD! What next BFS? Will some of us be told to go to the back of the bus? Will we have separate drinking fountains? Be denied a seat at the lunch counter?

Umm ... wowsers. You're not actually comparing video game marketing to civil rights, are you?

Count me as one who would be VERY disappointed in BFS if they make some items available to players using one platform but not to all. It probably wouldn't affect my playing but that's certainly not the way to build goodwill. I'm still holding out hope we iPhone/iPad players will be able to have a swimming hole. It sounds like fun & what's the point of not making it available to everyone. It's not like we are going run out and buy a device using the other platform so that we can have everything, are we? Are we? What's the cheapest Android I can get???
Am not terribly upset over a deco. A very special dragon would bother me more. If the swimmin' hole were something that was a completely new addition, such as the ability to attach it to any habitat to increase slots - then that would really make me quite upset.

I don't mind limited dragons either. I just started playing a couple of months ago and like having something to look forward to (when they come back.) I don't like the idea of having dragons or decorations available to only one platform.......that is why I switched to DragonVale from Dragon Story. I play on Kindle and there was really no reason for me to keep playing since there were so many dragons I couldn't ever get!
I accept that for BFS DV is a business and they want to make money, I get it. Perhaps if they wanted to entice "newer" players with "newer" devices they could make it more like they get a sneak peak at cool things first. I wouldn't mind that so much, as long as I was able to have my shot at an item eventually, specially if it was a Dragon, don't care too much for decorations, my park is full anyway.
Instead of Exclusivity, Maybe they could have a few, unusual or unique decor sell for gems? Free Gems are fairly easy to save in this game once you line up Gem Neighbors and play the colliseum(sp?) everyday. It would be something to save for after you get the basic upgrades (epic island, cave & hyber tower etc.). People might buy more gems or just look forward to saving Gems for something special. It took me awhile to save for my Breeding Island & upgrade the cave, but it was a fun part of the game because they were obtainable. I did eventually buy a small pack of Gems in the beginning AFTER I saved & scrimped for my Breeding island, just because I wanted to express my support to BackFlip. I figure they have to make money somehow, I also appreciate having no Ads inside the game.
