With the new month, comes a new installment of POTM. It works like this:
You find a post you like and you nominate it for Post of the Month. You do this by quoting the post and adding the comment "Post of the Month" or if you think you can't pull it off, simply "POTM". A Mod will move your POTM Reply to this thread. Conversely you can right click on the "Link to Post" at the bottom of each post
and Copy Link Location. Then post in this thread with "Post of the Month" (or "POTM" if you think you can), right click in the thread and Paste. You cannot nominate your own post ... I mean c'mon ... that's just really lame ... no matter how cool/funny/clever/poignant you think you were. Each post can only be nominated once. The first person to do so gets the nod. On June 1st (or thereabouts, I mean, we're all working folks here, well most of us) we'll make a Poll with all the nominated threads and everyone here will be invited to vote for their favourite thread. You'll have about a week to vote. So about the 7th of June we'll have a winner, or more accurately, two, because the original poster AND the person who nominated them wins. What do you win? Gems of course. And now Crystals. The mods will give a gem and a crystal (if they're playing Gizmonauts) to both of the people that win the poll.
So, to sum up. - Make good posts. - Nominate good posts. - Vote for posts. - Profit.
I've never had luck with these girly flowery dragons. Too many of them anyway in my opinion. This game needs to get more gritty. These are supposed to be DRAGONS! Fire breathing, sharp teeth, claws, spikes, etc. C'mon!! Flowers, and hearts, and Rainbows. If a Unicorn or teddy bear Dragon come out next I swear I am done.
ROFL....POTM! , I agree I would like to see some a little more dragonish.
Hello everyone! I am new to this forum, and I absolutely love this thread! It's interesting to see that nearly everybody have practised the symmetrical design in their parks; too bad BFS does not allow horizontal rotation of the buildings, only a few of the decors are totally symmetrical which provide limited choices. Though, with recent updates, some of the wildest ideas have become manageble. Here I present my park designs (which I have spent way too much time on) and hope everyone enjoy!
First, the panorama:
The main island:
The main island holds the biggest variety of trees, dragons and habitats; as a result, it is the most colorful of all, with red and blue and yellow and green in deep contrast. The Opposite elements are located away from each other as far as they can, all of them holding a pair of opposite dragon with its pure-elemental correspondent. This is also the place where I dispose of my worst favorite color: pink. Personally I name this island "gene pool" because of the abundance of species.
I have left treat farms in its lower forms because of the artistc value. Farms will always be accompanied by wells; if not how do they get irregated? Also, visitors can rest their tired feed in Dragon-INN at the eastern corner and enjoy the fantastic view of cold dragons flying in high sky from their room windows. The elusive Seasonal dragon is not within direct reach: it's possible to get a glimpse of its magnificent form at the end of the northwest trekking lane.
Some rantings: Most of the in-game visitors are attracted by roads, and this island suffer because I just cannot fill more roads into it.
Treasure island:
The second island is completely devoted to metals, gemstones and dirts. There is a lightening habitat------possibly the result of the magnetic force field generated by too many conductors------at the western end, which shelters a poor plant dragon who unfortunately gets electrified and can never recover from the shock. Mountains and metal plateaus dot this land with paths meagering between them. All of the houses and statues are luxiously colored, paying tributes to the throne of king and queen, which is surrounded by golden and red trees.
I know this island seems to be in no particular order. My original idea is it is to resemble the Big Dipper, a 7-star constellation, though the meaning of it becomes lost in execution. The stars are roughly represented by the rocks; the roads and trees are then made parallel with the formed line.
In real life the Big Dipper is pointing at the Polaris, a solar star. So I've tried my best to direct everything on Trasure island to the island below it: the island of sun.
The Molten Necklace:
I'm quite proud of this island for its symmetry. Aside from those damned trees, all other decors fit in the pattern. The rocks are all lopsided in one way or another so I put the anomalies together to form a vague balance; anyway, that sun habitat is not exactly symmetrical, so why not follow its heed?
I don't like flags so the usage of them is scarce. Here, flags, flower beds and egg statues help provide the feeling of symmetry. There are also recurring shapes of arrowheads scattering everywhere, see how many you can find?
After an island fully devoted to fire and heat, here comes another one that is for coolness.
The Thousand Lakes
The face of moon is marked by numerous craters and so is this island: ponds, springs, land subsidences, lakes, and frozen lakes. Interestingly, some of the tallest buildings are located here as well. The purpose of this island is to create a trunquil feeling; guests can go to the romantic cottages with green roofs and fabulous food, and look into the deepness of forests behind them. A mysterious rainbow colors the treetop, making people wonder where is the end of it.
On the eastern end, air habitats level up to the moon. Clouds and rains surround it; gradually the water in the atmosphere progresses into the western part and become snow and ice. There is a creepy castle hiding in the mountain lines, visitors better keep away from it.
The Maze
My take on egg display. Olympics and athelets competitions are all common factors in Greek culture so I borrowed inpiration from the labyrinth of Crete. Visitors have to walk through a swirl of paths and egg pedestals to reach the colosseum; sometimes their trekking will be lightened up by some unexpectant decorations.
The left and right parts of this island resemble each other chaotically. I use the red roofs of treat farms to imitate the three red towels of dragon track.
The Rainbows: Centrifugal
The Rainbows: Centripetal
At last, the rainbow islands!
I have reached my extremity in designing these two. The four red trees signify the differences between them: one is focusing onto the center, another is wandering away from it. The bad thing is, big trees are not exactly symmetrical as happy trees are. Fortunately the storage tower is tall and slender enough to deviate the view from that slanting tree trunks and balance the whole island again. Both of the islands are strictly ceremonial, there is nothing for the visitors to spend nights.
Special thanks to anyone who have tolerated this monologue until the last. My game ID is Eppun, you guys are welcome to my park and see for yourself, because the islands look much better in motion!
Congrats! Alright now I have to ask what LC is? I'm having fun with guessing what it stands for, but I'm not reaching enlightenment. (Lays Chips, Lame Christmas, Lefty Camel, Lighted Candles, Loose Caboose, Lusty Custard...)
Its not a what its a who
Lusty Custard. Soooo impressed you guessed it just from his initials
Ok Some people call him Liquid C0urage but Lusty custard is pretty inspired!
Also I'm flinging a koala at you. Wait, do koalas land on their feet like cats? Oh. It was a gentle fling. Kind of. You, ah... you mind catching that one? I'll just dismantle this catapult.
Hmmm... tending to multiple lacerations received from catching an extremely agitated flying Koala...
Note to Artkat for future referance. Attach thick mittens and socks to said Koala before catapulting at friendly targets. Thanks for the Koala though
As for your future seeing abilities... oh I soo believe, I do, I do! Please let it be true. Also feel free to through any unwanted Sun/Moons my way, I promise to give them a wonderful, luxurious, loving home
Heh, yeeeeah, sorry about that. Next time I'll airmail it or something. Really should have thought that through. It's just that I don't often get to use the catapult.
I'll definitely keep you in mind, but it may take a little bit. Teaching a salamander dragon to be sneaky and swift is difficult. They tend to knock all kinds of things over with those tails for a while in basic training.
So are most people getting their Bouquets from a Flower and Water breeding combination? I've also read that Flower and Salamander is a good combo, some sites list it as a higher chance... I'm curious to know what is working for all you lucky people
POTM I was waiting for someone to make this comment. I thought debstoy was going to say that her husband had the best spouse in the world, but she didn't. I was disappointed. Thanks for making things right, myke. You're wrong, but at least I'm no longer disappointedly waiting for this remark.
I'm interested, and I'm very good at tormenting, I mean paying people. Just ask my family.
DEAL!
It might take a couple days... my dragons are undercover and deeply embedded in "myke territory" to spread the teachings of drooling and that the breeding island is a taco truck and the breeding cave is a mall.
As soon as I can safely extract them, I will send them, complete with tacos, to your habitat to work their magic.
I'm in the same boat Ninja. I needed two plasmae, and a second salamander.
Though implasmible, I got my first plasma pretty quickly. I committed a bit of a salablunder though, and put salamander and lightning together, thinking I'd get one or t'other and be happy. I got the second salamander, but have been immobilized by the eggies-in-waiting.
Needless to say, my first jade fail was a salameander. Poor planning.
Took a very long time to finish, but here is the final product of my OOAK Blazing dragon ceramic figurine. The original plan for this figurine was for it to become a finch (hence the forked tail), but after a few blotches and mis-proportions, out came this dragon (Sorry for the bright lens flare)
Blazing Figurine Sculpture
Wow! POTM for turning mistakes into an amazing dragon sculpture.
The problem is very simple, really........you cannot use boatloads of anything on outposts as there is no water. Try rocketloads instead. You are welcome.
POTM. You are hilarious Pixie!
