I'm going to be pretty disappointed if it isn't possible to get the max rewards without IAPs.
I'm tempted to buy the initial upgrade however as it is an amazing deal. The ~3,350 magic it gives you is at least 2-3 days of maximal effort.
I'm going to hold off for now though - I want to see if it is possible. Once we have a clearer indication of when this event is likely to end (and which is likely to come first), I'll decide then.

It costs 1.99 for 50 gems. Buying both upgrades seems like a no brainer to me.

I'm sending about 2/3 into the dark and 1/3 into the light ATM, once I get to the 5600 mark on the dark will probably throw more into the light

Looks like light is well in the lead as the second dark marker hasn't appeared as quickly as the first.
As soon as I get to the next stage, it'll be dark in both parks. We need to even things up or the event will finish quickly...

I personally would like Dark to win but doesn't look like that's going to happen.  If anything a close release between the two would be great. |

I've decided I'm okay NOT having max rewards from dark. I am giving to light only because 1) its not much of a vote if everyone is just giving 50-50 to everything and 2) I don't collect as much magic as some folks (~1000 a day is my speed) and this gives me a good chance at getting a good reward in one instead of middling in both. |

Just got my second dark egg in my main park. Now throwing magic at the light for the matching egg. Still some way off in my little park, nearly 5000/7200.
I've been saying from the start that we need to be even handed, so more needs to be thrown to dark to catch up.

Just got the giant light habitat. Now working on getting the 2nd dark egg. I have 1072/7200. (The light is 0/14000) I am okay not getting the third egg from either of them. If it happens, it happens but I am not counting on it. I would like to have both giant habitats, though. I think most people are either concentrating on light or spreading the magic between the two. Que sera, sera.

Que sera, sera. I think most people were concentrating on Light, but have looked at the numbers required, and have switched back to dark realising it will be easier to get those rewards. |
