I have no problem with all the new dragons being released in such a short time. I didn't have any dragons left to breed for except the 'quarterly' dragons. (Seasonal and gem.) I am enjoying having to keep track of the ones I still need to get and feeding them up to match their brothers.
I'm saving up gems to pay for my final habitat upgrade. I have a few dragons I don't like the looks of (adult Cave, anyone?) so I don't try to display all the possible dragons.

I think if I were relatively new to the game, I might feel overwhelmed with an influx this big, but two years in? Nope. I think the best way to describe it is that I don't particularly mind one way or another how many permanent hybrids are released in a short period. The only time I worry about breeding a new release is if it's limited. Permanent additions can be added at any time.
What does annoy me a bit is that I already need another island and a few more habitats to accommodate the newcomers, and I can't see that happening soon since we just had additions in both those areas. I could always sacrifice somewhere to make room, but I'm not willing to do that. My problem, not BFS'.
GCID: joliesdragons (please, no new gem/treat gifts, and repeated GC challenges will lead to unfriending)
As earlier said, they're here to stay so there's no rush into getting them. I'm more worried about the need for bigger habitats to have one of each in display
This is another good point. Having 38 dragons in a couple of months requires 8 new habitats to display them all. How many extras did we get with the last update?
Since the Rift event released first light dragons the total is at 20 (22 when you add in Topaz & Jet but they're in the Gemstone Island)
Fletch is talking about the total sum of the new dragons from the Magic event, which will include the remaining 6 Light hybrids, 10 Dark hybrids, and the 2 Light/Dark opposites.
GCID: rionhow Thanks to ElektronX for my Light Rift avatar!
I have liked having the new dragons to breed. It has kept the game very interesting after the magic event, which I would assume has gotten people to play the game more. So it keeps the momentum going.
Also with the lack of failures it is easy to get the new dragons. This makes it fine to release a bunch at once. If the new dragons had more failures it would be better to not release so many at once. But they current pace is fine.
The only possible downside is if they have a slow period because they released too much too soon. But I would imagine they already have that planned out. There are still plenty of possible regular dragons to still release.
Also, releasing a bunch in November will let them take a break from Light and Dark dragons during December for the Bring 'Em Back event. And I can't wait for that, since I have been playing less than a year and need to get some missing dragons!!

I voted no but can't really defend my vote. I love having so many new dragons but I wish the number of habitats (for players who aren't maxed out) had increased a bit more. When you're still in shrine grind mode it's hard to let go of dragons to make room. It actually seems like the game has slowed down for me. (Maybe it just seems that way after the flurry of magic collecting.) Of course, I could spend money on gems for new or upgraded habitats which is probably what Hasbro wants and that's fine. I'll just be more patient.
The huge influx of new dragons actually calmed my gameplay down. I used to keep three parks going. With the Rift event and the new dragons, I threw in the towel on two of the three and have rediscovered life outside the Vale. I found that I like the game better now that I have done so. Also, tons of unlimited dragons isn't a worry. Tons of limited dragons all at once would have been teeth-grindingly stressful.
Wrangling 3 parks sounds more like work, than fun. Glad you have rediscovered the bliss that is DV.
