Yes...until you have to mow it! Two and a half hours on a riding lawn tractor. And guess who's the dummy that planted the seed?
My parents live on 3 acres and it used to take my mum nearly 6 hours to mow with a ride on!! They've since upgraded the old mower and my dad can now do it it 2hrs

Proper scale though. I'm originally from the Right Coast (Vermont) and in all the years that I've been on the Left Coast, I've never gotten used to the lack of proper scale. Here you will commonly find huge houses on tiny lots. Which looks like a very large woman in tights teetering on tall high heels.
Poppy
That is one of my pet peeves. There really should be larger set-backs and the new building should have to blend into its' surroundings. Didn't realize that was a west coast thing.

Holla everyone!! Vicki put me in the loop! So nice to "see" everyone!
So here's some info about me:
I'm 33 and live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest about 20 mins north of Seattle. Never married, no kids, but one "fur-baby" aka- Simon, my cat. I bought my condo just before the housing maket skyrocketed and then crashed, so I'm sitting good. I've been workin for Safeway for 16 1/2 years and have been a Dairy department manager for the last 9 years or so. I was at one store since I started until about 18 months ago where I helped open a new store in north Seattle. It was just the change I needed!
I'm also an Independant Consultant for Close To My Heart, a scrapbooking and stamping supply company. I've been doing that for about 4 years now. Love their products! I teach card making classes twice a month with a lively group of ladies. I make tons of handmade items, mostly cards. I even sell them in a shop in the Fremont area of Seattle and online through a site called Zahoomi which is similar to Etsy. If you'd like the links to my websites to see my creations, let me know.
I'm also a member of 3 Masonic Orders: Eastern Star, Ladies Oriental Shrine, and Job's Daughters. The Job's Daughters is the Masonic girls youth group where I'm the adult leader of the group and help all the young members learn and grow in confidence, public speaking, project planning, and fun activities. I love it, but it takes up a lot of my free time.
In my "free" time, if I ever have some, I like to hang out with my close friends (who all have husbands and kids). I'm a big foodie too. Comes from one of my best friends, who used to live with me, who is a Sous Chef for Taste restaurant in Seattle. It's definately a nice bonus having a chef as a best friend! I love watching my favorite shows too: Hawaii 5-0, CSI Vegas, Survivor, New Girl, Tru Blood, and Game of Thrones.
Ok, I'm done blabbing about myself. Now I'm going to go through the forum and learn about all you fabulous people!

Sewing gave me my only claim to fame, so to speak. Daughter number 2 was always very active in dance, which led to me making her dancewear, which led to making costumes, which led to me starting my own costume/dancewear business. The fame part comes from making uniforms for both the Seahawk and Sonics dance teams. Most of the dads in the neighborhood volunteered for duty when it was measuring day for the girls, lol. For some reason they all thought their assistance was needed.
Go Seahawks!!! How cool is that?! Such a great life story Shirley!

OMG, you are my neighbor! So glad you have found us! You are someone after my own heart, love to make things with my own hands, too. Never did get into scrapbooking much, but really should to get all those photos organized somehow. Am in the process of transferring tons of old VHS videos to digital before they crumble and are lost.
Sounds like you keep yourself very busy. Hope you enjoy your stay here, very nice people visit here daily.
oh poppy what little treasures ,I bet it gets quite rowdy when they are all there lol my mother in law has seven grandchildren from her sons and daughter two being mine lol and her house is fun on Sunday when everyone is there !!! loud ,but fun x vicky x
Thought I'd add some photos of my beautiful slice of Croatia. Our village is called Betina and it's on the island of Murter (which loosely translates to the island of death in Latin! Something to do with it's pirate and smuggler past!!
And this is the view from our terrace
We are extremely close to the mainland on one side and on the other we have the National Park Kornati which is an archipelago of 1000s of little islands. The legend is that God gave all the people's of the earth land to flourish on but when he had finished the Croats had been forgotten so he gave them the land he had been saving for himself! If you ever sailed those waters you'd believe it!!!!
Hello, reading through all your posts made me think about my life. You have all lived interesting, wonderful, and fulfilling lives. Sorry some of you haven't had the smoothest and happiest moments throughout life.
For me, I am 24 at the moment and live on the east coast of the United States. Not much is really happening lately. I have two degrees which are elementary ed/specialization in middle school language arts (double certification areas) , and communications arts. Currently I substitute when they call me and work retail, but unfortunately both of those haven't been great lately; slow season with subbing and corporate cut the hours at the store so my hours per week are cut a little more than half. That is okay in the long run since my heart isn't in retail.
Ideally I want to be a teacher and most of the kids (who aren't trying to take advantage of a substitute) respond well to me as I care about them learning and understanding the topics. Unfortunately though with the job market I haven't been able to find a job in the two years since I graduated. I've had some interviews but it comes down to me not having enough experience yet and them hiring someone older or someone who has children.
That is a bit discouraging, but I'll keep trying even if sometimes it seems like I should have studied something else. When I started the program teachers were needed and it was something I wanted to do for years prior to entering the program.
Besides that most people seem to get along with me, and unless I am crossed the wrong way I am happy to interact with anyone who want to converse with me. For me honesty, respect and kindness go a long way which has caused some unsettling social interactions in the past of people taking advantage of my kindness both in high school, college, and even from one or two co-workers.
Still single, as I never really had much of anything happen in that part of my life. I was really shy when I was younger and when I reached out to people who seemed nice I ended up getting told that they were just messing with me for half a year. Let's just say that had led to trust issues.
In the future I do hope to have a job since I would really like to be able to financially help myself and help others. I have always enjoyed helping others which is why I work with a community camp in the summers, and want to be a teacher. It is also why I accepted the position of admin on the DragonVale Wiki; it made it easier to create a cleaner theme and layout while providing information to people seeking it.
Not being able to financially support myself and still leeching off my parents has been tough on me the past two years as I expected more to happen by now, but I'll keep trying and eventually my time will come; even if I have to change career paths.
Other than that I would like to write a story/book someday for people to enjoy, and I am looking forward to contributing to this forum as I have already seen a lot of great threads.
Hope my life is as wonderful and fulfilling as yours. I know I am still young so there is time for things to turn around even if it is discouraging at times.
Oh, and I am passionate about things I really care about and have a bit of an addictive personality when it comes to things I like. Probably explains some things.
hi and welcome ,wow dv wiki admin that's fab kudos to you and koala for all future jobs you apply for you will make a wonderful teacher by the sounds of it xvicky x
Oh, I see the DW. Pretty cool parents who wanted the logo on a nappy. Young parents now are so creative expressing their individuality.
Cool indeed. She's very excited. She says the hardest thing is going to be NOT using the voice and saying "Urinate! Urinate!" every time she puts it on her bub.
