I am trying to remind myself that it has not even been three full days since Leathery was announced. I have gotten a scorch, storm, arctic, hail, crystal, glacier, and now another glacier/lava. I don't have any of the anniversary dragons, so I've been trying for Paper on the island (with similar, unsuccessful results so far). This is my first Last Call competition and I have to admit I'm very conflicted. I'm competitive and want to win (but then I remind myself what "winning" means), and I really want the anniversary dragons. And each new fail is that much more depressing knowing there is a whole group of people who have been successful (some multiple times!). On the plus side, the extra gems are nice. Sorry for complaining. Hopefully I'll be in the "loser" category soon!
Hey rachels, you can actually try for all three anniversary dragons at one go! If you have a Carnival or a Sakura, you can pair it with a Storm or a Hail to try for Paper, Cotton, and Leathery! Since each dragon has 4 elements, you already run the risk of getting Rainbow or Double Rainbow trying for them separately, so there's no harm trying for them together!
If you don't have a Carnival or a Sakura, but manage to breed any of the anniversary dragons, you can also pair it with another dragon to try for the other anniversary dragons. Between the three of the anniversary dragons, there are only 5 elements: Plant, Fire, Earth, Cold, and Lightning. So:
- If you have Paper (Plant, Fire, Earth, Cold), you'll need to add Lightning to try for Cotton and Leathery. - If you have Cotton (Plant, Fire, Earth, Lightning), add Cold. - If you have Leathery (Fire, Earth, Cold, Lightning), add Plant.
I had a similar conflict when it came to joining the Last Call. But then I realised that winning the Last Call is actually really getting a consolation prize; it's a kind of insurance in case you don't manage to breed the dragon in time. You're going to try for the dragon anyway, so why not get some insurance (and some fun) out of it?
That's a good way of looking at it - insurance or a consolation prize. I am enjoying the community aspect, too.
Unfortunately, I don't have a Carnival or Sakura. I thought I might have had a Paper this morning, so used Kairos to speed things along but it was a Moss. So I am now trying for Leathery in both breeding spots and currently have another Arctic and Crystal on the way.

Wow, this competition is going by really fast!
I have sent out all of the FRs to those who are not on my friends list. I have set up my own alphabetical GCID pay list so that I can search for the names easily. All I need now is to get my Social Menu in my game to work without crashing.

I thought this one would be tougher and the DR more frequent... maybe I should've said anyone who gets a Sun/Moon/Rainbow as a fail for a first Leathery.
Note: have to travel out-of-state for a family funeral, but will try to continue paying each day. A couple of the ones I owe haven't accepted friend request but I will try to get that straightened out when I get back home.

I got 1 moon and 1 sun in the hunt for Leathery as well.
The Leathery does seem easier than Cotton and paper though!

Does that mean that you owe extra gems to the five remaining contestants? Why, I believe it might. I hope this makes up for me having caused feelings of jealousy to rise within them.
