Not getting the gift dragons either. any ideas whats going on? do we have to get so far in the event before they happen? is it only on certain platforms?
What happens if I already sent a gift/got a gift? Am I than screwed? Hope not or BFS really needs to rethink this. Can't punish players because they choose to play a game in the morning.

It will probably last from around 17:30:00 UTC December 24th until right before 17:30:00 UTC December 27th.
Usually when Backflip Studios announces a date of something leaving or ending it leaves or ends the next day at around 17:30:00 UTC the past year (except for during daylights savings time then it was 16:30:00 UTC).

Based on the start of which player's day? Everyone's day "starts" at a different time. Blackflip coordinates the timing, usually, with local time in Colorado, USA because that's where BFS is based out of.

but they don't start it at 0000hrs in their own timezone, which is usually the case.
Most games I know do it at midnight wherever you live. Once the new day starts the update goes live.
ok sorry for double as it seems i cant edit posts as guest. this method works as well. starting in the middle of the day in the host timezone is just weird

I've just got a Gift dragon from Backflip. It was not related to receiving gifts from friends. Speaking of which, will all three dragons be Coal dragons then? I am thinking about the Snowflake pedestals and am not sure if we can know which one is which. If two dragons have the same incubation time and the eggs look the same, how will we know which one we'll be displaying?

I wanted to see what it looks like. I don't think I'll be getting one until tomorrow morning or tonight at the earliest. If I am lucky and really get gifts, that is.
I'll make sure you get one tonight when my tree refreshes. Going to try and send gifts to different people over the next few days so that the Coal is spread around!
This may be coincidence, but I was going in to look for Santa, and hit the friend button instead of a path to get X-ray vision. I decided to read the message. It said something about higher level dragons attract more visitors, and that Santa was in my park. I decided to see if that was a hint. I went to my hybrid islands first, because they have the highest level dragons. I found Santa on one of those islands. Later, I tried tapping the visitor button again, this time it said visitors like decorations. This time I found Santa on a island with lots of decorations. My son got the message to try breeding more hybrids to attract more visitors, and found Santa on the island with his breeding cave. We've been trying to test it today in all our parks, but we still cannot say whether it is a coincidence or not, but I thought I would throw it out there for anyone else who wants to try it.
You may be onto something. I got the message about higher level dragons and found Sandy on my Metal island where I have several level 15 dragons!

On a more positive note, I found and tapped santacluz successfully for the first time. On a negative note... I've been noticing that I can only collect 2 sets of friends party hats berries. Since the event srptarted that's a lot of berries lost! No wonder I seem to be behind everyone...
I'm going to email dv after I've figured out precisely how many that will be and hopefully I will be refunded....

You haven't lost anything. You can only collect from 2 friends a day for a total of 10 berries. However, if you collected before doubles started yesterday, you could collect from a third friend and receive the additional 10.
