So since coming back, I spent a lot of time checking the upgraded breeding times thread to see what I might be breeding. With the BerryWhite cave showing original breeding times I have been checking it a lot more for the same reason.
Just looking at the conversation we were having at the time about the cost of the upgrade versus a possible clog in the nursery, I began to think about how that might have panned out with time and first hand experience on our side. So a quick poll …
P.S. I don't mean now with a third breeding cave in play, as nursery clogs are inevitable at the moment.
I have not upgraded my caves because I prefer the looks of the original caves, but I do have clogs once in a while. Sometimes I just wait them out, or once in a while spend a few gems to clear things out.
I often get all nursery slots full. Even before the third wheel habitat came along. Now it is nearly always full. However, while it seems a lot longer at times, the longest (with two sites) you have to wait is the difference between an upgraded site and a standard one. Any longer and you would be waiting with standard sites anyway. So any time you get to put extra eggs through the nursery is the bonus for the upgrade.
The dynamic has changed dramatically with the third habitat. I don't think a day has gone past without having to buy out at least one dragon, and usually more. Of course, I could always just use two of the habitats. But where's the fun in that! Besides the buy outs contribute to my 40 gem a day spend.

It usually just depends for me. Some dragons have a wide vareity of fail times that may result waiting for a half an hour to an entire day. It also depends on how badly I want the dragon as well, as I'll have my nursery full with a constant cycle of eggs coming in and out.

Pretty close to my answer - I'm pretty aggressive in breeding since I'm either trying for a dragon or earning cash from the eggs, so I seem to have it clogged daily (although, obviously, it's not really daily just really really really seems like it ).

I find I have more of a clog in the nursery during BEB events as I breed for limiteds I didn't get because the RNG *hates* me or for displays of limiteds. The addition of a third breeding environment finds me often with a full nursery and a pair ready to be cut loose because they've done their duty. At the moment, I have one slot open with two pairs set to be finished breeding in the next 3 hours. My incubating eggs have 8, 14 and 48 hours. So, I'll end up with a bit of a clog this afternoon that I'll probably buy out.
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all/Gloom, despair, and agony on me... {HeeHaw, 1970s - totally showing my age)

So I wasn't the only one who thought they looked too "institutional"? (I missed the natural-looking tree on the island, though I was ok with the cave).
(Maybe that wasn't the right word? As though dragons gave birth in hospitals...)

Like you, I was okay with the look of the upgraded cave, so I upgraded it. I hate the look of the EBI so I have refused to upgrade it. The way I would describe the upgraded island is too ornate or too garish. It is good to know that others also think they look better the original way.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...
