I've been doing the same thing! Wait, so I shouldn't be breeding my only Galaxy Dragon with my friend's Galaxy Dragon?? I should be using my Epic Dragon with friend's Galaxy Dragon??
Was there anywhere that stated this???
OMG?
We don't know. Its a theory. I know for certain I have gotten galaxy children on one park breeding my galaxy with another galaxy. So its certainly possible. It MIGHT have higher chances of epic children.
Although, to counter act that, seems you'd want to use a regular dragon with someone else's galaxy. NOT an epic.
But to breed galaxy dragons you'll need to pair a galaxy with another galaxy or an epic, so using a regular dragon won't get you any galaxies.
The most compelling reason to use Epic/Galaxy rather than Galaxy/Galaxy is to avoid stacking elements. Those of us who bred for Ovalith during BeB know how awkward combos with 6 or more elements can be, and it's easy to make some bad ones if you're not careful with your galaxies.
Say you're breeding for Bizurian. Using your Galaxies for this can be quite inefficient. Best case is with Polarian, but even then you're adding the 28.5h Polarian and 50hr Dream to the mix. The others give the set of Olympus Dragons or a bunch of Treasure Dragons, which will push your average fail times up a lot. Using Dawn/Dusk doesn't add any elements and is a good combo. Snowflake 1/2 add an element each but don't add any new long fails to the mix and actually push the average fail time down a bit.
There are similar things you can do for each Galaxy. Best idea, as almost always, is to play with the Sandbox for a bit to see. Despite the odd error it is a very powerful tool.
Bizurian will be the last one I need after my Polarian has finished breeding. I struggled to obtain them originally, but after some planning out of breeds I've had 3 out of 4 arrive in quick succession.

Yes you're right Fletch, but I'm sort of collecting Dawns, so I don't mind that, and my point still is that by using your one and only galaxy dragon in the breeding pair you will ALWAYS have a chance of getting more of the same.
Sure. But a fail is a fail. You seem to be suggesting that get another of the same Galaxy you have is the worst possible outcome. What does it matter if the fail is a Galaxy or an epic or a regular hybrid? The only thing you can try and minimise is the average fail time.
Galaxy dragons in fact are great earners and you need 15 to fill up the possible Galaxy habitats. Getting a bunch of Galaxies in what ever flavour is a great way to earn DC whilst trying for others.
........but if you've been trying to breed a second, different galaxy since they were all released, I imagine it would be rather frustrating to have the prospect of filling the habitats with all the same dragon!

Currently Sharing: Snowflake 5 Accepting New Gifts: Sorry, I can't accept any more gem friends, but coop breeding and party hat friends always welcome!
Not sure why I don't show in your list of friends Buffy! You are definitely in my list....have just been touring your beautiful park! I wasn't particularly interested in collecting eggs until having just seen your egg island, but now I think I will!
My Sand is very keen for a second date with River once Shimmer is evicted! Will be back with a request tomorrow! Bed time in the UK now! Thanks again!
Nothing, nada, zero, zilch...
When my cave clears in about 4hr, I will co op breed my River w/ your Sand. Let's hope for a better result.
I didn't start my egg collection till months later. It was hard in the beginning, any unwanted eggs were sold for DC How do you plan to do it? Only collecting twins, or non-twins, or both type of eggs?
Thank you for your efforts Buffy.. much appreciated! And ty very much for the twin Glass egg! I don't have a twin Glass yet, so very welcome. Although it will have to languish for a while in my gift list, due to almost constant backlog in the nursery. My attempt this morning with your River has produced another Shimmer. Yesterday's fail was a River. Oh well, 2.2 + 09 mil DC for the coffer is some compensation! The fail lengths at least aren't horrendous, although frustrating enough!
I've been looking at the Sandbox, and think I will change my shared dragon to Prism. It's in the same set of combos as Sand for the Sprout attempt, so the same fails/max fail time but gives more choices for others as to what to put with it for Sprout, and also of course for other dragons. Thinking it may be a more useful dragon to put up for others as it's a limited epic, and I only have a handful of those to offer! I'm best to share the same one I'm breeding with, to avoid forgetting to change the blue heart!
Have decided to aim for two of each dragon.. ultimately one regular and one twin, and one of each regular egg. The egg collecting will be a very slow start... initially only keeping an egg if the dragon is worth less than about 100 000 DC, as am still at the stage where I need to amass cash for more islands and habitats. But keeping those cheap eggs, feels like a bit of progress on something!

My own opinion in this little debate is that NEITHER WAY IS WORKING FOR ME! So... I can't help anyone out here. I've been using in particular the Galaxy/galaxy recently and have only ever received one fail longer than 24 hours.

I am one of the "all you" that did get something
My quickest galaxy breeding was the Bizurian (after 3 8hr fails), I bred my lvl 4 Moon w/ someone's lvl 10 Bizurian.
Do you want to give the above combination a try? You do have lvl 1 Moon, and sethrock shares his lvl 10 Bizurian. Koala

Ok, all...I just had some very odd behavior in my park. I am sharing so you can watch your parks closely. Last night I tried 6 times to log in and return gifts. Was able to collect coins and hach eggs, replace breeding pairs, etc. But every time I tried to return gifts....the game crashed in the process. I had no idea if gifts were going or not, just as Cyn wrote about yesterday or the day before. After 6 times, i shut it down for the night.
BUT, I left all breeding places full, as follows: EBC: Dark Rift & Shadow, going for Shadow pedestal. 14 hour plus breeding time. EBI: Ironwood & Malachite, going for Malachite 2nd. 9.36 breeding time. CBC: Dusk & someone's Sororian, going for Sororian or any Galactic. 5 hour breeding time.
Today, clearing those areas out and placing the eggs into the nursery for incubation, I received: A Shadow egg, an Ironwood egg, and a CACTUS egg. WHAT?!?!
I sorta feel like I have lost my mind. But I am 100% positive on combos, times shown, and resulting eggs. No screen shot, as that would prove nothing.
I am now re-breeding everyone of those exact same pairs. The CBC gave me 14 hour breeding time this time, the EBC and EBI gave me the exact same times as yesterday, as expected and as they should.
The Wizards are messing with my head.

Anyone else having trouble with crashing? Both Kydolind and I have had several crashes this morning. I have gone in and given the same person a gift several times, only to crash after doing a few more things, like selling a dragon to make room for a twin. When I come back in after the crash, I haven't given the gift or sold the dragon. KYDOLIND collected all the coins off of an island, crashed and came back in and the treasure chests were still there. After about 6 tries, he has given up.

It's been happening to quite a few of us for the past week. It also crashes when you try to choose a new breeding partner in the Co-Op Cave. What device are you on? I have the crashes on my iPad2 but crash free on an iPhone.
Definitely not alone. I've gotten a twin crystal and a whole bunch of 24hr+ fails so far, no Galaxies at all. Fortunately I've needed eggs of a few of the fails, otherwise my breeds would have been frustratingly non-productive.
EDIT: Whining works! Just got the timer for an Arcturian!

My son is on an iPad2 with 59 friends. He has not added any new friends since the Galaxy dragons came out, but has now started to have crashes. I am on an iPad Air 2, and have added over 20 friends, so I'm up to 84. On a baby park on a 4s, with only 13 friends, I'm having no trouble with crashes. I have noticed that on all devices the game loads very slowly, much slower than in the past. We have noticed in the past that too many friends leads to more crashes. When I was playing my main park on my 4s, especially during events, I would crash constantly gifting and doing party hats. As soon as I got the Air2 (an early Christmas present for the Snowflake event) my crashes stopped, until today. For the last several events I did party hats for my daughter, because she crashed too often on her iPad2 to be able to do them, but I had no trouble on the Air2. I would have hoped that BFS would have solved the problem of too many friends causing crashes before they introduced co-operative breeding.

I, too, have crahing problems with my ipad 2. During the events it's worse. My game crashes when I go to the social menu or in the coop cave (everytime when the game center friends are listed), especially when visiting a friend. I think it's a memory problem. The data is too much. During the last event I shortened my friend list (sorry freitag). This helped a bit. But now my friend list is longer then ever. Not good for a new event. In my little park there is no problem with the social menu.
What always helps a bit is a complete shut down of the ipad. (Cleaning the memory use) Oh and it is important to not have any other big app open.
It's very sad that these "technicial" problems oppose the wish to have lots and lots of DV friends.
