Hey guys - question about the island themes. Once you purchase and assign a them to an island, can you later make that island "no theme", and then reassign the theme to a different island, or do you have to buy it all over again? I assume you don't have to purchase it again, but @250 gems each, I want to make absolutely sure before I do it!
When you tap on an island's portal, you have the option to change that island's theme. Selecting "none" puts the island's theme back to default and you can then reassign your theme to another island.
Thanks Viviane for the Procyon. Hope you don't mind a twin one too.
You are most welcome Chemnerd, emm this is already the second twin for that dragon, still trying for andromedan. Maybe i try to pair a monolith 3 with yours ...
Has anyone updated their iPad2 to iOS 8.4 and is Dragonvale behaving okay with the update?
I am always leery about updating until I know that crashing will not ensue.
I have an iPad Air 2 which I updated to iOS 8.4 and my iPhone 5s. No problems at all with dragonvale or Game Center. For US Happy 4 th of July.
Thanks tspring! Still a bit leery as the iPad2 has been crashing with the Social Menu whilst the iPad Air2 has not had the same problems. Luckily I have been using my iPhone to access the Social Menu with no problems. Thanks for letting me know that I can update my phone.

So Vivi, are you the one with the new lucky breedable dragons in your park? Brace yourself for Twins!

OK BFS, I get it. I have three 31+ Hour fails incubating, one 28 hour fail breeding, etc, etc, etc. You're making it harder to breed dragons, failures are much longer and dragons are available for short times. It's been admirably incremental, but you're now forcing players to buy gems if they want complete collections.

I feel your pain Poppy and apparently so do many other players judging from the Dragonvale Facebook page. Giving players a new breeding site without increasing the slots in the Hatchery was a stupid move on their part. I don't think it was the BFS people who came up with that, it was more likely the higher ups at Hasbro. Hasbro better address this quickly or the next thing you know all of their toys and games at the big box stores could find themselves migrating to the top shelves and behind the Parker Brothers games where the kids can't see them.

I also feel your pain, and I'm rapidly losing interest in the game. I refuse to be forced into buying gems; and with all the long fails, I spend less and less time in the game, because I have nothing to do. I don't have all the long fails at the moment, but I bred 2 possible Deliriums today. They both turned out to be Shimmers. That makes a total of 5 Shimmers and 2 Caves. After the last Shimmer, I bred yet another "rare" Geode. I'm hoping for success for all of us.

Hasbro buying this game was the worst thing that could have happened. I only login 2 times a day now just to go through the motions....I don't care if I miss a dragon now as they will just offer it up for sale at a later date or a BEB event.

Oh Poppy, I feel your pain and anger. After a long period of having all and averything, I'm now missing two dragons, and several seconds and eggs. I try to see it as a challenge to still get them without buying gems. The long fails are a problem though. If nothing is to be done, the only result is to play less.. Oh well, after all there is a RL outside and maybe it's good to play less ....

My baby park is falling further and further behind. Could not get the last few Limiteds despite breeding non stop. Did not receive an Emerald because of all the long fails. It really seems like they should have started 3.0 as a brand new and totally separate game.

Very sorry to hear of this. Wishing you the best. BFS have lost a very loyal community member. Koala

I'm in the same boat but with a couple of 48 hour fails tossed in. Yes, I realize I could burn through my gem stash but with the ridiculous number of long fails, it would be less of a hit to just buy the dragons. And that's not how I want to play this game. Since the advent of the Galaxies, which I love in theory, I have found myself spending increasingly less time playing DV. I check in daily to gift my gems and lament the loss of other friends who quit due to the boredom or frustration.
Another way to look at it is that the new game structure slows down the game so it will last longer. When they released a new island and 5 new levels, many people rocketed through them in a day or so. This game is very addictive (she said running 4 parks) and there is a voracious appetite for new content.
I agree with Poppy - the game is less interesting and fun. It appears to be making it so you have to buy gems. I'll probably keep playing for awhile, but my patience is getting shorter and shorter.

I don't mind if it takes time to get a new dragon, but they need to allow enough time to get it. The problem is that the "rares" have become common and the "commons" have become rare. My fails are consistently Arctic or above in length. I have bred a few shorter dragons, I even got 1 poison, but with 3 times as many fails under 20 hours, why do we all get so many 20+ hour fails? For players like myself, who don't spend a lot of gems (I'm saving for the lost island and more themes), it just means there is no reason to go into the game, because there is nothing to do. If their goal is to get players to play the game less, it's working. If their goal is to keep players in the game, I'm not so sure.
