Meh ... they didn't fail. They're not overly concerned about whether we post or not. At the end of the day it's just one thread about one game on a forum with over 180 000 members. The only thing that might come out of it is them realising they handled it badly. Will be sending some messages to Admins suggesting as such along with things they might want to think about. If they have any humility they might learn something from it. If not, iPad forum will go on fine without us.

This 100%. They're claiming it like they own it. It's like me deleting my threads of any thing I've discovered about the game. Now it's certainly possible that they have something in the TOS that says they DO own anything posted by anyone ... but that's just rude.
KevinJS has tried to put some of the information back in the rare breeding guide and posted this.

The "LOL" would get a warning. Giving him cut and paste instructions would get you banned for life.

I moderate a YUKU board, and I can restore anything a user deletes of his/her own stuff. I can't imagine that board would be any different?
ETA, I don't think the content would be proprietary. It's cracking the formula of a program really. (?)

VERY happy to be here, so many thanks (as always) to Shellee for the text giving me the heads up. I saw a bit of the other boards implosion and could not help but think it was pretty inevitable really. Shellee and I had discussed heading elsewhere LONG before now, especially after I had a particularly frustrating PM exchange with a Mod over my interpretation of their (frankly anal) signature rules, so I'm beyond pleased its finally happened. We didn't move earlier because we enjoyed the community there so much (and I doubt everyone would have moved back then) but obviously now the Mods have shown just how ridiculous they can be and most people have jumped ship together. It's great to be able to speak freely and without fear!!
Thanks to Poppy and everyone else for making this new home for us. I still won't be on all the time but I will definitely make an effort to pop in more.

I don't mean the formulas, but they could have something in the TOS that says "Anything you write on on our forums becomes the property of iPad forums" or similar. That way you lose the right to edit it or delete any of your posts.
I'm with you, the fact it allowed you to delete your own content points to the ownership question IMO. I do some extensive analysis on a completely different topic and I've been in the position of deleting my contributions on a particular public board and moving it to a friendlier location. In my case the board owner couldn't care less. Be flattered, they recognize the value of information more than they value their membership. The reverse can be worse, lots of traffic and bad information.....
