The most common duration of feeling bad is about one day after getting the second vaccine shot. Mild symptoms like we've described are actually a good sign, it's telling you that your body is properly adapting to the vaccine and doing it's 'initial' fight against it. That's the first wave response. Then over the course of the next couple weeks, your adaptive immunity will start working with it to give you the real protection from the virus.
For most people, that initial response is the biggest thing they notice, as it causes the headaches, fatigue, etc as your innate immunity kicks in immediately to fight the vaccine. Not feeling well right after the shot is one indicator that you have a strong immune response to changes. The adaptive immunity later doesn't appear to cause side effects for most, but clearly can as seen with grandpakenny who had issues 1-2 weeks later. This is why they tell you that you do not have your strongest immunity to covid until at least 2 weeks after the second shot.

Forgot to mention that along with the last side effects (last Mon-Tue), was minor tingling around the area of my Pacemaker! Since 2008, I’ve had 2 pacers in the same spot (beneath my right collarbone) and never had any pain, not even after their implantation. Happy to know my body is adapting 😁.

Oh my, GPK is it normal to have the effects of the shot last so long?? What does your doctor say??
My dad got off extremely easy with his shots, Pfizer through the VA. He had no side effects with his first shot and only a mild headache and a bit of fatigue with his second shot. I was so worried for him, he’s 86.
I hope everything has all cleared up before you get the second dose. 💗
So glad your dad made it through, I was pulling for him 😁.
I had no side effects between Day 1 & 4 or Day 6 & 11 and none since this last time...I’m my old self again. The side effects I did have weren’t debilitating, at their worst, they just made me semi-miserable for about 6 hours.
Meanwhile, I took my 99 yo 8th grade English teacher (she weighs 99 lbs. too!) & her 74 yo daughter for their 1st Moderna shot last Thursday. The daughter felt a little bad on Day 3 but no side effects for her mom except minor soreness at injection spot for a few hours. (Let’s face it, if you make it to 99, you gotta be tough. 😆).
I’m not worried about Shot #2 but thanks for your concern LM, you’re a good friend 😁.
Oh wow! You still know your 8th grade teacher!! And you help her and her daughter out. That’s beautiful GPK 💖. I’m so glad you are feeling better. 😊 My dad’s a tough one too. Now he’s just got to survive this Arctic cold coming down on him. 🥶 I got out of there just in time. It was sleeting about 30 miles of my drive out of Okla back to Texas. Are you having the same Arctic blast on your side of the Rocky’s? Down here in TX we are going to be in the 20’s, brrr! A whole lot colder than my sunny 87* back home in SoFla.

Weather here in WestCO is the best on the world (except for California). We’re protected from all the extreme, harsh weather. Not too hot in summer, not too cold in winter. No floods, no tornadoes, no hurricanes, no earthquakes, maybe a blizzard every couple years. Last summer, for the first time, we did have a lot of smoke from forest fires here and in Cali. It’s 54 here right now 😁. Stay warm...

Oh my gosh! I’ve had no power for the past 20ish hours.!! And no cell service either!! It’s 56*F inside the house and 12*F outside with windchills -7 🥶🥶🥶
We had this freaky winter storm, that had, get this, Thundersnow! Yep it’s a real meteorology thing. We had this thunderstorm come up from the Gulf of Mexico and it hit into this Artic blast coming from the dipping jet stream. thundersnow. We had freezing rain coming down like bbs followed by a couple inches of snow. It knocked out the power and cell service all over the Houston area. Let me tell you, I am definitely not a cold weather creature. Thanks God the power just came back on. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I still don’t have phone service, but wifi is back up!

I’m so glad you’re safe! And thank goodness the Wi-Fi is back up!! 😅 I don’t want to make it sound like that’s the most important thing... but it sort is.

Well 10 days ago, on the sunday mid day, my router had decided that it had lived enough, dead! It took 5 days for the provider to send me a new one. Luckily nmy nice neighbors shared their connection with me and I survived. And glad I have an iPhone cose my regularly phone is connected through internet. So no phone no internet... hard time.

I can't decide if LynnMarie is speaking Dragonese, or adlerist is seeing dragons everywhere, even when it isn't intended.
LynnMarie That sounds like an awful 20ish hours in freezing conditions. I hope everything is back to normal for you now.

We woke up with the power off again yesterday, only to realize it was an intentional outage, rolling blackout my a#$e. The kitchen faucet froze up too. 🤨 But we are lucky ones. The heat came back on after 9 hours and the faucet unfroze before going to bed. This morning we are just waiting for it to go out again. It’s ridiculous that Texas isn’t connected to the national power grid, that they don’t have enough output to supply all its residents. people are seriously hurting here.

Lol adlerist It must be subconsciously, hehe. Either that or we have a lot of weather related dragon names. 🙄😂 I much better I like the idea of being able to speak dragonese, I’ve always wanted to speak another language!
MinyaZ It’s perfectly natural for adlerist to be able to see the dragons in everyday conversation, hehe. After all, she speaks Dragonese herself!
We had 9 more hours with out power yesterday, so far so good today. But a lot of people are really suffering.😢 There are frozen/burst public water lines all over the place and now some residents have no water on top of no power. We have a boil water notice.

LynnMarie-thanks for asking. It was quite a ride! Without power for 48 hours (house was 52 degrees inside at the coldest), then it was on for about 5 hours, out for another 14ish hours, then a somewhat consistent rolling blackout of 1 hour up then 3 or 4 hours down. It's been on since 8pm Wednesday and hopefully it stays that way! Water went out twice and we also have a boil water notice. Luckily no busted pipes. We all agree that hurricanes are SO much better - much rather have heat than cold any (and every) day! I only missed one DV day.
We drove around once each day to get service so I could *cough* check my work emails. Family went into the store for some necessities on Tuesday and I stayed in the car *mumbles something about DragonVale. 😂😂😂😂😂 Got some serious eyerolls for that, but they were all gaming while I was driving - so there! It was much warmer than walking around outside in 29 degree weather trying to get past the DV splash screen! Only slipped on the driveway twice before realizing I could walk on... the... snowy... grass... Only hurt my pride - not even the squirrels were out to laugh at me.
adlerist - Thank you for the warm wishes! I enjoyed the dragon name highlights!
My thoughts go out to everyone affected. Many had it so much worse than we did.

Oh, I’m so glad you all are okay! 😅. Even though we lost power a few times, we are So very lucky compared to so many others. The HEB reopened today, but no meat, dairy, eggs, all perishables are empty. This after waiting in line to get in.
And the ice, right!! I’m not at all used to that. I had to use a silicon kitchen spatula to scrape ice of the car windshield. We used two boxes of salt on the drive and were still slipping and sliding around. 🤣 my grandkids were so excited to see the snow. They came running to the window saying Christmas is here, Santa came! 😇. For that matter, my daughter is 28 and never seen snow either. Now she hopes this is the last time ever will.
do stay warm. We have another deep freeze coming tonight. The city is telling everyone to turn off the water and drain the lines for overnight. Hopefully we should be back in the 60’s* in a few days. 🤞🏻

LynnMarieBagMom We are in the DALLAS - Ft Worth area. Our power went out Sunday night until Wednesday, water out until tonight. We stayed at a friends who was fortunate enough to have water and electric. I like the snow but not this much!
TX has its own power grid in order to avoid federal utility fees. We produce more energy than any other state so the loss of power shouldn’t have happened. One of the problems was the electric plants not being winterized, even though many years ago they were given funds to do so. The wind farms weren’t winterized either. (Because this weather never happens, right?) plenty of natural gas but the underground pipes froze... The governor has called for ERCOT to be investigated and I really hope that happens.
I’m glad you’re both ok. Come August this will be a fond memory. 😎😊

Oh my Gosh!! I’m so glad you have a place to go and stay warm. I hope none of the water lines in your home got broken from the freezing temps. I grew up near Oklahoma City and we visited friends in Dallas all the time. I remember the area got snow in the winter, but nothing like this, or this far south.
and you are so right. ERCOT needs to be help responsible🤨. Not winterizing and having the wells freeze up is one thing, but not having enough of a backup supply of natural gas to be able run the power generators is just wrong. Then charging a surplus to the customers for what little reserve they do have! Corporate greed is causing so many people to suffer. 😥 Then I saw that some of the board members and directors don’t even live here! Ahh, makes my so irritated.
I don’t understand why Texas has to have their own grid, now days. It’s not like they are going to concede any day now. We are the United States and as being United we share all our natural resources with each other. The interconnection is for the security of the people. The Pacific Northwest doesn’t say I have all the trees so I keep all the lumber. Pennsylvania shares coal, Kansas wheat, Georgia cotton, etc. Maybe if there had been federal regulations to follow here in Texas, this might not have happened.
let me get off my soap box now. Obviously I’m not a born and bred Texan and maybe you have to be to accept it all. By the time it all thaws, I will most likely be on my way back to florida.
I’m just really glad you are okay. I hope you and your loved ones didn’t have suffer too much during all this freezing cold. 🥰

Got my Moderna #2 💉 4 hours ago. So far, so good...🤞
Before I got the shot I went to to the Chick-Fil-A for one of those new, over-advertised, Spicey Chicken Sandwiches. Well, it was 12:30PM, lunchtime, when I got there...You wouldn’t believe it, there were 2 lanes of cars, wrapped all the way around the building, merging down to 1 lane at the drive-up window! I parked my car and tried to walk into restaurant and there was a lady at the entrance, monitoring the customers. The restaurant was only allowed to be half capacity. There were 6 people waiting to get in in front of me. Needless to say, I didn’t get my Spicy Chicken Sandwich today. I’ll try again next week.

Moderna #2, Day 2
Woke up this morning a little tired. Became more tired as the day went on. Took a nap. Injection spot just a little sore but not as sore as the first shot. Shoulders & knees a little sore along with some muscles. No fever 👏. Stretching really feels good. All-in-all, not too bad. 😊

So glad you have no fever, 😅 and hey, naps are good 😄😴👍🏻
lol GPK, Chick-fil-A ALWAYS has a line, around the building, down the street and across the way. But they are fast and that line goes quickly. In florida, here in Texas too, they have employees out taking orders on tablet devices to expedite everything. Well worth the wait IMHO 😋
