I like the super zoom out feature... really helps see all the islands and the patterns in the Rift.
I bought 5 of each Rift Theme and grouped my islands in groups of the same theme... next step would be to put dragons of that alignment on those islands... but not enough room to move that many dragons.

I started playing dv when it first came out, side by side with my young daughter who is now an adult! We were charmed by everything about it and in no particular hurry to collect dragons, simply enjoying the journey and delighted by its creativity, beauty, and excellent design. The THRILL of getting my first rainbow dragon!! ...Life got busy, kids got older, my daughter started high school and we both dropped off the game. Then recently, years later, for some reason on the same day in separate cities and without any discussion, we both picked it back up. It felt like a foreign landscape at first - remarkably, I was able to recover my original game although initially I started a new one, so now have two going simultaneously - but we spent time on the phone talking and sharing information and discussing the sandbox etcetera and slowly eased ourselves back in to this awesome vale of dragons world! We sometimes strategise breeding in the co-op and It's so cool to get twins together.
So thank you for the reality check! I'm here to have fun. And connect with my daughter, and goof around and not get all worked up about a rainbow unicorn dragon even if I truly do NEED IT. Oops, I mean, whatever
I love this! That you and your daughter share DV across geographies! I play with my brother and we are on opposite sides of the continent. But we're always chatting about what dragon we need put up in the Co-op, what combo we used to breed a particularly elusive dragon, etc.
DV can facilitate more than just dragon collecting (but when they are so shiny like the Chromacorn, it's hard to remember!! lol)

You know, it occurs to me, as I continue to burn thru E up to 10,000 daily 😱 and including those E10,000 breeds some days, that breeding rainbows in the rift is not so bad during BeB; I've scored no unicorn, but several other Rdraggies I didn't have, so, lopsided smile 😏 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 to everyone on the 'corn hunt;Tally Ho! 🦄🦄🦄🦄

I'm glad I checked here before buying my next island. I had been on vacation for a week, collecting E but not buying anything. I had almost 300k E saved and was ready to buy island 53 in the rift, but noticed people talking about snowflake rift eggs. Managed to spend 200k and get a twin rift of each dragon, and a twin rift egg of each too. Much better use of my Etherium, as these won't be available as twins after the mystery egg expires.
So is it possible to breed any of the epics with a rift element? Like could you make a rift rainbow dragon, or are only the special rift dragons and the 90 hybrids the only possible outcomes?
You can breed them, but they can't get the Rift element. I was breeding Voltaic/Light Rift for Antumbra and got an instant standard Dream dragon which was fun.
So if a rainbow cannot have a rift trait how can we possibly even think of getting the Chromacorn dragon? Everything I've seen about it says it has to use a rainbow and double rainbow bred IN THE RIFT. If we can't get a rainbow dragon with a rift trait it can't stay IN THE RIFT to be bred.
Well, things have been going pretty great the past couple of days in my park. I’m one piece away from having Tsaishen (finally), I bred rift versions of melancholy, scorn, cuddlewing, Stygian, and....(drumroll please) PORTENT!! I’m so happy that I finally got Rift Portent, because I had tried for like a week last time it was available and missed out on it along with the other dream dragons at the time. Combine that with getting a rift of every type of snowflake with the new snowflake mystery egg (thank goddess for it), finding a couple twins that had been hiding in my social menu (which means that I will have blue fire again after getting Tsaishen - I think I’m just gonna use a wish to get Chromocorn), all with getting a Rift Pyrite from a mystery egg, and yea, the koala has been raining down on my park, for a pretty stellar belated birthday gift from DragonVale.
I have a burning question... I have all the dragons that are rift possible on my wishlist if I don’t own them, and I’ve calculated that with max islands I’ll still have 114 dragons I won’t have room for. I suppose more island will be made available, but I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this?

That seems to be the standard for the rift. Most of the time, we can't display all of the available dragons. That's what happens when it's easier to add new (old) dragons to the rift than it is to find new ways to give us more room in the rift while still balancing the game. I'm hoping for a large rift expansion at some point, that will allow us to display not just all rift versions, but maybe a couple of different elements too.
If they just add more habitats, it just inflates the Etherium income for players. The balance on how many breeds you can attempt per day changes, and it probably becomes too easy to get dragons. Maybe they can come up with some new decoration type islands that don't collect, but at least let you display everything. More likely it'll be a 6th upgrade that is so costly, it takes forever to earn back the E.

I've been shifting rift dragons back to my main park. Partly because I am struggling to display 1 of each rift traited dragon I get, and partly because I spend so little time in the rift I barely ever notice the rift uniques floating around in there.
You know, it occurs to me, as I continue to burn thru E up to 10,000 daily 😱 and including those E10,000 breeds some days, that breeding rainbows in the rift is not so bad during BeB; I've scored no unicorn, but several other Rdraggies I didn't have, so, lopsided smile 😏 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 to everyone on the 'corn hunt;Tally Ho! 🦄🦄🦄🦄

Same .. though weirdly, every time a Trench dragon is a result, it's un-rifted. Has happened 3 times now (on different days). What is it about Trench not wanting to be rifted?!
I just got an unexpected result in the rift. I was breeding a Rifted Rainbow with a Rifted Double Rainbow (in the hopes of a Chromacron, which is still eluding me) and I got a Rifted Candlecrown! I thought that Candlecrowns had a locked combo (Holly plus any dragon with a Fire element)...
And today I got a Rifted Woolen...
I'm beginning to wonder if the dragons from the Jolly Jubilee no longer have locked breeding combos...

So much bad luck in my park... Almost Every Mystery Egg gave me a Rift form I already have. And I'm decided I adore for a Rift Dawnbringer in my park. So I bred Blazing and Abyss. (Don't have Rift Equinox)No luck yet. I hope to achieve it before this mini BEB ends.

All I have bred is rainbow with double rainbow and I’ve gotten a lot of dragons I didn’t have (minus the unicorn) . I gave up on buying mystery eggs bc I never got dragons I needed.
In case anyone is feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the new rift dragons to get and the various breeding requirements to get them, I thought I’d share a few breeding combos that I’m using and that have yielded some pretty great results:
Moon + gourd = nightbloom*, midnight* (now that the breeding combo has been updated), ragnarok*, reindeer, bone, garden, ire*, oni, paper, regift, spectre, trick, ortreat, gift, trinket, nosferatu, bounteous, leap year*, thicket, ghost, serenity*, satin, wyrmwood, plumpkin, teozinte, cotton, decay, garland, lycan, melancholy*, nesting, spring, surprise*, Smitten, blue moon, scorn*, aurora*, Party
*newly (or relatively newly) Rifted. Also, lovely motley will be popping up for all breeding combos.
Thank you for this list! I took a break from trying for Chromacorn and did Light Rift + opulent. I got prism, fates, and aurora before the 2500 E level in one day.
