I would try Thorn + Spore first and get as many as you need before metal and/or plant with Thorn because the Spores are instant breed/hatch, but metal and plants are 48hours each.
I haven't had luck getting the added traits on my Shadow or Mirage, but a family game used Mirage + Water Rift on a Water alignment day and also Blue Rift + Air Rift on an Air alignment day and got both of the needed dragons. I'll keep trying on mine...
I really wish we could use coop for rifts all the time. I have the Plasma with Metal that would help two of our games!

A few questions:
Does Kairos also affect the rift?
Is the opposite breeding rule gone in both the park and rift? I got a blue fire and current whole breeding a galaxy and galaxy (solar flare and the black dragon with the yellow hue around it) in the co-op.
If I transfer a rift to the park can I feed it at the normal dragon rate?
Can you breed the primary rift dragons?
And lastly the egg rift design for the dragons. Do all of them look the same and just have the animation? So blazing light trait looks the same as blazing earth trait? Those eggs look amazing and I'm trying to see if I want to try for each egg which would be 100^10 eggs?!!! My math might be wrong.
Thanks in advance to all your help dragon wizard geniuses!!!
So today has been a lesson in not getting so excited about what I read here that I rush off to breed without reading other responses.
Thorn/Spore breeding in CBC is as of a minute ago still alive and well. When I first Read about it still being available in steelbluefire's post. I rushed to get them for the economic sake of my rift. I was one who upgraded to the rift BEFORE reading here about the need to feed up all the event dragons first. Siiiiigggghhhh
So feeding my original spore to 19 (ran out of food at that expensive rate) I then bred 50 Spores in CBC with my smaller park's thorn. Then I came back to the forum to read the breakdown again on the best way to buy vs lvl up rift habitats.
What do I find 😱! I should have read after sbf' post and found out the feeding was better if I fed them before logging out😭😭😭😭.
Back to my park to breed 50 more and harvest lots of peppers but way less than needed for the original 50 which were already at the more expensive rate of food. Thankfully the second batch of 50 I was able to feed up to 10 at the lower rate 😅. Then I discovered the 1.3 million rate for selling each of original 50 that I couldn't feed up because it was tooo expensive.
Yes I did have to use more gems than I like speeding the Malachite, Ironwood, Thorn fails. But I also got a pedestal & twin of all 3 to add to my collection 😁😁😁!!
so now I'm not worried about spending so much trying to breed rift dragons because I often get non rift fails. I am on my way to a purple crystal money machine. 🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂
Sorry this post is rather tortuous to read but I am to tired and my brain can't put together funny thoughts to save my life.
Now I'm going to go find oldsmol posts and refresh myself enjoying the beauty of the art he makes To share here.

With the demise of game centre I just started in FB to be able to friend people from this forum and join in on the fun. Please message me if you want to send a friend request so I know to watch for you😊, I never check FB otherwise. I'm deleting random requests way too many of those 😮.

in order of the questions you asked: 1) yes, it speeds up the E3M generated in the habitats but does not speed up the airships 2) opposite dragons are able to be bred with just the 2 elements in the breeding combo; a primary elemental dragon is not required as one of the parents. So you could try for 4 opposites, ex/ mirage, shadow, plasma, and current, if you bred spark + lotus. 3) rift dragons require the same amount of food regardless of where they are located, park or rift dimension. The only exception being spore, if you breed it in the CBC and feed it immediately once you place it in a non rift habitat (and don't reload your game). 4) people have reported breeding the primary elemental rift dragons if they are used as parents in the rift (the only exceptions being plant and metal if bred with thorn in the CBC) but they are pretty low chances. If you don't have one, you'll have to buy it in the market. 5) if you wanted to get all the Rift versions, hatching is 900 traits (10 x 10 basic elements = 100 minus the 10 primary elemental rift dragons = 90 and each can have 10 elemental rift traits), but the eggs are all the same no matter what trait you egg, which makes just 90 eggs to breed. So I recommend making egg pedestals of duplicate traits that you have bred.
In the rift, if I bred a dodo with lightning trait w a metal rift dragon when my Rift is aligned to metal, wouldn’t I have a good chance of getting a dodo w metal trait?

It does!
Just want to double check:
I don't necessarily a to breed Earth Rift with Blazing/Smoke dragon with a Fire trait from step 1, to get a Dodo dragon with a Fire trait.

The earth element just needs to be in right?
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah. That post was from before the opposite breeding rules changed. I wrote updated recipes here for the opposite Rifts. But deviation from them is fine as long as you have both of the opposite's elements in the parent's elements, and the target trait in either a parent's trait or the Rift Alignment (though the more the better for the those). Opposites now work just like regular hybrids, just rarer, and with the caveat that you still can't breed the opposite elemental primary dragons together.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Steelbluefire for your huge tip on the spore/thorn breeding in the CBC !!!! And many THANK YOU as well Quil for the tip on feeding the dragons before logging out !
I didn't have spore on my main park, so I took one on a baby park and my thorn: got a bunch of spores, with plant trait or not, and a twin 😊 So now I can send them well fed in the rift to make etherium... Though I don't understand why some spores have plant trait, and some not; they can all go in the rift, so why this difference?
On another happy note I've bred a plasma with metal trait, using lightning and rust with metal trait, in only 3 attempts; zaffer, I'm getting close to you 😄
1) Normal 2) Twin 3) The one in the picture = normal with riftsign(?)
Thank you!

Hi Olds,
I'm not the best at explaining things, but I'll give it a go!
The simple answer is yes, there is a now a third type of dragon - but only for the original 90 hybrid dragons. So looking at your screenshot, there is a third type of smoke dragon, but it is impossible to get a smolder dragon of the third type (for now, backflip might add them later).
More about the third type...
If you find your Smoke+ dragon and have a look at it you will see that it displays 3 elements: fire, air and rift. Your normal and twin smoke dragons are just fire and air.
Third type, or rift type, dragons are bred in the rift and will always have a "trait". That's dragonvale speak for the element symbol in the circle that you can see on smoke+ in your screenshot. The trait can be any of the 10 elements, plant/fire/earth/lightning/cold/water/air/metal/light/dark.
You could see this as being 10 separate extra types of smoke dragon, one with each symbol. However, you don't need to collect all 10. when you breed a new smoke+ dragon, for example one with the plant symbol that automatically makes it possible to change your original smoke+ dragon to a plant symbol and back to a fire symbol whenever you want. So I see it as a third type of dragon, but with 10 settings to unlock.
Finally, a note on pedestals. You can also make pedestals of the third type for your Eggland. They look very similar to the pedestals of the normal dragons, but they have a slight animation on top. It's more visible on some eggs than others. The trait makes no difference to the pedestals, so there are just 90 to collect.
I would try Thorn + Spore first and get as many as you need before metal and/or plant with Thorn because the Spores are instant breed/hatch, but metal and plants are 48hours each.
Thing is I don't have either of those lol. Does it have to be Thorn or is there a substitute?

Iron Blossom should work as well. Also, you could try to breed your first Spore the regular way.

Does that help at all?
Also, oldsmol, I would send that rift Smoke dragon straight to the rift, put him on a rift habitat and level him up so he can start earning his keep! As well as any others who display any rift trait.
Sending dragons to the rift: Go to the rift gate and touch, then select the second option with the arrows. Now you can send dragons to the rift, two at a time if you like.
Please keep asking us anything. We want to help you!
