@ "althea": Think the breeding calculator doesn't take any trait into account. Breeding rule is the same as Plumewing, just an rift element plus water trait. If one of the breeding parents or the rift itself has a water trait/alignment... Kampos. But if the calculator isn't showing Plumewing in the same way, maybe it's still a failure.
Looking again at the results, the only one that doesn't make sense to me is the Kampos. Where the heck did he come from?? There is no water trait in either Air Rift or Plumewing. No water to be found, anywhere, in those 2 parents.
Kampos is supposed to be like Plumewing in that all it needs is a water trait and a Rift element to be bred. So, Water Rift X any dragon can supposedly produce a Kampos. I was just messing around with the breeding calculator and Kampos keeps popping up as a result in combos where Air Rift is used but no water trait is present in the other parent dragon. That seems like maybe a mistake in the calculator?? Air Rift X Plant Rift gives Kampos as a possible outcome and that can't be right. 🤔
You can get Kampos any time you breed in the rift and your park alignment is on water. All rift dragons contribute the rift element and the park alignment contributes the water trait.
As the sandbox has no way of knowing what traits your parents have (unless they have locked traits) or what alignment your park is on I assume it is just programmed to always include plumewing and kampos if it knows at least one parent carries the rift element. I think if you select kampos/plumewing there's a disclaimer somewhere that they require a specific trait.

Stupid technical question. I have one park. My iPad is connected to Facebook and Game Center. My phone is also connected to Game Center. Can I connect it to Facebook as well. Facebook has a notification that you already connected something to it. Will I screw everything up if I say yes. Hate technology.
PSA everyone always have a screenshot somewhere of your park ID

I've just bitten the bullet & linked my main Park to my Facebook account (I was getting worried I might lose my main Park which isn't connected to my Apple ID) it came up with the same message about already connected to another account - it then said only one Park can be connected to my Facebook account, I confirmed ok to this & it's now connected to both FB & GC.
I have 5 Parks so on the select Park page it shows my main Park connected to FB & GC and all my others connected to GC only.
Not sure that really answers the question... but I think if you only have one Park it shouldn't be a problem 😊

Thanks noodles. I'll try. I've heard horror stories about iOS 12 and multiple parks, losing all but one. Be very very careful about updating when that happens
Still dithering. Anyone have multiple devices connected to both Facebook and Game Center of the same park

Yes, I have my main park on my ipad attached to game center and facebook, and on my iPhone attached to game center and facebook. I did link them a couple years ago, and I do recall seeing that message, but had no issues. Sometime earlier this year, I lost the facebook link on my phone and re-did it, same message, and worked. But that was prior to ios 11, if that matters at all.

I hear you! I'm not updating one of my devices just in case! But I feel that one day it's very possible I will lose the other Parks - as all I've spent in those is time I wouldn't be quite so heart broken - I'd be upset but it wouldn't feel like the end of the world like it would losing my main Park 🙀

This is probably really late, but I was just checking the first page again and noticed the etherium cost per habitat spot maths. I'm unsure about the conclusion regarding when to upgrade to Regal, both because of Magpac's note and another factor: the effect that buying a new habitat has on the next slots.
Yes, at 20/40 habitats, the cost of getting a slot from adding a new habitat is equal to the cost of upgrading a habitat to Regal. But, you also now have a Regular habitat that you can upgrade, so the next 3 habitat slots will cost less etherium at 500, 1000 and 2500. So the cost per 4 slots might be a better number to compare.
Cost to upgrade 4 Refined to Regal: 4*5000 = 20000 Cost to buy a Regular and upgrade to Refined = {habitat cost}+500+1000+2500 = {habitat cost}+4000 The point where they are equal is when the cost of a habitat plus 4000 is equal to 20000, so at 16000. The cost to buy a new habitat caps at 15000, so the cost per habitat slot is never in favour of upgrading to Regal...
Upgrading benefit your cap though, and by 25 the gains from not upgrading are minimised. If you're overcapping a lot, the difference will be eroded fairly quickly, making upgrading favourable again...
So when to upgrade? I think the biggest factor is really how much you need to spend in clearing to fit in the new/bigger habitats, which varies and is particularly irregular in the case of Regals where the actual number of squares you need to clear to fit them in depends on how much you've cleared for previous Regals, the overall shape of your Rift clearing due to going for buildings, those bits of the entry island that aren't 5x5... Lots of stuff. Most of the time I'd say you need to clear more squares to get slots if you're upgrading to Regals, but not always.
I've honestly got no idea when is optimal. I'm waiting until 40 to upgrade, but that's more because I like the neatness, rather than any actual strategy. To be fair I don't think there's a lot in it either way.
Okay, that's enough math talk now, back onto interesting posts!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but today I turned a rift dragon that I bred into a rift egg pedestal, but I had never bred that trait on that dragon before (duplicate rift dragon - crystal- but new rift trait -cold, I've bred lightning and air before). Next time I played, I could swap out the lightning trait for cold in the Transfiguration Tower. So, before others have mentioned releasing a dragon with a new trait and still having it unlocked in the tower, but it turns out turning it into a pedestal does that as well.
And now my process will be: 1) breed and hatch the first type of dragon into the rift with whatever trait first comes, 2) pedestal the second trait, and 3) either hatch, sell, or release any subsequent dragons depending on if I have the space or need the DC or E3M.
Now I'm confused. Am I the only one who thinks this is not correct? Until this post I thought a rift dragon (rift exclusive dragons as well as standard dragons with rift trait) CAN'T inherit an element from a trait? In my opinion they can inherite elements from elements of their parents and traits from traits of their parents or the rift alignment. In the breeding example given here the Plumewing has inherited the air ELEMENT from the Air Rift Dragon, because ARD has the element air. In this case Plumewing inherits the Air trait too, because that's the only reason he gets a Plumewing and not a standard Blazing or Inferno without any rift element. Of course you can also get a rift version of Blazing or Inferno from this breeding combo, but that's just pure luck and depends wether they inherit a trait or not. The trait just decides if your breeding results in a dragon with rift element (only dragons with trait also have the rift element) but not which of the basic elements it inherits.
At least that's how I understood breeding in the rift until now. Am I wrong...?
I think your theory is still correct. Some of the rift-exclusive dragons have different elements from those in their breeding combo. For example, Thunderbird requires earth and lightning with the fire trait, but the dragon itself is light and dark with the fire trait. In the case of such dragons, it seems like the trait is the only part that gets passed down. I think Plumewing is confusing because it only requires 1 element to breed, but then retains that element and adds another element into the mix.
Either way, I think the main rule still holds: for dragons without locked combinations, only elements contribute to the resulting breed, not the traits.
These new breeding rules have me in a tizzy. Sometimes I shove two dragons and I understand the results but sometimes I'm just left scratching my head. I got both my Kampos and Plumewing with Metal R and Spore on water alignment and air alignment perspectively. So most of the time I just throw random dragons and wait to see what they get me.

Oh, thank you for that info! I was wondering about it but had not come to a circumstance to test it. Didn't you say before that you were distrustful of the idea that Released dragons were still leaving their traits behind for their "sibs"? (Or was that magpac ?) It made me question it, too, and I began keeping all my traited hatchlings, just in case. I'll still keep some extras for displaying the most beautiful traits (love all the Willows now!)

I was distrustful of the releasing method to unlocking traits, but I decided to test the egg pedestal method on a whim with a crystal, thinking that it would be a fail at least in the future or I could just unlock the trait (if I missed it) in the Transfiguration Tower. Thankfully I didn't miss anything.

Just a quick FYI, the "log into your park before the reset to get bonus candy, iceberries, roses etc" glitch HAS BEEN FIXED BY BFS. I logged in about 10 minutes before reset and after claiming my Day 5 pumpkin, I got the message that Double Candy Weekend has ended. Please wait while we clean up the extra wrappers. It booted me out and reloaded. 1000 candies MAX. They have the right to do this, but, sad face.

but "threads" does fit nicely with journeywoman 's accessories metaphor for the traits

Not as angry as before. Still don’t understand as before. Taking my time. Collecting for my Eggland. Rebuilding. The third egg is often the most beautyful egg. Look at Storm and Iceberg - glowing. Btw - Iceberg, do you say Iceberg? Thought berg was the word in German and Swedish .....
(I had to examine: ”From Middle English berghen, berwen, berȝhen, berȝen, from Old English beorgan (“to save, deliver, preserve, guard, defend, fortify, spare, beware of, avoid, guard against”), from Proto-Germanic *berganą (“to shelter, protect”), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰergʰ- (“to protect, defend, save, preserve”). ”
Just have to add: I had collected an enourmus amount of threths during the years. When I started to upgrade to - as I always do - to 20 in the rift. They suddenly were gone 😤

You might want to rethink the automatic leveling to 20 - three L20's per largest habitat will max out in earnings in about 2 hours. And Rifties are such gluttons!
I'm happy that you have found the silver lining in your Rift clouds in the beauty of the Rifted eggs for your Eggland!
