Trying for Nosferatu in the Rift, today I've bred a Dodo Dragon (water trait) and a Blue Fire (metal trait). Um... I don't know whether that makes me happy or sad...

Rift dragons are much hungrier dragons. It takes 74.4M treats for a rift dragon to go to level 20. Only 10.5M for a normal dragon. Be careful

Was excited to breed a rifty Blue Fire today 😀...
Then saw it was a dark trait 😖
My dang Rift was even set on Air, and one of the parents had an Air trait. Grrr.

I have had zero (zilch, nada) success in breeding the correctly-traited dragons we need for breeding the special Rift dragons.
Lots of near misses like today, though.
I see some Transition Tower trait purchases in my near future.😑

Dear Olds,
I’m in the last group with you. Since we got the new ginormous island, I’ve been trying to decide how to arrange all my egg pedestals there. Was planning two rows for each element, regular and twins. But soon realized the need for three rows, to include the new Rift trait pedestals. If I weren’t retired, I would never have time to figure out any of this new Rift business! Hang on, we are all learning this together.
P.s. I really enjoy seeing your artwork!

I have decided to have only one row - it will be like a line - with ordinary, twin and this last thing - whatever its called.
Have you figured out if the ordinary i g Plant can be bred as a - I checked what you called it - rift train pedestal?
Better ask now so I don’t have to reorginize 😂

I totally sympathize with you althea. Yesterday I bred what I thought was a blue fire, so I was really happy, even if it hadn’t the right trait... but hatching it I realized my mistake: it was a frostfire... 😂😂😂

Yes, you can get the Plant Rift pedestal, too! It doesn't come with any other traits than Plant.

Well, I had to go look in my Dragonarium, and I found a Plant Rift pedestal. But I can’t decide how to arrange all of them, so maybe I’ll watch your park for design ideas. 😀

Right now my Eggland is just a mess. But - I have created a place ”between” the old and the new, where I right now put all the new ones together as they shall be later. It becomes very clear I miss some twins. ☺️
The new main Eggland - the Grand Eggland - is going to be on the giant square island. I am not sure if all of the peds can live there .. but I will take care of that question later. I could have two Egglands.

A breeding theory in progress: I am breeding for the Original 90 dragons. Today my Rift is aligned with Metal. I am using my Metal Rift as 1 of the 2 parents. The other parent is the other Primary element of said dragon; i.e. Steel is Cold and Metal, RA: Metal P1: Metal P2: Cold. Got it 1st try. Using that theory and saving E for 6 days, I managed to get 12-13 needed dragons with only 2-3 duplicates!!! Got some unrelated traits on a few, i.e. Steel has a Water trait (no Water in the mix), but I got the dragon at least. Gonna put this theory to the test each week and see how it goes.

I feed my Rifts up to level 15 or so, then use Bahamut and Tiamat to level them further.

I splurged and bought some E from the market as well as collected more times than usual. Of the Original 90, I needed 5 that had Light as a main element. As my Rift is aligned with Light, I gave it a shot. Bred a total of 6 times, got all 5 that I needed with only 1 duplicate!!!! I have discovered that it DOES matter which order the parents are in! Glare is Light and Cold while Phantom is Cold and Light. My only duplicate was a 2nd Glare because I didn't switch the parents around. I did get an oddball trait of Lightning with one breeding but the other traits were either Light or the other element. 2 days out of 2 with this theory, looking good so far.

I’ve been playing since the beginning of Dragonvale and I find the rift frustrating and epensive. No real direction or understanding.

I looked at the sandbox and was wondering if there's any way to breed a primary rift without one as a parent?

And for the cold rift x blue fire suggestion, is that in the rift? Or can I breed it in the regular park?

I've searched a squillion and one posts, as I'm sure there was one which listed the order of daily alignments of the rift. I just cannot find it, and it looks as if it has to be aligned in a certain way to breed certain dragons. For example - the new Frost fluff/flower dragon can only be bred if the rift is aligned to cold (I think).

Could someone please enlighten me?

The order of the daily alignment is just like the order the primary elements where introduced into DV. So the first one is plant, then fire up to the last elements light and dark. You can have a look int your Dragonarium, if you're not sure what comes next.

DAILY RIFT ORDER: Plant - Fire - Earth - Cold - Lightning - Water - Air - Metal - Light - Dark

So, fun stuff in the Rift today, and actually related to the Alignment talk. How delightful!

Got a Water Bog on my first breed yesterday (Air Blue Fire and Water Salamander, Rift Aligned Dark, in case of curiosity) which left Spectre as the only Rift Spooky I don't have one of. So I paid the 4k Etherium to change my Alignment to Cold so I could double attempts for it with Frostfluff.

Didn't get anything else of interest yesterday, but bred Frostfluff today (it's pretty cute) using Etherium I had just after the reset. An hour later, I come back, reload DragonVale and my Alignment has changed to Plant.   

I don't think it's meant to doooooo thaaaaaat. It should have stayed Cold the rest of the day, the description in the help menus say as much and it still had 23 something hours according to the timer on the icon. I've sent a support mail reporting it as a bug.

Unfortunately because I was Dark aligned before I can't tell if it's meant to continue from where you were in the cycle or if it starts from the beginning at Plant.
