Thanks for the explanation, N/A. I now remember reading that before but I must have brain dumped it the week I tried kicking my morning coffee habit. I promise to never, ever do that again! ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
the alignment only effects the rift traits that get inherited by the offspring of your breeding pair; it doesn't contribute elements to the breeding mix. So for example if you were breeding a rift lava (let's say with an earth trait) with a cold rift dragon, during plant alignment, you would never get a chance to get a thicket dragon, since the plant element isn't involved. But a Decay with a plant rift trait could be a possibility.
Changing the alignment only helps when trying to breed alignment specific dragons, like Antumbra and Frostfluff. Sorry about the E3M.
Oh poor Cyn. So, to check my brain in; elements are not traits .
breeding in the Rift still requires the parents to have the necessary elements between them, just as for breeding in the Vale.
Rift Alignment to a particular Trait at the time of breeding, only possibly contributes that trait to the baby draggies ( who can possibly inherit a parent trait and not a Rift Alignment?) .
Some Rift dragons can only be bred when the Rift is on a specific Alignment ( like Antumbra and Frostfluff) yes?
Alrighty then kids, let’s play a little game of ‘What would you use?’.
I have bred nine Bone Dragons, one with each Trait except for Lightning. Yesterdays Dark fiasco did give me a Dark Bone and this morning when my Rift changed to Plant, I got the Plant Bone. Both of those totally by accident as I was trying for something else... which I did not get. I will have enough E for two or three breeds before tomorrow’s reset. Which dragon combo will give me a better shot at Lightning Bone?
Lightning + Fire Trait Bone? Earth + Lightning Trait Firefly? I need a Lycan pedestal so should I use Lycan + Bone and get Bone as a fail? Seems I am better at getting things when I am not trying for them!
N/A , Arkynos , Mr Lemonhead Mr. Bones , anybody/everybody: What would you use?

Ignore the deleted post if you can see it Cyn, I had a moment where I thought Lycan had Fire, not Cold for a minute. With that corrected, here's my suggestions:
If you want to breed Lightning Bone: Lightning Obsidian + Lightning Lava. (Swap to this with the trait tower on both.) If you want another Rift Bone and are willing to buy the trait from the tower for 10k later: Bone + Bone, any traits. If you want to double up on Lightning Bone and Lycan: Lycan + Lightning Obsidian/Lava (5 elements, eww.) If you want to double up attempts at Lycan and Bone and are willing to buy the trait: Lycan + Bone, any traits, bearing in mind I've got no idea if having 1 parent of that breed just adds it to the results pool or actually increases your chances of breeding another, and if so how much by. If you've had enough Bones really and want the pedestal: Lycan + Lightning/Cold/Plant Rift because they're higher level.

if you do lightning rift and fire trait Bone, Thunderbird will also be a possibility, so that's a good combo if you don't have one of those yet. Otherwise, Lycan and Bone does sound good. But you can also get these traits (and pedestals) after the event ends, as long as you have 1 Rift version of each for the traits and 2 (to be on the safe side) for the pedestals.
☹️😢😥😣 Cyn , I s'pose you've done all the tricks, force close etc? What about the scary nail biting backup, uninstall, reinstall?? Feel for you, tech is so frustrating at times. I'm sure some of our techy valers will chime in with ideas.... Meantime, forget the Rift is there and enjoy the 'usual' spooky funfair as best you can 😳🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨
Sudden out of the box idea; i dont know what device you are playing on, but can you somehow use something else to access your park, using the register/link park method, and see if another device can hatch ( or, ahem, break) that egg out of there???
Ya, I did uninstall and reinstall, no luck. I've tried everything I can think of including removing most apps from my tablet. Not that I keep much on it because I really just use it to play Dragonvale. The only thing I haven't done was to try the factory reset. I did try that when I couldn't log onto to Dragonvale at all the last time and it didn't work so I hesitate to try that again. I did try another device and no luck there either. I don't know what's up with that egg, but I'm sorry I ever bred it, LOL.
You make a good point though, I can play and enjoy the event and just stay out of the rift. I am grateful for that. Thanks for reminding me. I am certainly in a better position than I was when the Rift started and I couldn't even get into the game at all. I appreciate the pep talk, it was just what I needed.
Why this forum keeps changing names all on its own I don't know.. sorry cynmed, this was vp Cyn,

When an egg won't hatch in the rift, you can still release or sell it to clear the cave. Still frustrating though because the stuck eggs are the ones I want to hatch. I have given up on rift breeding due to this situation.

A little glitch for the next hour, daylight saving time has reset the candy timer and gives us 1hour to add 1000 candies! Go for it!
Thank you so much for the tip! I had enough for one mystery egg, and with the extra 1000, was able to get two eggs. And those two eggs gave me the last missing rifty spooky, a Nosferatu, and a surprise twin Nightmare! I had been agonizing over Nosferatu and Lycan for the last two weeks, I didn’t collect my gift egg until today, and it was my rifty Lycan, and I hadn’t even tried for the twin Nightmare because I was afraid of the fails. Soooo, the last few minutes of the event made me very happy! 😃 Thanks again!
One little question I have to ask When through the Vale I am flying Can it be two Can it be three? Is it possible a plant egg Can get ”riftich” ang glowing Without dying?
Maybe asked that before But you see the old man Has been playing and cooking for many All my thoughts went away and my memories got blank and I could not go asking Old granny
My Rift habitats are all upgraded (except 1) and full, plus there are 68 other riftys in my HC. Clearing more clouds and buying more habitats is definitely a long term project at this point. The 68 stored dragons are ones with alternate traits. For example, I have Quake(lightning) out in a habitat, but Quake(dark), Quake(earth), Quake(fire) are all in Hibernation. With the Transfiguration Tower, do I really need to keep those alternately-traited ones? This just occurred to me 5 minutes ago while playing around in the TT and realizing it is free to switch the traits you have unlocked.
Would it make sense to keep the highest level of each dragon and sell off the alternately-traited ones? All my dragons in storage are either level 1 or level 4, so it's no big food loss, and they can't earn any E since there is no room for them in the habitats. Since I am breeding new dragons every day, there will be plenty of bodies to fill the new habitats (when I build them). The only reason I can think of to keep an alternately-traited is if I like the way it looks, or if I've invested a bunch of food in it.
Just trying to make sure I am not overlooking something important.

Valers, I am so sorry. I made a big misstake. I asked about plant eggs/peds and showed a Luminous.
My little question is: can I get a twin and a rift-egg of Plant?

Traits are cumulating on the dragons, meaning if you have dragon X with trait A and you then breed the same dragon with trait B, dragon X willhold both traits, immediately. You do not even have to hatch the new ones, just release them. The new trait will automatically be added, even if your dragon X is in the Hibernation cave. Unless you want to keep two or more same dragons displaying different traits, it is not necessary to keep doubles. Just sell them, ie when breeding release them.

oldsmol, when you look up dragons in the Dragonarium, you can see if a Rift version is available when it has a Rift symbol at the top of the frame. Light, as you can see, does not currently have a Rift version. 🐨🐉 image processing service

So thankful for this post, Viv! Am currently caring for mother-in-law who broke hip and have no wifi so taking the time to read back just isn’t possible. This is exactly the info I was looking for, thank you!
Thanks, Arkynos and N/A! After trying all the suggestions I got nada. There is always BEB! I had actually sold off a couple of Bone with duplicate traits as I wanted to breed one of each trait. I know, 😜!
I think I will take a break from breeding anything with Fire and Earth for a bit. I cannot look at another Obsidian. Obsidian is the new Crystal!
Thank you to everyone who sent me Candies and Twins during these events! Much appreciated❣️

Sending you good vibes from an old hippie 🌸
New traits will also be retained when you sell the dragons with new traits (as long as you keep one dragon) for DC rather than releasing for 100 eth.

You don't have to lose it - when you select Hatch in the Rift for a non-Rift dragon it automatically goes to the Rift Gate where it hatches in preparation for transfer to your park (2 hours or 24eth, decreasing with time). If you want to keep the pedestal, select the pedestal option and the pedestal will go to the Rift Gate for transfer (same cost for early withdrawal).
