I just spend the better part of 3 hours making that Ginormous Island into my new egg island, with space for basic hybrid dragons, golden hybrids, twins, and now the Rift pedestals. Filling that thing up is going to take awhile...

I think, by counting, the Rift is 12x12 blocks of Miasmic Ether, though I have seen some things that indicate it *might* be 13x13, you appear to be able to select miasma under the edge, which might not be clearable, but I haven't got there yet.
It is 14x14, but the very edge blocks aren't clearable. If you select them and tap clear, it'll say as much. So the usable space is really 12x12.

See this is what bugs me, there's barely enough space for the dragons I all ready have let alone for these "new" variations. Ugghhh
Assuming I understand them correctly myself (which may be a bit of a stretch), I have a suggestion for how to look at the traits which may make things easier: think of them as Dragon Accessories. It's as if they can now wear necklaces, earrings, bracelets, watches, shoes, etc., though only one item at a time. Once you breed a dragon with a particular accessory AND HATCH IT, it now has that accessory in its "accessory closet" available for it to use. You can sell the particular dragon that was born with the accessory, but the item is still in the closet for other dragons of the same type to wear. You use the Transfiguration Tower to "change outfits."
So, for example, I just bred a Rain with an air trait, hatched it, then sold it. My Dragonarium still shows the Rain dragon as having the air trait in its closet, and if I bred another Rain dragon in the rift that had, say, the water accessory, I could use the tower to switch it to air.
What I don't know yet, since I don't have the tower myself (and maybe someone else can answer this?) is what would happen if I bred a normal Rain in the rift without a trait - could I use the tower to give it an accessory that I already had in the closet? Or do you have to be born into the "accessory club" in order to have access to the closet at all? Clearly you can't bring over plain dragons without a trait into the rift from your normal park, but they can be born there, so what happens then?
At any rate, for all you completionists out there, the goal would now be to collect all the accessories a given dragon type can have so they can be properly dressed for any occasion. If they need a particular outfit for that "special date" (i.e., a trip to the breeding cave when a specific trait is needed), they can stop off in the tower first to make sure they're wearing it. If neither of the parents you're using has access to the accessory in their closet, you can get it from the rift itself, provided that's the accessory it's offering that day (or you pay to switch it). Of course, you can always dress your dragons with a trait for purely aesthetic reasons. But you don't have to keep all these different dragons around just to have access to their bling.

journeywoman that is pretty much exactly how I am treating it. The hybrid dragon needs the Rift element in order to be able to wear an accessory. Those dragons born in the Rift without Rift elements (which can happen). Also cannot wear accesories. Note in the dragonsrium they categorize Rift hybrids with the regular hybrid, just like twins

Thanks, that makes sense. I just noticed the rift symbol now on each dragon's icon in the Dragonarium (like the indicator for twins), so I guess you'd want to save one rift version of each dragon so it can actually use the traits. The thing is, I have a Rift Poison dragon sitting in a habitat, but its rift icon in the Dragonarium is still dark - is that a bug, or is something else going on?

I just got a plain ol' Blizzard Dragon from a Rift breed, which is sucky. If I have to pay to breed, at least make sure every breed results in SOMETHING with the characteristics I'm looking for...

Just bred some pretty Rift Trait Dragons. So far, Rift Blazing and Rift Wraith are my favorites. I wonder if you can use something like Lightning Rift and Snowsquall to get Plasma just like Lightning and a Water Hybrid.
I cannot find breeding hints for the Rift Elemental Dragons Earth Rift and Cold Rift cost 2500 Etherium Lightning Rift and Water Rift cost 3000 Etherium Air Rift and Metal Rift cost 3250 Etherium Plant Rift and Fire Rift cost 5000 Etherium (And were given to us on first entrance to the Rift) Dark Rift costs 10,000 Etherium Light Rift cost 15,000 Etherium
The House Elemental Rift Dragons do have Breeding Hints. I bought one for the good of all. (Spore because I am partial to Iron Blossom) Spore = Plant Trait + Plant + Metal + Rift (Spore itself only has Plant Trait)
I expect the other dragons to be similar. Alpenglow would be Lightning Trait + Earth + Light + Rift Blightwing would be Dark Trait (?) + Fire + Air + Rift Snowsquall would be Cold Trait + Cold + Water + Rift Voltaic would be Dark Trait + Dark + Lightning + Rift
You have to use purple magic dust to purchase the Rift dragons above? I had bought all of the dragons during the event so I'm utterly confused. The only thing I'm sure of is that I WASTED purple dust clearing clouds and didn't even find the tower! Where is it? BTW my poison dragon with a fire trait looks completely different as an adult even though it already had the fire trait.
I also REFUSE to pay 1000E to breed. I waited until reset today. Like I said, this process is so slow without enough opportunities to gain E. I feel it's more of a money maker for BFS but refuse to give in.
I was just able to initiate moving two Rift dragons from my O-park to my R-park at the same time. Did one and it let me scroll down to add another. Is that a change or was I just not paying attention the first day? Still can only move one at a time from my R-park to my O-park.
...Are both showing up in the block? I'd be afraid of losing one!
You can move 2 dragons at a time. Where you move them is your choice:)
My question is why did I get a Rust Dragon with Air Trait while the combo is used is Water Rift and Spore and a Metal Trait Storm Dragon with Lightning Rift and Snowsquall?
Trying to get to grips with everything like everyone else - one thing bit confused by. The new rift dragons can they only be bred in the rift breeding or can you breed them in normal park?
I feel a bit dumb as not getting this new concept quickly.

Rift Habitats is my goal- however, the cost to keep upgrading is insane. So I need to wait 2 houses to move my dragon back home to my park?
QUESTION-Why can't I store my smolder dragon or smoke dragon that I got in the Rift via breeding 2 rifts together? My only choice is to move it to my island. Is it because they didn't get new traits? This is bogus-wasting purpleE and getting dragons without traits.

Yes, you got unlucky and the smoke and smolder didn't get the rift trait. I'd estimate about 1/3 of mine haven't had the traits. I know it feels bad getting a few fails and having to wait until tomorrow to try again, but its still better than getting a double rainbow in your park when trying to get a new dragon and having your cave tied up for not one, but two-three days.

I release breeds in the rift without traits -- at least it gives me 100 E. well, if I got a Dream dragon I'd probably keep it, escorting it quickly to my main park!
Magpac thank you so much for taking the time to make your cloud clearing graft. Your visual in what to clear when I finally manage to get enough Etherium was exactly the plan I needed to see. I am definitely a visual and step by step person.
Also thanks to Arkynos. I haven't started breeding anything yet but I wrote down your guide exactly for when I finally do. Like I said, step by step, however long it takes. Love this site and all the work everyone contributes.

Always try to check the first few posts on Page 1 of this thread. We are updating those posts as the information is discovered.
From the BFS FAQs page:
Can I breed Rift Dragons in the regular Breeding Cave, Breeding Island, or Cooperative Breeding Cave?
Rift Dragons and dragons with Rift Traits cannot be bred in the regular Breeding Cave, Breeding Island, or Cooperative Breeding Cave and can only be obtained by breeding in the Rift Breeding Cave.
