I will not pay 1000+ E to breed, especially for a plain Plant dragon. I will wait for the inevitable price adjustment and if all players refuse, it will come that much quicker. As someone else said: the jump from 220 to 1000 is ridiculous.
Me either! I am only breeding four times daily and then waiting for reset.

So, I spent the last hours playing "lift", getting dark rift and alpenglow up in the rift, bringing down others to make room, and following the procedure outlined somehere above, bred them together, got a rift glass, then lift up light rift, dark rift down, and now finally bred light rift with glass and got, second try ... another alpenglow ... Price to retry being too high, not trying again. I did that procedure once, and giving the time it needs to try to get the desired dragon, ie antumbra, and not getting it, and considering it is 2 in the morning now, i don t think I am going to try again! Read the comments on FB, BFS is going to loose a lot of players, and a lot of money. Including mine. Am just going to try to get an egg of the two last "regular" dragons and that will be it.

Wow, so I can now actually add something to this thread! In one of my baby parks, I was able to breed a Plumewing with my level 10 Plant and Fire Rifts on an Air alignment day! Third breed of the day, too. I'm only contributing the desired dragon to airships each day, provided it's no higher than 17 (if my dragon isn't of a high enough level). The first breed of the day costs 1 ether, so I'm doing that each day, releasing the baby, to earn 99 ether. The second breed is essentially free if breeding Plant and Fire Rifts together, as you get 100 ether back for releasing the baby. I'm going to deplete my stores by attempting to buy a habitat each day and upgrading it once. I'll transfer my Light and Dark Rifts (both level 20) across so that I can earn more ether and have the dragon resources needed. I'm going to take the slow road with this, the very looooong and slow road. At the moment I don't like the Rift and all things associated with it, but I think that's more to do with the change and not so much the game. I love DV and I know that I'll end up living the Rift too. It'll just take time......
Breeding Target: Ovalith. It's ALWAYS Ovalith! Hoarded gems as a safety net to ensure an Ovalith during BEB, but I'm not sure if I want to spend them: I think I want the thrill of breeding it! Gems wasted on speeding up Ovalith breeding/incubation: 2890

So I've only managed to breed a few dragons following Arkynos's fantastic instructions, but got 2 pretty neat looking Blazing Dragons:
I LOVE the lightning effect! I wish breeding was faster because I want to see what the other traits are like!
Here is my egg island:
Close up:
Anyway, I'm still pretty confused, and rather hope a few things will change, but am really liking the new Rift hybrids, so that's cool at least! Thinking positive! (...for once...)

I have a blazing with fire too! And I love that lightning. Would have guessed it was water if you had not told me.
I see the Rift breeding as a way to get away from interminable Rainbows, etc when breeding. There are so many dragons out now it is hard for backflip to avoid the horrendous waiting times on existing dragons
On my gigantic island, I've moved several dark and light habitats, so I can keep all the trait adorned normal dragons together, making it easier to keep track of them.
My flower dragon, which has a plant trait could be moved into a dark habitat, but I'm not able to move it into a light habitat. My Moss dragon, also with plant trait which is currently in a light reward habitat, is unable to be moved into a giant light habitat.
Please, could someone explain why this happens?
In the meantime I'm restricting myself to 2 breeds per day and buying habitats to upgrade and move all my Level 20 rift dragons to the rift. This is gradually beginning to speed up the e-stuff stash, so I can upgrade the habitats or buy new ones as sufficient funds come in - and just clear one bit of fog at the end of each day. That's my plan for the moment.

It was a bit hard to get a picture, because it flashes just like real lightning does. It's really really cool. I think with this one dragon, BFS changed my outlook on the Rift, lol. It's hard to be patient when I want to breed, breed, breed to see what other awesome combos I can find!

Sorry if I missed it is there a chart of costs for clearing the Miasma?
Hi vampdragon , yep two lots of info in OP, and a reminder to all of us, keep checking the OP for this thread, all the info gathered through everyone's intrepid experiments and mightily brilliant maths (avaunt) is either being posted there direct or has links to the post elsewhere 😉 Koala all and keep eating the brain supporting foods 🤓

Like several others, I also moved all my rift dragons across into The Rift and have been spending all my E on habitats. There is good news on this front: after several days you will reach a nice situation where you have 10+ habitats, all size 2 or larger. You spread your dragons around so you don't have to collect E as often.
At the moment I am only doing 3 breeds. Today was lame-o since I got 2 non-rift dragons : argh :-) My main park is no better: Rainbow, Double Rainbow, and Silver fails : argh argh!
EDIT: yep, I used up all my luck on those Singularity dragons.

I'm enjoying all the beautiful variations, too. So glad we only need to keep one of each! I still haven't had any success in breeding specific dragons, just haven't been able to grasp all the necessary conditions.

I'm following Arkynos's instructions one-by-one (Cyn has 'em pasted on the front page) in the hopes of getting one new dragon. Breeding for Antumbra needs the Rift Alignment set to Earth, so that one's out for me for a week. Breeding for both Viridian and Zaffer have a chance for Plumewing along the way, but are also a bit complicated. Ghast seems easiest, so I'm going to concentrate on that one now that I finally moved my Light and Dark Rifts over. Before that, I just did the easy breeds for Step 1 of Viridian and Zaffer, hence the awesome Blazings!

I've been following Arkynos's instructions too (who'd have thought it?) and picked up a Fire Blazing myself. I really like it. The effect suits it, it looks really natural for the Blazing dragon to be, well, blazing. Lightning Smoke looks pretty good as well, almost like stormclouds. I also got an Air Smoke first though and the Air trait effect is such a similar colour to the standard Smoke dragon it's hard to tell the difference from a distance. So I used my newly excavated tower and changed it.
In case anyone was wondering, changing between unlocked traits using the tower is free, instant and unlimited. It'll be interesting to see what everyone has set their Rift variants to in a couple of months. I like the level of dragon customisation it offers.
I can also confirm the correction meadowphoenix made to my correction of the releasing thing: I got the Air Smoke, kept it. Got a Lightning Smoke after that, released it. The Dragonarium showed Lightning trait unlocked not immediately, but after I restarted the app. It is completely bewildering, what's happening there.

Magpac- I'm confused about your chart. Where is the transformation building? Or is it in a different place in everyone's rift?
I found a really useful Reddit article on this. I haven't confirmed it yet, but see no reason to doubt it's accuracy. Apparently there are 5 possible locations for each of the transformation tower and rift hibernation cave. Someone has very helpfully mapped them out and given instructions for the quickest way to discover where yours are!
Once I have some more etherium I might try exploring the rift a little. (I favour calling it etherium, the rift is confusing enough without renaming things!)

I'd rank the layouts as 1, 3, 5 and 2, 4 from best to worst. 4 has fairly long distance from the start area and its buildings are away from the search path. 2 has the longest distance from the start area. 5 has the cave and tower reversed in the search path which is fine if you just want to know which set you're on, less so if you're specifically looking for the tower.
5 layouts leads to equal distribution if you base it on the park ID. I wonder if there's any correlation between your starting element and which layout set you're on. Bit of a long shot: even if they are both based on park id it could be different digits. Might be worth investigating anyway. I started Earth aligned and am on Layout 2 for whatever it's worth.
If the biggest Rift habitats are a reasonable size then there should be enough room for all of them. 8x8 would be ridiculous but I'm pretty sure they still fit even then. 6x6 leaves lots of room to play around with in the future. That's good.
Remember when I said Blazing and Wraith are my favorite Rift-i-fied dragons? Well, today I bred a Light Rift Crystal and it's super pretty. This time Crystal is my favorite rift-i-fied Dragon. Now I shall try to breed a Rift Mountain and Lava.
