Guys. Thanks for all the helpful info. I have to be honest- I don't think I'm smart enough to understand how all this works. I keep reading but I legit think it's just a little beyond my intellectual capability. And that's ok. I will continue to play in the regular world and enjoy that. Hopefully there will still be new dragons there. If no, then that's a bummer.
Check out Journeywoman's Post a few pages back. This helped me start to see how it all works. I think everyone is a bit confused at this point but as we all play on and compare notes, it will hopefully become clearer.

HUGS for both of them and you Cyn for posting it here. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

With the demise of game centre I just started in FB to be able to friend people from this forum and join in on the fun. Please message me if you want to send a friend request so I know to watch for you😊, I never check FB otherwise. I'm deleting random requests way too many of those 😮.

Can I just say that I dislike how Backflip did this? I expected them do to something like, uncovering 7 tiles reveals the tower, and then after 12 tiles you find the cave, regardless of which direction you went. That would still give a sense of exploration without being unfair.
Imagine if we didn't have this information. Since clearing costs go up with each one, we could've been floundering around for months trying to find our buildings. I bet some unlucky sap on layout 4 is going to find their tower in 2019, all the way in the upper left corner, under the last bit of ether. Meanwhile, layout 1 can find their tower with the very first thing they clear.

So just to see if I've got it all straight in my mind, for general "no idea what's going on" players, we should follow these basic steps:
Go to the Rift. Collect from any habitats, click on the little whirlpool thingys for some extra etherium, send the airship out if you'd like (at the very least send the dragon, it'll get you a few extra etherium). You'll have a plant and a fire dragon at minimum since everyone started with those. Breed at the cave, for 1 Etherium. Sell that dragon unless you REALLY need it, which will net you 99 Etherium. Rinse and repeat until you've got enough for another habitat. Buy habitats, fill with rift dragons, buy more habitats. If you need more rift dragons, breed at the cave a few more times, but at some point it'll be 1000 etherium to breed, so stop and wait for it to reset the next day to continue doing that. Once you've bought 9 habitats, it's cheaper to start upgrading those that you've got, so upgrade all of the 9 habitats until you've upgraded once, then go back to buying more habitats and filling them with rift dragons.
At some point you'll need to clear the rift to make space. The most efficient way is the image Cyn posted via reddit, where you'll clear a total of 5 spots to figure out which configuration you're in. Once you know, start clearing spots toward the buildings. You could probably set a decent goal of clearing at least 1 spot a day with no problem.
For breeding dragons, refer to the step-by-step guide on the front page for who to breed how and when.
And that's it for now!
...how's that, guys? Any changes/additions?

Besides knowing it exists, and where to look for it depending on where your tower is, is there any more information on the hibernation cave, like initial capacity, cost to expand, etc.? And whether dragons can move directly from one zone's cave into the other cave, or do they have to move into and out of habitats? I am wondering how important it will be to find quickly, having limited habitats and the 2 hour transit time is kind of a pain, but it will cost to make the path through the fog to the cave...
My mother has layout no. 5, so we stumbled over Rift Hibernation Cave first, instead of the tower.
At first stage of RHC is holding a total of 25 dragons, the first update will cost 500 E, probably for another 25 dragons. You can't move dragons from one hibernation cave to the other, all dragons have to pass the rift first. But you can move directly from the gate to cave, no habitat needed. Think it will work the same with breeding, I will be able to tell that after reset.
Personally, I would prefer having the RHC first like in layout 5. Not having to travel dragons I like to keep from breeding through the gate to stuff them into the original Hibernation Cave and travel them back when I need them or have room for them is great!

Gaaaah!! Me too! It's a good thing I have 7 revitalized rift habitats so far, cause this is getting expensive. Must.... upgrade..... habitats..... again......
By the looks of it I must be #5 (Mountain Sun, starting with Earth for the first two rift days).
Costing almost 2000 per Ether to clear now (I was puttering around before trying to find things), so going to take me another day or two to check
Getting sick of the non-rift dragons I am breeding, but still only doing 4 per day (1, 100, 220, 220) before stopping. My next rift habitat is 1100, so going around upgrading all the current ones to capacity 3.
All I see is that I need an Etherium production plant
Yes. My clearing costs are up to 2k but with 8-9 habitats I am making enough etherium to still be able to clear at least once a day, even thinking about stopping the airships. We'd to do some math on food vs etherium for leveling Rift dragons

Don't forget Bathmat (shorthand in our house for Bahamut and Tiamat).
I haven't fed all my original dragons up to 20 yet, so I reeallly resent how expensive these rifty dragons are to feed. For now I am spreading my lvl 10-16 pre-update rift dragons into separate habitats and filling in the leftover habitat spaces with baby rifts.
I feed rift dragons to lvl 2 as that's 10k food, then transfer a couple to my park to level up with Bathmat. For now I'm levelling them to 4 so they're old enough to breed, then returning them to the rift.
For Etherium production increase, feeding a dragon from lvl 1 to lvl 2 is as effective as feeding one from lvl 19 to 20, so I'm going for the low hanging fruit!
Eventually I intend to raise them higher, but maybe I'll be producing enough Etherium by then to make it worthwhile using it to raise them. I look forward to seeing some maths if anyone takes it on.
How can I breed for dupes of the rift element dragons? i.e. how can I get a second water rift dragon, for example?
I am guessing that you'll have to buy them from the market. I can't think of any combos with the rift dragons that will produce a single element to get seconds.
